Because I am confident that that is actually just a smiley of us with sunglasses on, and the room isn't completely dark, but has low light that is being made to seem completely dark because we're too cool to take off our sunglasses indoors.

You stumble around the dark for a good while until you find a door handle. the door opens flooding the dark room with light. a quick glance back reveals you where inside a bathroom with the lights off.
Ahead of you is a hallway, to the right the hallway continues around a corner and to the left the hallway heads down a flight of stairs, where you can hear music playing.

You decide its best to go back into the bathroom. turning on the light in the bathroom reveals a cellphone on the ground. its yours, but the screen is broken. There is nothing else in this room so you head out and decide where to go next.
