Just hit 80 myself, what a wild ride.

Just in case anyone is curious, it takes 20,500 (lol) less exp to get 5 class cubes from one level up at 80 versus leveling up 5 times at level 75.

Ryuhou
Mar 22, 2017, 06:00 AM
You get 5 class cubes at lvl80? Wow.
Lvling slower at higher lvl is obvious, but getting more rewards to keep the class cube ratio we had at 75 is not. That's very nice.

Leveling HU as RA/HU is going to be painful

Considering we need 21 class cubes to even start grinding after 75 and that fact that SEGA has confirmed future quests will have a 80/80 restriction, I personally think this is a mistake.

I don't have all the class cubes done on all my classes as I haven't played all that much since Episode 3~4, and I don't have the +35 weapon requirements done either for many classes because Collect Files are depressing and too chorey for my liking, and knowing that after my class cubes are done, I still have another 40M EXP to go in a game where levelling is boring as shit, it doesn't exactly motivate me to play more.

I have a feeling that Deus Esca is going to be 80/80 for XH, and I don't particularly look forward to be restricted either out of that, or only being able to play certain class combos.

If levelling was actually enjoyable in PSO2, I wouldn't mind, but when the only content you can really play that doesn't feel chorey is EQ, the game is only solidifying its position as Chore Simulator Online 2, and I think this is going to be the point where I'm going to stop playing again, but this simply is not fun.

I personally wouldn't take it too hard; I don't expect the 80/80 requirement to arrive for some time. Unless it's installed for Deus ESC-A, in which case that's garbage. I'm still gonna complain about the +35 requirement, but only cause I just recently started playing again after three months...

Mar 22, 2017, 11:26 AM
Honestly I don't think Desu Esca will require 80/80 considering its gonna be a while before the majority of the playerbase reachs 80/80. Would probably expect the December raid quest to be the first to require it.

Mar 22, 2017, 11:27 AM
I think Sega is aware of their playerbase enough to know that a big portion of them won't have enough time to reach 80/80 for deus esca. There'll be enough backlash to change their minds immediately.

The grind is back!!! xD Joke aside, i doubt Deus ESCA will have that requirement, it's pretty long to do lv 76 to l80 since it's pretty much like redoing the 21 class excubes leveling (though i wonder how some ppl already got to lvl80), and if they see their game more like about playing during EQ time rather than outside of EQ time, and many ppl can't spend hours every day on PSO2, 1 month is gonna be short to do that even on 1 char

EDIT : just wanted to add : when will they add the remaining areas to AQs? that would certainly help to add some variations during the leveling, i don't even ask them to add new stones/weapons in them ^^;

Leveling HU as RA/HU is going to be painful
Leveling subclasses in general is gonna be annoying.

I'm probably gonna deal with subclasses solely through bonus quests, while playing normally using main classes.

This ;w;

Levelling my Hu or Ra for GuHu / GuRa on my main (only have Hu, Gu, and Ra to 75) ........ without Hu or Ra tree as main ..... will pretty much rely on rng (Bonus Key to drop) ;w;
Only got to 76 from last week's Bonus Key (done recommended quest for a week)

Quite painful with that very steep Exp ;w;

As far as 35+ goes I'd really like to assume that's why they brought back the Revolution series for a whole year so people would have access to getting 35+ easier.

The only draw back of course is either not using said weapon (I don't know how decent/bad the new potential is)

What grind?
75 ---> 80
to me is pretty much a week of playing for those who brand themselves as hardcore.

It's more about the sudden jump in EXP requirements compared to the EXP requirements beforehand. No one said that it wasn't easily achievable for someone who plays frequently enough to be considered "hardcore".

My prediction for this is as such: Right now they're using a level cap raise as filler content, which is why the exp requirement is so high (as it were).

When sega actually add content that has a requirement of 80/x, they'll do what they did in the past, and retroactively change the curve and requirements to simply be a +35 nt weapon, and the exp curve to what it would normally be (previous level +35k exp or so), lower the classcube for overlevel from 5 > 1 (to keep it in line with only requiring 1/5th of the exp at that point). This'll put anybody who actually gets to level 80 on their off classes with a huge exp advantage of around negative 30 million exp, allowing them to either get a whole load of classcubes at once, or simply leave it sitting there until they raise the level cap again in the future (lets be honest, a lot of people have no interest in playing certain classes outside of sub purposes, like hu or te) and instantly gain multiple levels.

Don't get me wrong though, it's still overly stupid to have required ~41m exp and a +35 weapon to get the unlock for 75 > 80, and then dump another 40 odd million ontop of that. It's not DIFFICULT if you actually play the class in question regularly (as you'll get a shitload of exp without even really realising it), but it IS tedious as all hell if you don't. I've already seen the new expert block requirements (a +35 weapon and whatever else) actively ignored in necky TD, with someone using completely ungrinded/unaffixed weapons and units, so even if you put stupid requirements on things doesn't mean people will play along.

not that the grind is hard or unreasonable, but it's kinda silly to play off the sharp curve increase as if its nothing lol.

Time to rock the Dragon Slayer once again for leveling Hunter. It's so damn mind numbing but it gets the job done. Featured LQ's seem to be really good for exp right now so it shouldn't be too hard to hit 80. Twice.

76 to 80 seems to be in the range of 2 million exp more than the 4 skill point COs combined; the EXP to get the 5 class cubes for Level Cap Bonuses is about 4.9x of getting the single cube at level 75

the update trailers from the dev stream already show that Deus Esca will not require level 80 to enter:

Releasing new content in small quantities at a time, just enough to keep people interested.

EDIT: And yes, I agree that content release ratio of PSO2 got only better in time.

Ah....I mean...they release new content on a bit of a regular basis but I wouldn't consider it dripfeeding at least in a negative perspective

After today's Livestream SG attack event, levelling shouldn't be that bad. The level up missions for the duration of the livestream is +200%, so you're basically getting x3, on top of any other exp bonuses you have. I basically barrelled through 79 > 80 in a little over 90 minutes.

Nope. The +200% Level Up quests is only for the duration of the 12 hour livestream and SG attack event. Which people should be running anyway, so that we get more SG. And also because only the players that contribute points will get the SG.

Alternatvely, just run the freatured quests of the day until you get a gold key, then use a triboost and +75% exp and wheeeeeeeeee....
It takes 12 tokyo gold keys to get from 75 to 80.
