Of course not, I don't expect people who are really established in JP to move over. Even I didn't want to start over but considering that my friends are actually interested in the game now that it's getting an official NA release, that's enough reason to start fresh. I'd imagine plenty other folks are crossing over for that reason as well as the prospect of a more active playerbase compared to JP

At best you'll have JP people playing to waste time while waiting for JP updates but with NAs slow content release and massive scratch push, I doubt many of the long time JPs will play a whole lot there outside of leveling and events.

The MS store is trash though, while naturally not everyone has issues, there have been many cases of it having problems with even downloading/updating games.

Yeah, this sucks for anyone not on Win 10. I don't know if's possible to play Windows Store games via Proton/Wine on Linux either. And like ezodagrom mentioned, I hear a lot of stories of how garbage the store is. I expect there will be a lot of posts on the subreddit/twitter about people having issues downloading PSO2

a) Japanese players don't need to pay for this
b) It won't bring any extra to the table (cheaper premium, cheaper AC, better drops, etc.)
c) PC gamers are not use to pay monthly fees to play online nowadays unless you're talking WoW

I've been playing since the first alpha test and I can count on my one hand how many people plan to move over. Most just plan on poking around. Those are dedicated to move are those who can't hit any of the EQs because of work, or can't gear up like they want to because of the economy. Or they just hate the cesspool of block 1.

Microsoft did try to introduce the fee on PC back with Games for Windows Live more than 10 years ago, it failed completely.

But yeah, every XBox game that has online multiplayer that has been brought to PC doesn't have the gold fee.

I actually miss the episode 3 and 4 content. It was really varied and a lot of fun, even the xmas EQs. Now it's just catered to clearing as fast as possible to get the most runs in stop nobody touches the older stuff.

The first issue this person had was literally what instantly turned me off from taking PSO2NA seriously.

Update: after watching most of the video, that whole weapon change issue really turns me off from the game.

Been a whilce since I playd the JP version since it was, for a tims, all we had. However, when SEGA wiped out a ton of US accounts I was sadly also along with that mass wipe. So i put the game off for a long time till news of it coming to NA spared my interest again.

Only thing from PSO2es (idk about weapons) in an exchange shop atm are weaponoid boosters. Soul receptors and Factor receptors do not exist in NA "yet".

There were 3 huge ban waves I can think of on the JP servers.

The first ban wave was September 2012 about a month after launch due to an exploit in the old lobby where you could spam skills and get out of the map. It was pretty neat because it was the one time you could actually run into the GM accounts in the lobby. Anyone caught using the exploit got perma banned (including my alt I tried it on for fun).

The next was the huge actual IP ban wave in June 2014 due to the ddos attack the servers got hit with. 2ch went wild with conspiracy theories at the time and blamed China, I dunno if it was ever confirmed but the SEA players were blamed in the end for the great exodus of foreigners.

2015-2016 had on-off IP ban waves, sometimes you could get on others you had to use a proxy. I never personally had an issue during this time but I know a few Americans and one Australian who got hit. Especially in 2015 there used to be a tool that told you if dirty foreigners were blocked that day.

Then they stopped caring because episode 5 was just that bad they needed players.

Most people, in general, are joining Ship2. Anyone with a brain will avoid Ship2, unfortunately I do not have such a thing.

It's a toss up between 4 servers actually.

Ship 1 for filthy casuals who've never played PSO2 and want nothing to do with the JP players.
Ship 2 for everyone and anyone who thinks they know how to play but probably still ran Saiki units in 2019
Ship 3 for people who just want a good time and don't want all the crap
Ship 4 if it opens so people aren't stuck with a crap economy and players who have items you can't get.

Tried downloading it on my brother's computer (his is a lot better than mine). Finally got it to download, but now I'm stuck at 7.19 gigs out of 11.14 gigs downloaded.

Not sure if this was posted here yet, but character files from the Japanese version work flawlessly. I was able to realign my NA char with how he looked in JP during the EP4 era without any issues.

Well...I'm of the lucky few that managed to get in without any Microsoft Store/launcher problems. In-game, things seem fine except that loading menus/people/etc can kill your FPS baaaad. Hanging out in the lobby is straight awful

I waited 8 years for this. Took 4 reinstall. Disabling all firewalls. Making sure I had at least 80 gb free space, the 11 gb they say is a lie, the rest comes in the patch you have to suffer through. Suffered many crashes/error messages in character create. After basically 2 days of trying to figure out / fix / Im finally in and the lobby is a molasses mess and frame skipping. I waited 8 years, I am going to wait to see if they fix any of this because this launch for an 8 year old game was lackluster to put it mildly. I have other friends who are still struggling with loading in. Struggling with character create. And in some cases gameguard disappeared and wont even launch the launcher... etc etc etc.

I am disappointed to say the least, but what did I expect from Segac...

When you are on (1/2), it is counting files, not downloading them. It starts downloading them at (2/2).

I've actually stopped and started the download a few times (since it was lagging other things I was doing). Each time at (1/2) it counted to about 90K, but at (2/2) it started where I stopped it.

To be fair, the whole process did take all day though.


Well...I'm of the lucky few that managed to get in without any Microsoft Store/launcher problems. In-game, things seem fine except that loading menus/people/etc can kill your FPS baaaad. Hanging out in the lobby is straight awful

just go play on JP, infinitely better and none of the hassle that NA is giving AND with an English patch AND you're supporting the actual company making content directly

He's not exactly wrong either, the amount of players was ... surprising. Imagine if the launch went well and everyone was able to log in fine. Pretty sure the Servers would explode and we would have very different kinds of angry posts here.
Considering how low profile that launch was this is pretty interesting. Word of Mouth is truly powerfull
