How do I access the new drawing features?

I turned on tier 6 graphics in the tweaker but Ambient Occlusion and the options below are still greyed out.

Also, the Japanese only option under Soft Particles is reducing graphic intensity?

Did you change the texture and shadow settings under the slider after moving it to 6? I believe that could overwrite some settings. I may be wrong though.

Greyed out means you're still in tier 5. Not sure if tweaker has tier 6 option implemented correctly as a few friends who still use it had to change settings on the official launcher first

when i used the tweaked the options are grayed out so i tried doing this using the official pso2 launcher, i reinstalled the English patch again to avoid the black screen.

I did that as well now.
Turned on tier 6 graphics in the official launcher, then started the game with the tweaker cause suddenly the launcher wanted to redownload everything again (after uninstalling all patches and after it didn't complaining at all at first).

Well, didn't so much turn on tier 6 as noticed they were turned on already anyway from doing it in the tweaker.
I pressed the 2 buttons under the graphics tier slider to make at least some kind of change (no idea what they do) but still the same as before.

Can someone give me a detailed explanation of how to be able change these drawing features?

Go to Documents\SEGA\PHANTASYSTARONLINE2
open user.pso2 with Notepad
find ShaderLevel
change the number to 2 (ShaderLevel = 2,)
2 new shader tier 6
1 old shader
0 shader off

The only thing with "shader" in it is ShaderQuality and it's already on 2 for tier 5 graphics.

If the launcher is trying to redownload everything, try direct boot via batch file.

Paste this into notepad, save the file as pso2.bat, dump it in your pso2.exe folder and run it. It should skip the launcher.

Note that I limited number of people in lobby to 30 so I don't lag to shit in the lobby when trying to accept EQs.

I got all of the above except for ShaderLevel = 2,.
I added it and nothing changed.

I can start with the .bat and all but I heard I have to unlock tier 6 with the original launcher. I thought I had done it but evidently I didn't.

I had that since turning it to tier 6 with the tweaker a few days ago.
TBH I it doesn't look like you can turn on tier 6 only by changing user.pso2 cause nothing changed despite all my tweaks. Is there anything specific you have to do with the official launcher?

All I did with the official launcher was slide tier 5 to tier 6.

As TaigaUC have said, that's all it takes to change from Tier 5 to Tier 6 using only the official launcher.

Yeah, with tier 6 I never went below 105 fps and my score was ~12500 (twice that value each for tier 5).

Yes, setting 6 is literally setting that shader to high quality instead of standard if you were previously running 5. I don't remember the exact place where ShaderLevel was, but it may have been a bit away from the rest of the draw-related stuffs. Don't know if where it was written matters though. I should have exported a copy of my setting for poking.
