I've been playing this game since its day of release and I love it, but with all of this attention recently about dupers and cheaters, I feel that my character needs to be cleansed.
I've played with people who have given me "extra" money they had. I've traded for items that seemed too good to be true. I know now that most of my money is probably dirty and that many of my rares are duped. I don't want these things. Yet... should I just drop my Holy Ray on the ground in an abandoned corner and walk away?
I've already dropped most of my money where others wouldn't find it, but money is easy to come by. What should I do? I don't want to play a soiled character. I've started a new one, Unicron v2.0, that is playing as clean as you can get, but my true love is the character I began the first day I played, Neifirst. She's weathered BSoDs, theives, and more iterations of Dark Falz than you can shake a stick at, so I can't just abandon her.
Help me find her path to redemption!

Your honesty is refreshing, and I understand where you are coming from... I simply don't trade anymore for the exact same reasons. I don't want spoiled items, I don't want anything to come to me too easily.
But remember, this is a game afterall. Before you drop that Holy Ray into the abyss, you need to decide if doing that will make the game more fun for you. Maybe losing all your items will make the game more challenging and thus a better experience for you... but then again, maybe not. There is no reason to punish yourself over a videogame.
Do whatever will make you the most happy, and make the game most fun for you... that is the point of the whole thing, right? To have fun? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_wink.gif

I agree with Zero. To a point.
If using this character genuinely disturbs you because of the items you have... Lose them. Don't bother rationalizing it, just do it.
Sure, you've lost some nice items, but imagine how you'll feel in a week or so when you've replaced them all knowing that these items are yours, and completely legit. You'll feel the same way you did when you found that first "?SPECIAL WEAPON" all over again, and you can't put a price on that.

I know what you mean...
A couple weeks ago, a friend convinced me to try duping with him. So we did. And I ended up feeling really bad about it.
So the next day (slept on it) I logged on, made a passworded game, and dropped everything but my SOUL EATER +35, DOUBLE SABER, and HOLY RAY (these items I genuinly got) and left. I felt much much better.
Now I have found a PHOTON CLAW, another DOUBLE SABER, and a CHAIN SAWD. Man those items were made all the sweeter by the fact that they were legit.
I never regret dropping all those items, and I am still glad that I did it. My friend asked me if I wanted to dupe again and I turned him down. I was tempted by the dark side, but managed to return to the light.
Anyway, just wanted to share. If you dont enjoy using your items cuz you feel that they arent legit, drop em. I agree with Zero tho. Do what will = the most fun for you. Even if they are 'soiled' weapons, you still traded for them, therefore making them hard earned. I see no dishonor in continuing to use them.

Nothing shines as beautifuly as hard earned fame.
Fake fame, on the other hand, emits a sickly pale light.
I had the luck of playing a Force, and quickly realized that there was nothing anybody had that I really needed, so I never bothered to trade.
This worked out for the better, because now I don't have to worry about acquiring dupes, so I can rest at ease that altough my character sucks (compared to the Spread Needle club), he's pure hardcore legit.
