Looking forward to the info about the Raid boss.

There's also a trailer that's just released by PhantasyCh (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5oseuk3miDY4gsFfEh4ueA) about the Arks Cafe. It sure was nice to see Matoi not in her super uncomfortable-looking high heels.

12 man MPAs are raids since raids just means a multi party boss quest/mission which is what an MPA is.

I'm going to guess the "raid boss" is going to be Mother in phantom darker form. This is something I'm actually looking forward to. If nothing else, it should be quite a spectacle (and have another great music track to listen to outside of the game).

I really don't expect us to beat Mother in a single episode, when a few of her troops are still up and about just fine. Either this is the first of multiple fights with her, or I'd imagine a monster Kohri blinded by her obsession with Hitsugi, which could be interesting.

On a side note, It's nice to see Rina's actress show up, for what it's worth, I did enjoy PSOTA despite how subpar it was.

I just want no more non-EQ non-LQ content with 12-player teleporters that cannot be joined mid-mission. they aren't terrible if the content isn't going to be around forever like EQs and LQs, but they are horrible for the future of things that will always be here like Riding Quests and Ult Amdu. at least Challenge Quests still have the shared ship to help people looking for others who want to run that content.

I really like Ultimate Amduscia but would like to know how it will look after the Gix files expire.

Kondibon
Oct 22, 2016, 12:07 PM
Honestly I think people attribute too much of old quests dying to the teleporters. It certainly didn't help, but the biggest problem is simply that once you get what you want from the quest there's no reason to go back. Other games like GW2 and FFXIV have systems in place that make old content still rewarding and relevant even for endgame players, but PSO2 doesn't have anything like that, except maybe Austere weapons and even that's pushing it, since most of the stuff required for it is 4 man content and the most popular EQs in the game.

Collection files expiring is the dumbest thing ever.

Zorak000
Oct 22, 2016, 12:15 PM
Most of the 4-player content feels like it fits in somewhere still, even if it is just running TACOs and XQCOs for money, and AQs to level up a sub-70 class outside of a good leveling EQ; they just haven't really been able to keep interest going for non-EQ 12 player stuff outside of The Flavor of the Month. I'ts sorta always been like that from the start, but I guess they are just doubleing-down on it now.

Zorak000

X New Ultimate Quest - Ult Amduscia
X Episode 4 Chapter 5 - mooooooon
X More PA & Technic Customizations - Parallel Slider, Safoie, Sacbite, and others
X PA and Skill Balance Adjustments - Sword and other weapon PA buffs, Summoner Skills
X Pet Egg Added - Jinga, Aero, Popple
Collaboration Interlocking WEB Event - Dengeki Cup?
PSU 10th Anniversary Project Part 2 - Maybe next week? (10/26)
Famous Game Collaboration Scratch - Gravity Rush 2? or is Million Aurther actually famous???
X Seasonal Franca’s Cafe - City skyline
X New Team Room - BOAT
From the Roadmap, I can say that the next update will be the Gravity Rush 2 stuff with the start of the Dengeki Cup, maybe some other little things too that they didnt mention on the roadmap

Looking at the Winter-End of the Year section might be able to pick out what's in the late November update:

Episode 4 Chapter 6 - Mother absorbed the power of a dark falz, I dont think this is going to end well for her...
New Type Grinding System Expansion - I legit dont know what this could even be
Appraisal Shop Expansion - mass untekking pls
Pet Egg Added - enhanced Marron and Melon??????
12 Player Raid Boss - rip Mother
SG Scratch Volume 2 - maybe the other Falzes; Loser and both Doubles, maybe Al too lol
Famous Game Collaboration Scratch - Persona 5, pls give us a Jack Frost mag
Seasonal Franca’s Cafe - probably going to be based off of the Tundra team room
I'd expect 4-6, NT Grinding Expansion, and Appraisal Shop Expansion to be the late November update; they seem to be following a pattern of "Story Update + System Updates" for the first part of an update series for a while now. Mother would probably be part 2, but we also gotta get the Christmas EQ squeezed in there at some point too, maybe that might be Part 1 as well?

I'ts sorta always been like that from the start, but I guess they are just doubleing-down on it now.A big part of that is because most 4 man quests can be comfortably soloed or low manned, while most 12 man quests take forever and/or are unrewarding when you try to solo or single party them unless everyone is already so strong that they don't even need the rewards. It's just so hard to get a group together once the initial wave of people has what they want, whereas I can just go into my discord and be like "Anyone wanna do some SHAQs?" and be fine if only one or 2 people join.

To be honest, I don't think we'll be fighting Mother just yet; I have the feeling she may jusy power up one of her followers (which I'm hoping might be Kohri, causing her to lose any semblence of recovery she's started), but I'm probably wrong anyway

Collection files expiring is the dumbest thing ever.
So damn right.

The ones tied to seasonal EQs make some sense (who wants to hunt Odin now that the LQ is done?), but stuff like the Ray weapons simply shouldn't ever be time-limited. It's particularly bizarre considering how effective they are at getting players to run things they wouldn't bother with otherwise. Ah, well - SEGA gonna SEGA.

Pet Egg Added

There is an unknown "pet_dragon_h" in the data, but no trace of "pet_longear_p" (longear = Marron and Melon, enhanced pets start at the letter m, more explanations in spoiler-box). But we might get them, I actually hope so. Wonder how they could improve them tho, maybe adding a beard to them and a "Allahu Akbar" sound effect when they blow up.

[SPOILER-BOX]
Wanda is the "first" pet, it is named pet_dog_a
Jinga is the "first" evolved pet, it is named pet_dog_m.
So far we have :
Wanda : pet_dog_a // Jinga : pet_dog_m
Torim : pet_bird_b // Aero : pet_dog_n
Cery : pet_wiz_c // Popple : pet_wiz_o
Marron&Melon : pet_longear_d // (thus their evolved form should be pet_longear_p)
Viola : pet_sheep_e (lol, sheep, I knew it wasn't a poodle)
Rappy : pet_rappy_f
Synchro : pet_anubis_g
??? : pet_dragon_h [/SPOILER-BOX]

I think I should start a thread with all the datamined things I find.

Funny enough, I've been getting tons of Ares stones by finishing Gix files.

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to pick any Ares weapon and max it's element by the time I'm done with Gix Daggers and Knuckles.

FE Tokyo requires 4+/12 or you're screwed taking forever to get it done doing it solo, same with Vegas. EP4 has the blandest Free Exploration design in the game. I hope this changes whenever EP5 is out, such as Free Exploration uses the same templete as old FE, but is no longer 12/12 locked where you can roam and visit more than 3 areas, such as Outer Area A,B and C, and Inner Area A,B and C which has a passege to the boss area in each of the inner area with note that says, this passage leads to example- Rockbear area room while this Room leads to Banther area room.

I'm actually digging this as a ring this time around. I like my zondeel detonating in some situations (like inflict SE on knight Gear or Gryphon or simply add some hurt on top of lightning spells). In some other cases like TD I'd rather use the ring.

Chasing phase brings to my mind of those chase boss battles in modern Sonic games.

The battle phase's platform and Mother's movements brings to my mind of the Dark Falz Loser raid battle.

Mother's raid boss design is also really good and is surprising considering how every Phantom has looked like joke monsters. Makes me wish that all Phantoms from the start had Mother's angelic evil alien theme.

Had Mother's design followed much more closely to regular Phantoms design theme, instead of the cool evil angel design we're getting, she would have probably looked like some kind of giant space rocket with boobs based of mankind's first rocket to the moon or something.

Thank goodness the Phantom Darkers became a thing to give the artists a reason to make Mother's raid boss form look cool.

Also, I didn't read all the comments, but from based on what I've seen...

I find it ironic we mock the chase scene so much. I mean, there's way too much Star Fox and Super Sonic going on there :/ But it also looks decently fun.

The boss fight just looks like everything exists to look flashy and is gonna be miserable for anyone not stacking automate+IW as they die getting used to attacks with no proper tell and are stupidly easy to dodge with a regular step, but are designed to trip up everyone else.

Can we cut down on all the brightly colored effects and attacks that prevent me from seeing anything in the heat of battle?

This reminds me of that Guild Wars 2 image where a bunch of players are attacking an event boss and one person asks "How do I avoid dying?" and someone says "Stay out of the red circles" and they reply "WHAT RED CIRCLES?" because there's just a clusterfuck of player and enemy effects that you can't see anything.

In any case, I'm looking forward to any music easter eggs in the boss fight.

I see the Olga Flow in this, but I doubt we'll be hereing Flow's boss themes since we already got that with Luther. I'm expecting a remix of Death Place from PSII, IDOLA The Fanatic Viper for the first part of the actual fight, and then a new theme with vocals, or maybe even a new version of The Whole New World with vocals.

Also, did anyone else think the Moon with the light comoing out of it (like the ESC-A logo) sort of looked like the mothership? Is Mother trying to copy the mothership?

I think the only one I had issues with at the start was PD because it felt easier compared to when Elder and Loser when each of those were introduced. I remember the first time I fought Loser, we actually ran out of time and failed because we kept getting butchered and had no idea how to actually take him down properly. Nowadays it's 2-5 minutes max to beat him, but he was tough before, we've just gotten stronger.

I will say that's due in part that PD has no strategy to it. There was no arms focusing, timing your shocks like with Elder (of course nowadays it doesn't matter), then there was the mirage and clock thing with Loser (and breaking the arms for harder difficulty Loser). Double is just deal with all the annoyances and hit the big glowing red ball and PD is deal with all this stuff while hitting what you can hit, then hit obvious spots.

The affixes in this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1dj0ywkOs0#t=3m09s) video are Ability III, Vinculum, Spirita III, Mutation I

Imagine bringing back the hostage attack where it grabs a party member and if you attack you get hurt

dude dont get me hyped man, imagine he takes the top 4 dps'ers hostage and people end up killing them following by a powerful mpa wipe attack whos power is based on how many out of 4 die...but sega's not this clever to make such a unique attack sequence

Honestly as someone who uses the gunslash for mobbing where charging a divine would be risky, this is a straight kick in the balls from Sega.
"Heres a niche weapon not many people use but this one can be a PP battery on every class so just for that,we'll make it unobtainable through CFs"

I'e seen more of the other way around, people freak out over something new probably not being up to their expectations but then it comes and people are like "Okay that wasn't that bad" and they go back to playing as if nothing happened.
Anyone remember the person who deleted their entire inventory, and then characters, when the first trailer for Ep4 came out? That was quite the reaction to something so small.

welcome to video games. You suck until you stop sucking. This is the nature of a boss fight.

Of course when a boss is poorly designed you can't exactly blame the player. Pack your ego up because you're going to the land of terrible game design.
Edit: I should add that your statement is insanely ironic because today was the exact day I got hit by an energy ball during clone...where I instinctively JR...right into getting hit by the stun beam...over and over. And over. And over. Till my character died. And since I want to enjoy the game I'm playing I didn't pick IW or automate so I could just face tank it like everyone else. My bad :U

Funny enough, I LOVE Vegas because it's so out there. It didn't remind me of Phantasy Star for sure, but it reminded me of why I was a Sega fanboy through the Genesis/Mega Drive era to the Dreamcast.

However, to be honest, I'm glad we're back in space, the fun of how outlandish Vegas was isn't something I'd want to see too often.

Don't forget the still-missing Hagito.
I think EP4 CHAPTER EX is going to revolve around Hagito.
I'm calling it right now:
Hagito's gone into hiding and when the rest of Mother Cluster has gone dead thanks to ARKS, he resurfaces and swears revenge and whatnot blah blah blah.

And you were absolutely right, holy crap.

And you're telling this to a person who's favorite games include:
Mega Man 2,4,9 X1,2,4 and Zero 1-4
Gunvolt
La-Mulana
Suguri
and Nuclear Throne.

So that response was pretty much bollocks. :U Not to mention I decided to use Su for the first time on PD and my god is it godly there. Granted, I was only able to abuse my pets well because I knew what was going on, but dang, using Persona's BS attacks against it with Maron is truly a wonder that no mortal can tolerate in the vast feeling of accomplishment and justice it provides.

Also I realize just how bad people are at Su.

Really, the issue is really not the quality of the area. It's more of the clashing design. What I'm trying to say is that it's not the quests or the like on their own that's bad. Hell, I know I would like Phaleg if she was in an appropriate game for her, same with Hitsugi. It's just that jarring nature isn't what people came to the game for, and it's not like it's a sequel that throws everything out the window. We still have Loser EQ, Dragon Ex, etc.

Though I would note I do not find it, the riding quests, or tokyo explore fun. They feel more grindy to do a single run than to craft an austere. So to me, there's nothing to balance out the issues here.

I would love for them to try varying up the gameplay like they did with boosters, but save them for gimmicks, not getting around. LF> Snow Boarding in Tundra or Gel Wulff sniping Ruins. The last one would only require some special spawns that ignore the player, as we already have the turrets lol.

Just some stuff that would make the arks quests remember-able and something one can "git gud" at like train suppression or Tokyo TA, arguably the best actual content additions in Episode 4. It's not like they didn't try anything like this before with lillipa and rescuing LIllipans. They just need to do away with the random maps and placements. Save that for free fields only.

Still, I would like to see them try Vegas again with a REASON for it to be so open. Secrets, finding enemies instead of beacon points, etc. If enemies were already walking around, it would be great. Just make them one per tile and finding them spawns more.

The part of my post you didn't quote was basically me agreeing, stating it was outlandish and out of place and that I don't want to see that sort of thing too often despite enjoying it. I'm glad we're going to space again now.

That aside, I'm pleased and surprised we got Earthlings in Phantasy Star again, PSO2 has been reusing a lot of old ideas (but reworked and reimagined, of course) from pretty much every game before it, and I didn't think we'd get Earthlings as "Antagonists" again like in Phantasy Star II.

Well, if you're saying that in terms of feeling that people might misinterpret your message based on how I quoted, sorry. I was trying to aim straight to the point...I'll edit that quickly regardless.

I was just stressing how these places can still be FUN and that's FINE. I feel like people might get the wrong message that we think that people can't have opinions on how they genuinely feel while playing lol.

And I did like the concept of reusing Mother as a villain but it really falls flat when she's just rejected PD. I was honestly expecting them to have Mother throw a box at the MPA containing the anime's version of Apprentice to fight you. That would of been more PSII like. Mother could of been fought at the end in some kind of similar Progeny Persona way, just without the instant kill. Like an easy 1 on 1 dramatic fight. They could also use this in a way to have a personal boss crystal for everyone so you don't have the issue of possibly forgetting a boost and being screwed.

It seems that Oracle also spreads its influence across the different dimensions as people seem to know who Oracle actually is.

It makes me wonder how widespread (and how small) the Universe actually is...
Whatever the case...

All the enemies are attracted to Oracle and its destruction, and regardless where in the universe... be it time, space, or dimension.... the enemies always find a way to reach the Arks Fleet.

I truly don't believe that Mother will be fully gone after this fight. In fact, I feel like Mother Cluster/Phantoms are just getting started. One of my theories is that Earth might not actually survive this attack by Mother, and that the ARKS will not be successful for once. If the writers are reusing some things from previous Phantasy Star games, they might give this universe's Earth the same treatment that PSII's Earth got.

For gameplay purposes, there is no way any of the playable Planets will ever be destroyed. The only Planet that was ever blown up was that one nameless Planet in the beginning of EP3 that no one cared about.

I think the Mother raid will be the last we see of Mother and possibly like EP1 and 2, they'll tease a surprise villain for the next Episode at the end.

I too don't want any more Earth stuff, mostly because I'm sick of seeing excessive Earth aesthetics in a goddamn sci-fi (which is why I'm glad the Mother raid will take place in space)

I just hope the next Episode goes back to more alien stuff which would give way for more futuristic, alien-looking outfits.

The same reason why, despite being 'attached' multiple times by PD, Naberius didn't change much (aside from Corrupted area). Even if the point where PD 'attached' its warp-hole is the Elder sealing site or any site, and caused significant damage toward Naberius; it will be restored every single time we beat PD. PD and Persona share the same body, so while PD has no access to time travel.......yet, it's only time until PD fully inherit time travel. And at this point of time (don't forget to add the timeskip), who knows whether the one invoke the time travel post our cryosleep is still [Persona] or PD (well, SEGA still use the end FMV with [Persona] screaming in the end, but the reality in storyline might be different).

Storyline wise, it's not exactly the best and I don't see it being received well. You could argue the same for the other episodes, but the game never had this much story focus before. In terms of upgrades to classes and such, and just decisions with how classes can handle enemies and bosses, it's downright awful. The issue with RA is the most blatant and yet not the worst of the issues... sad that a lot of the damage is already done as newbie RAs just kind of wb'd everything and now don't know how to aim or what parts to aim their wb at...

A lot of melee suffered at PD in terms of being able to hit double, if you want an example. Of course, a lack of constant weakpoints is why anything Ra main or sub just has immense trouble doing anything at all in either battle. No one ever seemed to realize why people picked up Fo/Te for it for a while. You know, in till they realized it costed a lot more to gear up FO right as well as the lack of HP and that mirage end lag being a bit more of an issue than they first thought.

Either way, I'm sure they had more planned for Earth. It's just profits and fanbase backlash are kind of a massive issue for a F2P. Them lack of premiums constantly are probably hurting, and after the implementation of "problocks", all the leeches who did manage to sneak in probably don't feel the need to get prems just to get on to the lower blocks anymore, killing any profits they probably made off them sans for the limited amount of revive dolls they got...assuming a lot of them didn't br/hu their way through.

So they probably got told to hurry it up like they did with Episode 3's story. Though, I imagine 3s was only told to hurry up for 4's, ironically, not in terms of poor reception.

I just wanna go back to epic music and battles, not a dollar store Persona.(the game not the character)

Either way, I'm sure they had more planned for Earth.Actually, everything about the earth story feels like a side thing. It reminds me of anime filler with the way they basically set the main plot to the side in the background and went off on a tangent, while also basically writing super important characters like Xiao out of the story. It feels like once this is all over they'll go back to normal stuff like nothing happened. That said, I REALLY doubt the upcoming fight is going to be the end of the mother storyline, if only because they haven't finished the pattern of doing 3 areas per planet with earth.

And while I do think the whole "Generic Anime Evil Organization" thing is kinda dumb (KH did it better. :U ), Mother herself, honestly has a lot of plot potential. I kinda miss how the Falz all had their own stories going on, and were doing different things. It was a nice twist on that sort of thing.

Well, do keep in mind how the story started. It was far better paced. Like insanely so. They even tried to shoehorn falz into it via Aika and the part with intro and Hitsugi as Aru or whatever attacking the falz like creature. The fact it's tied into Photoners trying to make a Xion clone, it's straight up sequel stuff. Mother is legit a less evil PD. She even does the drill thing using the moon that PD does. Only this isn't to explode a planet.

(also is it ever covered if Naberius is an artificial planet? And maybe PD's original body or something?)

Naberius is just where the player first encounters Matoi. I always assumed it was the stage for PD's fight because it means a lot to Matoi, the Player, and by extension, Persona. We already know that a Falz can be influenced by it's host, as Luther said about Elder when you're inside Double. Even Elder/Gettemhart saves Melrondia on their own later on. I wouldn't doubt that PD would also have at least some influence from Matoi and the Player/Persona.

Plus, theories aside, I'm pretty sure Matoi still had some control as Matoi Viel, and she chose to wait on Naberius for the player, before PD was fully resurrected.

IDK, it was just a thought. It just seemed strange that PD would attack Nab specifically and not ARKS fleet or something. I'm just thinking the drill could be it trying to reenter it's original body to regain omnipotence.

My thought is that maybe Mother needs a more suitable "body" and that could be Earth. *shrug*

That's a good point actually, it might not be anything special at all, PD just got the wake up munchies.

That giant tree in ruins is still a mystery tho, could be a future Eternal Tower content. Was it ever explained who made it other than just to seal elder? I mean Apprentice doesn't even need a giant tree to get it sealed it. I think there's still other mysteries unknown in Naberius if PD just kept coming back to it.

[Apprentice] Arm (unsure, but I can confirm it's not attached to Mother; she does a swiping attack with her left hand for a brief moment)[/spoiler-box]
I am quite amused by how much the "[Elder] Arm" looks like a Falz Arm; it's even preparing to do the repeated slam attack it looks like. For the record, I think the combination attacks mentioned by dataminers were "Eld and App" and "Lut and Dub" but I might be wrong...

EDIT: So who's ready for Mother's version of [Double]'s Panic!

That's actually pretty cool, like that they included Persona (if that is a Persona Arm).

this really kinda sounds like PD is going to drop in to mess up whatever Mother has planned before this fight happens, even with some of the mother cluster members commanding phantom darkers around

I find it fitting that Mother's raid form is a rip off of previous raid bosses considering that she's a rip off of Xion.

That last image gives me a PSO1 Dark Falz vibe.
