Probably from those who were hoping that it'd be something new from Quna. Maybe some people just prefer their singers to be young and cute, singing modern J-Pop music while showing off some skin.

I honestly think its a nice a change of pace to have a different genre of Japanese music for the latest stage performance.

No qualms about the song, but man I sometimes question Sega's... design aesthetics. It's like they're begging to make this meme worthy.

I personally think if they had to spend a whole damn minute explaining who these people are and what the game is, then it's probably not really something most people would be up in arms celebrating over.

Edit: Now my friend wants to delete PSO2 right now because that is "fucking scary". Thanks, SEGA.

@animated hands
Didn't notice, was too busy staring at the huge head in the background.

Haha, top Japanese comment:

Agreed. Although, there is a decent wiki page for Kobayashi Sachiko, there is almost nothing I could find about this Beat Mario person.

It's more or less a homage to all the Sachiko Kouhaku stuffs (https://www.google.com/search?q=kobayashi+sachiko&rlz=1C1GIVB_enUS625US625&espv=2&biw=1390&bih=795&tbm=isch&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi7mK-KwqnNAhUD9R4KHVRfAbIQ_AUIBygC#tbm=isch&q=kobayashi+sachiko+kouhaku).

Somehow, that real one doesn't look as scary.
Anyway, I don't really mind her and I respect that people like her and stuff.

But I have to wonder if this is what people really want to see in PSO2 right now.
I am also curious how many people in the last enquete wrote "Sachiko Kobayashi" as a collabo that they want to see.

Kobayashi Sachiko is actually a very popular Enka singer in Japan, at least from all the info I could get about her.

My only guess as to why there's a mixed response from even the Japanese fanbase (so far) is cause of Japan's general obsession with youth especially considering how PSO2 is a very anime game and most anime glorifies youthfulness to a sometimes ridiculous degree. A 62 year old lady singer must've been such a jarring choice considering how previous live stage characters in PSO2 has been mostly cute young girls.

TaigaUC
Jun 15, 2016, 10:50 AM
Yeah, I asked a JP friend about it and they said she was very famous even before Nico Nico came into existence.
I don't really mind her in the game singing and stuff, but it seems that the large version of her has horrified a bunch of people.

Yeah, the song (from what little we've heard) sounds really nice and she does seem to be an excellent singer within her genre of music. I also think her outfit for the stage performance looks okay. I guess the fault really lies in whoever thought a giant face of a person would make for good entertainment... actually, most of Episode 4 has had questionable design choices.

Song seems nice, it's actually really weird but awesome that Sachiko and Beat Mario are collaborating. (As previously said, Sachiko is a famous Enka singer, while Beat Mario is the creator of COOL&CREATE, a doujin group that usually does a whole lot of Touhou remixes. He usually works as a composer, but he also sings, even though it seems he is the composer of the song this time.)

Costume is not bad, but the stage setting is... strange to say the least.

Oh, and for what we can hear from the lyrics, it seems like a "welcome song" from the Earthlings to the ARKS... which lore-wise is... well, just intriguing.

...Not sure if I accidentally deleted my post or what but from what I saw on swiki, a small portion of the users went "do not want" on Sachiko holding a live, and a huge portion was highly amused by the fact that "last boss" is finally in the game. I also don't think a lot of people find it jarring that Sachiko's in, because she's been kinda otaku lately, between singing Senbonzakura and going Comiket and her vocaloid and whatnot.

PS: While we're all focused on Sachiko's huge stage, Beat Mario of COOL&CREATE wrote the song for this live. People into Touhou and doujin music have probably heard of this dude before.

Yeah, she is last boss.

And I heard Senbonzakura is insanely popular to the point that it's common among little kids.
Or something like that. I don't recall clearly right now, very lacking in sleep.

I like Sachiko's singing (and OH WOW, ACTUAL HAND ANIMATIONS), but the song just sounds generic and kind of bad. I'm okay with it as long as it means a new LA will be obtainable, though.

Yes, she's a famous Enka Singer known for her elaborate stage production at the yearly red/white concert(A new year/end of the year) show in Japan that have multiple artist sing for red and white team.

Also for her live concert she has eleberate set too, which is why she's earn the nickname Last boss.

Here's her stage production from 2015 Red/White

The producer Satoshi Sakai made the announcement at an event on June 15 at Akihabara's UDX Theater. "In addition to being a famous singer, Sachiko Kobayashi is active in many directions, like Nico Nico Douga or Comiket. She's a character loved by young and old, men and women," he said. "PSO2 also breaks many boundaries between platforms, and for this first concert on Earth, we couldn't think of anyone but Kobayashi." Kobayashi was grateful that her character is less than half her age.
