God writes, "Hot on the heels of the very existence of PSO ver.2 (append disc). We, courtesy of HKDreamcast and RedVento, bring you screenshots from one of the new levels. Hmm, do these screens look fake to anyone else but me? I want a "updated" version of PSO so bad, but if the news comes from Hong Kong, it seems a little well, weird. And if these screens ARE real, I'm running out a preordering my copy of PSO ver. 2 =D

these screens are (almost) definately fake.
i mean the draw distance is further than usual (i'm pretty sure of that)

Mar 14, 2001, 07:13 PM
I wouldnt doubt these are real
you cant say the draw distance is too far
b/c DC can draw that far, and since the pictures are so grainy, you cant really tell if there is a decrease in resolution somewhere between the foreground and the vanishing point ( you can clearly see this in PSO when walking around in a dungeon eg Forest 1, there is a ring where the resolution drops past that ring )
and if they're doctored... that's alot of work to do
if I had skills to doctor that stuff, I'd be working somewhere as a graphics artist

There is an arena were you can fight with other players. You will both put down a prize in a insert window. The game will take your save and copy it online and look for cheats. then you fight from there server so the game is not happening from your Dreamcast. you just get to control the character. Ive tried this out and its flawless. happy psoing.

Ya I herd about that!!!!

I'm hoping I'm wrong on this...but the first of those pics is DEFINATELY doctored. It's a picture of a friggin' master system PASTED on top of a picture of a HUcast! I mean, it looks so out of place! The other pics don't look doctored, though. ESPECIALLY that big dino pic, which looks like how the rest of the bosses look. Hoping its true....but not sure it is...

well the dragon looks definately fake... if you change the display colors you could doctor that quickly. And as for the others they look like from anotehr game. I hope I am wrong.

When you submit your question or answer what does it mean when it has a Score 1 or Score 0 by it

I'm lost, just how exactly will this append disc work? Will it replace the original pso disc, and if so will it include everything on it? Or will it be like a boot disc kind of thing...if anyone can share any kind of info or thoughts on this it would be appreciated.

Ukyou

Well, if they're adding all this new stuff to the append disk, I see nothing wrong with adding new camera perspectives to the updated version as well.
Also, remember, games run with the simple scheme of:
Game Engine
Level Data, Character Data, Item Data...etc
The game engine takes all the data and displays it, so obviously it has to be very capable. Supporting features that are never even availble in the final product.
Now from a techincal point, the engine in the original PSO could also do these far off distances if the engine of told to, like say, by a programmer of the game? Just because the end-user version of a game doesn't have anyway to do something, doesn't mean the game engine isn't capable of it.
If these shots are real, they would be from a beta-version or the actually, still being coded in Sonic Team's headquarters version. If it was the Sonic Team's version, then no problem. ^_^
I've tested beta versions of games many times, and I'd guess quite of few of you people have as well. How many features were in the beta, but weren't in the finished one? A lot ^_^

did anyone notice the lvls of the chars in the screenshots???
i am a lvl 100 lett me go up 100 more i am all about it

Mar 15, 2001, 05:01 PM
Good question!!! They had put a random item generator in the beta test. But they felt that people then would not be able to seek out there "DREAM WEPON". I also agreed that it was a mess and voted that way

They are screen shots from the Japanese PSO 2 Official Home Page, can't be fake.
