I seriously think they are on crack.

I have one proof of something that might show that they are...

1.) MONSTER NAMES

Look at every monster you have fought then come back here and show me that they are on crack...

This is true. I mean, "Pal Shark", whats that? A shark that wants to befriend you by chomping off an arm or two?

Or "Poifully Slime" I wonder how you even pronounce such a word.

Actually Chaz, I think most of the funny names can be written up as the Japanese thought process.

The Japanese are like that, they make funny names and get a kick out of it. I read in the PSO Guide that Dark Flaz/Force's original name was Dark Phallus.

Phallus? Hey, I won't even TOUCH that name, it's too easy to make fun of....

Maybe thats why I've always been a PC Gamer first and foremost. In fallout and Baldur's Gate, the monster names don't get any stranger then "Mr. Handy" in Fallout, or "Flesh Golem" in BG.

Well, actually, Mr. Handy was a weird name, but it had a hidden meaning. (He appeared in the game's opening movie for a brief second)

Why? Are you a Sonic Team Programmer?

If so, you aren't on Crack, you are rolling around in Dollar bills like Scrooge McDuck in his money bin.

Or is that Yen?

100 posts is gonna be a long road to travel...

No, I'm wondering why you assume they're on crack for giving their creations funny names. What about Bunny Foo Foo gathering up all the field mice and bopping them on the head? That's crack-head material if I've ever seen it. Or - In Xanadu did Kubla Khan a stately pleasure-dome decree, &c. Naw, that's opium weirdness. I think it's creativity.

You have it wrong, I *disagreed* with Chaz, I chalked it up to Japanese Wackiness, which it is.

nothing more, nothing less.

Woo, now I really am on crack - sorry 'bout that.

Nah, you're O.K., It's the programmers for Phantasy Star 3 that were on crack. I know that the Genesis had limitations, but when a giant, 20 foot tall Blue guy with rippling muscles attacks your party by twitching his index finger, or a Golem strikes you with a wiggle of his right foot...something is very wrong.

I'm not dissing PS3, but thats one game where you have to wonder if someone at Sega spiked the water cooler...

I think I'll retire here. Post 12? Good for one night.

Also, some of the name may be 'borrowed' versions from the Japanese names, which may sound a whole lot more sensible. For example, I believe Sinow Beats were called Shino Beats in Japan. Now, I don't know Thing One about Japanese language, but Shino may by a Japanese word for something, and when it was redone in English, they kept something similar to the sound of the word rather than the meaning. It's happened plenty of times before in anime...
