View Full Version : Non-Androids can now be shorted? Pointless

I just got Xbox PSO a week or two ago and I notice that I shorted out when I was hit be lightning. At first I thought it was a glitch so I quit the game and started it up again. I went back to the mines only to get shorted again. Later, I got online and asked some people about it an they said that everyone can be shorted out now.
I think it's pointless because in real life, humans don't get shorted out; only machinces get shorted out. It also kinda unbalances out the system. Androids and non androids had advantages and disavantages over each other, but now one of the advantages we had over androids is gone.

I don't think that this game is supposed to immitate real life in the first place so it's not a big suprise to me.

Non androids have many advantages over androids like being able to use support and attack techniques. When I am playing with androids they rely on me to heal and support them with my techs so I often feel like I have more of an advantage as a non-android.

I think that if living creature was hit with enough electricity, that they would be paralyzed in at least some areas, but I'm not all that sure on this.

Well a large electric shock would certantly stun a human...

You kidding? You try getting hit by lightning and see if you can still move around immediately!
My theory is that it hits your armour and kills the internal battery making it alot heavier.

Just think of it as a short time paralysis. o_O Wait long enough and it will go away.
Only problem is, you have to use Sols if you're solo and you want to get rid of it. XD

Nah, just use Cure/Shock.
I noticed leveling up also reduces the chances of Shock. Try going in Very Hard Mines around 55, fight Vol Opt, get hit a lot, beat him, and revisit the place at 90 or 100.

That shock status on non-android chars is VERY annoying fighting Vol Opt.
Totally pointless if you ask me, maybe it was done to encourage players to use cure/shock units or something..

Yep. Taser. Those pretty much paralyse ya for a bit. Hey, even when you are paralysed you can move around and use items... you can even change your customizations... *shrug* Just accept it.

Exactly.
And for the record, it's not "Short" any more, nor is it pointless, now, the official term for the status effect is "Shock," as seen in the freaking manual, in case you didn't read it.

No, it's like Paralysis and Freeze. Team mates will come to your rescue if they are a good team. If they're dupe-using item-stealing players, then you have problems. ^_^
Plus, it forces you to carry Sols. ^_^ Paralysis is much worse due to the super-long time it takes to wear off, and if it weren't for anti-paralysis, you'd be crying. o_O
Shock is more of the paralysis for androids, really... and it's good! They can see how the organics feel! ;_;

Yep, I think the electric shock thing is kinda lame too...but it does make Volt Opt alot harder. He was SO easy back on the Dreamcast..

Eventually, yes. One of these days, I should test it and measure how long it takes. o_O

One of the androids advantages is avoid some status effects but shock killed a bit this advantage. Now that all classes cna get shocked androids have a truly advantage in status effects. Now shock is made for much more enemies and it lasts a bit longer than in DC. It would be a pain for androids if it affected them only.

LOL - at least the people who made the game can spell. They're not that retarded.
But they are a bit.
Well actually a lot.

Hmm, we GC PSO players do not have to woryy about this. And if a real human was hit by lightning, you'd be hit by the status effect called 'death'. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
You wont be moving alright.

On the contrary, survivors of lightning strikes tend to note that they have feelings of paralysis, and they rarely move around easily after that. o_O
I imagine there would be a lot of twitching too. ^_^;;

Oh yea, you are telling me...those megid and shock monkeys are a pain in the you know what!
Try the gryphon on any difficulty. He will most certininly encourage you go go hunt down a cure/shock...I got one mainly for that reason..heh.
Of all the status ailments in the game shock has to be the most dang annoying of em all. The only solution is to either have sol atomz with you or get a cure/shock.
On another note...about Vol Opt. If you hit the "red" post instead of all the others you will not be shocked nearly as much. When you hit a post other then the one that is flashing red you are getting a little shock punishment. Oh, and make sure you always knock down that amp hanging up in the middle of the ceiling. This will make your life a whole lot easier when playing Vol Opt..hehe.
