View Full Version : Gotta ask, does anyone still go to the Casino for enjoyment?

I just wanted to know if anyone still goes to the Casino and plays Casino games for pure fun rather than to grind CC for Rare Triggers or UQ Stones or stuff like that.
I personally really like the Casino because I can blow off some steam at the Black Nyack tables when I don't feel like playing the actual game, since I find Black Nyack bloody fun, especially when you have friends joining you and you get to yell at a virtual animal with the stupidest luck on the planet because it's fun. Some of my best experiences in PSO2 have come from sitting at the tables with friends and watching Nyau be stupid and hit at 17+.
I know that it's a "waste of time" and "doesn't add anything constructive to the game", but I love it as a side mode, especially since I primarily play more for personal enjoyment and less for "mastering" the game (although I still want to be good at PSO2).

I do. And I always get pissed when I can't do a split.

I never had fun in any casino. I was never ever a gambling person.
PSU I went to the casino to grind to get certain things like furniture and whatever else.
Here I grind (when team does it) to get triggers... and even then sometimes not fun because the only game I don't lose coins in is Mesetan Shooter and almost no one wants to do that.

Was so happy to be in the casino the day the GP had ut hunt mesetans in the shooter that I was least able to find people to play with.
Nyack Jack I lose 75% of the time.

I play casino games to earn coins or to kill time while waiting for friends/cooldowns/eq.

I'm enjoying myself so it's not a chore, but it's not something I log in for the sole purpose of doing either.

No and never did.

I utterly despise mini games like that.

I don't do it at all quite frankly, I don't care what prizes are there it's boring and I refuse.

I still don't have my rings set up cause it's boring.

It's good for extra lambda grinders. Dont really recommend it for ult stones because the 2016 badge shop is way better for that.

The problem is, none of the Casino games are actually fun.

If Black Nyack played more like real blackjack I'd probably enjoy it more, but it is way too RNG (like everything in PSO2) because of all the weird crap Sega added to it. Also, the game is rigged in the player's favor (mostly due to insanely high blackjack payout) but then Nyau has insane luck so it's not quite as rigged in the player's favor as the rules would otherwise cause it to be. And not being able to split or surrender drives me nuts.

Actually, what killed Black Nyack for me was when I realized that it is intentionally rigged to help the player win but to make sure the player doesn't win too quickly. In other words, the game is designed so that if you play it enough and know what you're doing, you'll consistently profit... but you'll still have to play for hours on end to make a decent amount of coins.

Well, it's the fastest way to grind CC besides hitting a Jackpot, which is far more unlikely than Black Nyacks and Five Cards. I do agree that Black Nyack isn't all that fun if you're flying solo; the "fun" part is playing it with friends (as many have stated).

you haven't lived until you double down on a 20 and get an ace

I enjoy Black Nyack to test the rules for success that I figured out for it.
But otherwise it's as Stormwalker said.

I played some real Blackjack in another game recently, and it felt annoying because the dealer almost always gets 18-21, making it super difficult to not lose.
But then, perhaps I just haven't figured out how to play real Blackjack efficiently yet.

I've won a little money playing blackjack in Vegas; it's fun if you know the strategy, partly because the house edge is very small usually, so you can entertain yourself playing for a long time and even if you lose you're not likely to lose big (unless you are betting too much for your bankroll; you don't want to be broken by a losing streak because they happen.).

The strategy revolves around a couple of concepts:

1). The objective is not to get as close to 21 as possible. The objective is to beat the dealer. Thus:
a). If the dealer busts, and you don't, it doesn't matter what you have, you win.
b). If the dealer doesn't bust, you need more than he has.

**** NOTE: This is why Black Nyack drives me nuts. Nyau has no rules about when he can hit and when he can't. He acts like a player, not like a dealer. An exceptionally strange player, at that.

2). Split, double down, and surrender are the tools the player has to mitigate the inherent house edge. Using them properly is the key to making money.

Beyond that, it's just a matter of memorizing all the possible scenarios and knowing what to do in each (which in a few cases is contingent on the table rules). There are a number of websites out there with tables of the scenarios. It's not as hard as it sounds, because a lot of the scenarios can be grouped up with general rules (just be sure you know the exceptions to those rules).

Oh, and there are some table rules out there that inflate the house edge dramatically, so knowing how to spot those (For example, blackjack payout less than 3:2) so you can avoid them is important.

I love Black NYack. I can never get the lilipa roulette thing down though. I go to the Casino all the time just to have fun. I wish I had more friends to come with though.

sadly all my time in the Casino seems to be just for Gathering Equipment. Still it's nice to mindlessly sit infront of a Rappy Slot Machine and waste away hours on it.
