For anyone who still gives a shit, the website now give a "DNS address could not be found" error.

very likely that hosting simply expired as no one was renewing it since back then. "killing" it sounds like too much attention to something like this.

yea the domain is still working (until may 2018 if they not do anything about it) so does the name server, the hosting must be the one that got expiring

I guess they just let it quietly die off. I'd assume most of the "waiters" from 2012 either jumped on the JP servers or just moved on altogether. This game's so long in the tooth that we've seen an entire console generation come and go! On top of that, we've seen like.... three WoW expansions plus FF14 coming back from the dead and having a couple expansions as well.
