Saw this posted on reddit, an interview with YSOK about current and future content.

Some tidbits:

Etoile is less popular than expected.
New class will have the “speed” similar to hero.
No changes to expert, though he’s aware some people want harder conditions.
He’s aware people are having trouble with inventory bloating but no changes expected during EP6.
Changes to cassino, riding, challenge are expected during this year.
Changes to gunlash
NA is nearing 1m accounts.
NA percentage of “casual” players is higher.
New Raid wont have hard dps checks nor deaths limit.
New class name will be revealed 8/7
New class will have only one weapon (gunslash)
New class won’t be able to use techs from main or sub palette. ???
Not Episode 7 will bring a lots of changes.

Other than those listed on reddit, a bit of extra tidbits from what I could see through google translator:
- Gunslash class won't have a class representative, Koffie will handle its explanation?
- It seems like when using the new class as a subclass, it'll bring with it improvements for regular gunslashes?
- When it comes to class balancing, hero boost is something that is highly requested to be improved.
- Ep6 final boss EQ's length, it may be hard for multi-shippers to get 3 runs out of it?
- New 12 player EQ will be somewhat like armada?
- The highly difficult solo quest may be a bit like the masquerade solo ultimate? At least difficulty wise.
- Divide quest extension will be about steps above 30.
- Not Ep7, "there are bigger changes than you think".

Really looking forward to gameplay for the new class and I hope they'll balance Hero Boost in a way that Hero's DPS won't get crippled for tripping over a rock in UH

The interview goes over more details after saying that Etoile is a little bit less used than expected.

Let's see, while hero was the most popular class in the anniversary survey report, the report is about all content/difficulties, there are many players using Phantom or Etoile on Ultra Hard.

It also depends on the type of content:
- Etoile is more popular in content where damage received is part of the ranking, like the battleship ultimate quest.
- Both Phantom and Etoile are popular on divide quests.
- Etoile is less popular on easier content like seasonal EQs.
- Hero and Ranger tend to be more popular on large boss EQs.

Kinda makes sense about Etoile. For me, Sword Hero had all you could want as a casual. You could get by with mindless Weapon action+Vapor with decent DPS and low risk and even use their regular attack with minimal effort, or play risky with their counters for top DPS. Hero boost was always a problem, but in XH you could safely take half of the attacks before losing your boost.

It wasnt until UH came that I had to switch to Phantom because Hero wasnt cutting it in the casual department. Phantom had similar easy ranged and sustained damage with Rifle, and while it was slightly weaker on paper, it had better uptime because no Hero Boost liability. You could also switch to Rod or Katana for real DPS and mobbing(better than Brightness End imo) when needed.

When Etoile came, its main deal was its damage reduction which I didnt like because of having to give up techs/lifesteal/regen healing for manual mate usage. It had no ranged PP recovery, and in general it doesnt have many long range/fast attack for spread trash. For me, it feels like a more fluid/mobile Hunter, focusing in AOE and tanking, but still a melee class with less versatility than previous Successors.

I only use Hero in my mules to do weeklies mostly because I am too lazy to level Phantom in them, and Hero works well enough for those. Couldnt stand doing DQ with them though. I had to go in parties to get my modules. Never saw much appeal in Etoile as a main class, and even as a Sub, I personally prefer other options.

Theories on why the new class has no class instructor:

The player character themselves invents the class.
The class is not invented, but found. Perhaps it was dug up while researching the Photoners' records (especially considering the class outfit and weapon's color schemes.)
(For lulz) Itsuki invented it because he desperately wanted to main his favorite weapon. But he's too busy with Earth stuff to come over and explain it himself.

It's also possible that after the ep6 final boss there will be no more new story related content, and so the lack of a class representative for the gunslash class. :/

I guess that depends on the direction the story takes nearing its conclusion. Wonder if anyone has any story leaks considering all the datamining.

Rip using it on Anga and Masquerade...

My guess is Anga and Masquerade just won't resist gunslash for the new class, I mean how else would that work otherwise?

For Masquerade, the GS class would simply need enough PAs or alternative versions of those PAs so that Masquerade can't nullify them all.

For Anga, either you simply get screwed (lol), or maybe the GS class will have a skill that won't allow gunslashes to be resisted by enemies. I don't think this skill would work on Masquerade's nullifications since that is a key mechanic for that fight, but I wouldn't put it past Sega to neglect that. :-P

The problem is that when Masquerade blocks your strong PA's, you will have to attack him with your weak PA's, instead of changing to another weapon that does more damage.
If Masquerade does not count all 3 PA's variants (the 3 compound variations every PA has) as different attacks, then the class will have a hard time against Masquerade, We will have to see what happens

The class still loses against Anga by not having a spare weapon to use.

Heard there was huge spoilers found in the data on the PSO2 Discord, but you actually have to ask to be DM'd the spoilers as it is against the Discord rules to put story spoilers on it.

Kril and mil i never saw anga null the takt its because of :

1 i have no reason to go alone to an ultimate quest
2 in the EQ on ultimate forest i was playing as summoner and Anga never null the takt despite i was in a few rounds which there was 3 summoners including me
3 in the 7th aniversary LQ a year ago in ultimate ambducia tileset, Anga never null the takt , hell i was carrying my friends in that LQ as summoner
(oh i really miss that LQ)

You have to smack Anga with takt directly in melee range.

Lolwat? Check your math and come back because et sub is damn good and feels almost op for some builds.

Speculation or confirmed? Would be rather disappointing because there might be a lot of potential and in the first place this won't even that great unless there is a good 15* gunslash with high t-atk

Anyway, I do hope that new class (Vanguard? that name was mentioned here but is it correct?) does have the option to use not only its own unique gs pas but also regular gs pas because I want to use regular gs with decent dps pas as well.

since you need to physically hit Anga with the Tact, you would never see apply on resistance if it was only your pet hitting it because they essentially would screw the class over pretty easily and I'm sure Sega knew nobody would bother to go in to zero range as a Su to make this happen

Few things:
1. You obviously read the interview information right?
2. Again, you read the information right? so you know that the name for the class would be announced on the upcoming stream and that people keep saying Vanguard because of past games which at this point the class doesn't even represent Vanguard in any ways
3. Even if it could use the OT Pa's, why bother when the newer ones would over take it? you would be doing this for meme's sake
