Best: PSO Ep 1 and 2 Gamecube
-By far the most balanced gameplay, duping is a problem but it is the only seriously problem with cheating.
2nd: PSO Ep 1 and 2 Xbox
-Close, but cheating is more prevalent than on Gamecube. Item hacking and level 200 hacks take it down a notch, and to me voice chat is more annoying than it is good.
3rd: PSO Dreamcast
-Fairly balanced gameplay, but the amount of cheats was out of hand
Worst: PSO Version 2 Dreamcast
-Horribly unbalanced gameplay, and every cheat imaginable. NOL, Lobby FSOD, Item Creation, 60/60/60 and 180 hacks, what didnt end up broken with this game?

Dreamcast V1
The only version where you could go into ruins on the hardest difficulty, and survive all the way to falz and even defeat falls. those were the days. Also, the "No Death" community existed for there which was really fun. you die, you recreate your character. kinda like Diablo II's system. As for cheats, once you reached lvl 100, it really didn't matter anymore, you could beat anything with your bare hands. also, walk through doors trick, way cool for the bug where you had to play forest caves mines again to get into ruins.

Yup, can't beat the first few moments of DC PSO, when everything was so fresh, new, exciting....

heh...
I have only played on the Gamecube...
So im not really an expert but I have played pso for 450 hours and it's my favorite game still.
But because I heard of many bad things about Xbox pso, I still think Gamecube pso is better.
I heard that you can't play "Gallon's shop" quest.
It doesn't only cost to play online but offline!
Voice chat, my friends think it's annoying.
And the worst problem is that it's extremely easy to hack I think and this horrible cheat someone mentioned:
Level 200 in a forest run...
All weapons have more than 80% hit...
50% chance of getting a rare item from monsters...
50% of the monsters are rare monsters...

I'll never go to the X-Box even if it's better than the GameCube which in my opinion is not. I grow up with Nintendo.

I grew up on Nintendo as well, and normally would've gotten the GC version. However, all my friends went Xbox, so I'm forced to buy PSOX. Oh well. It's kind of disappointing to hear all the fun is on the GC version, while the hacks are on the Xbox. I thought with the Xbox being the newer version, it would've been better off.

PSOGC is the best, PSOX is full of noobs... i played it for like 10 minutes, first thing i heard OMFG WHAT DO I DO WITH RAPPYS FAN!?!?!? i hate it, then the hackers http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif.. lol lvl 200 *cough* hmm, if you see any1 w/ {X} tag, thats the clan bwha. {X}"DF" is the leader, followed by {X}Black-Imp and {X}Ghost, which would be me http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

I voted for PSO Episodes 1&2 on the Gamcube.
Now admittedly the only versions of PSO that I have ever played are Version 1 on the dreamcast and Episodes 1&2 on the Gamecube so I probably am not the most quualified person out there to pass judgement on which game is the best but I just have to go with my gut instinct. In My opinion Eipsodes 1&2 on the Gamecube and on the X-Box are the definitive versions of PSO available and as such they are the best versions available and with the exception of some very minor differences both games are identical ( so they are not really any better off than the other ) , the thing that lets the X-Box version down ( at least from what I hear ) is the all the Hacking and that in my opinion is what raises the Gamecube version far above the X-Box one. The Gamecube version has also been out longer and seems to have more of the die hard PSO'ers on it where as the X-Box Version seems to have more newbs, this in turn gives me the impression that due to it's size and the better atmosphere that the Gamecube version also has the better community. Last but not least the voice chat thing just seems very daft to and corny to me, another strike against the X-Box. Of course as I mentioned earlier I have never played the X-Box version so I can't say for sure just how bad things are over there ( although I have heard nothing but bad things about X-Box PSO ), likwise I have never been only with the Gamecube version so I have no idea how bad it can get online over here as well.

I chose dreamcast v2 only because of the cmode. Back on dreamcast the cmode ship was always full and there were lots of people who enjoyed playing cmode, but now on gamecube the cmode ship is never full hardly not as many people do cmode. But for regular gameplay gamecube is better.

While both versions of ep 1&2 are technically better, I voted for v1 on the dreamcast because all the improvements are simply building on the initial brilliance of pso.

I voted PSO v1 for dreamcast. The game that started it all. Plus I still play it, and I also got a friend to snatch up a copy this week, since its currently playable for free, I get to go through finishing my current character while taking someone through the world of PSO for the first time. Thanx to sonic team for keeping dreamcast PSO still available. If it wasn't for PSO v1, I never would have even known how great PSO really is.

man the X-Box version is by far the best. I can't believe people are actually saying voice chat is a negative. Thats absurd. on all the other version, you have to type while you are playing at the same time! I remember doin that for DC and it was very annoying. Also, GC and X-Box have just as many hacks. You cant really use the hacking thing to compare these games because they all have hacks. X-Box has better controls than gamecube too. True, the GC does have more downloadable stuff but the X-Box will get these things eventually

what should be said about version 2 is that it expanded the limits a bit over version 1. although it was terribly hacked, if you take sonic team intended game you will see that it was very well balanced. beginners could choose humar and have a very easy time. experts would choose the more specialised characters. cmode was difficult but the payoff was well worth it. the game also seemed to give you what you needed as you progressed.
the gamecube version seems to have taken every opportunity to reduce cheats. sonic team sacrificed gameplay just to induce a no-cheat experience. anything that could be exploited was reduced in its effectiveness. and they also created a new set of exploits to favor classes that some thought were too hard to use. i love pso, but if i were cynical, i would hate pso ep.1+2. rather than police the servers and provide a controlled environment, they have decided to take a hands-off approach.
lets list the things that they have done to stop cheating:
pk is not worth it because of no item dropping.
hidden weapon percents are useless because only hit percents make a difference. area percents may as well not exist in ep. 1+2.
duped s-ranked weapons are useless because thay have been tamed. they are just status symbols now.
uber rares are not as strong as they once were, therfore there is little reason to dupe them. most rare weapons are just gimmicky and pretty.
monsters have been given less atp and evp to make rares less of a necessity. (could anyone do anything in ultimate version 2 with a gigush?)
i have said enough. i voted for the golden age of version 2. before xploder, it was the best version.

I didn't vote because they all suck and every one has tons of problems. Most people are just saying Gamecube because that's the one they play. The rest of the people vote XBox because they play PSOX. Furthermore, this is a retarded thread.

I haven't voted yet but I will when I play PSO GC. But I do own PSO X-BOX and I find it good, I still have a long way to go before lvl 200 (NO CHEATING) but I find the community alright except for the people who are abusing the voice chat. So far I haven't met a lvl 200 and haven't owned a duped weapon so in my opinion : there is alot of rumors about each version to cause disruption to a good community that like the nearly exact same game only do not realize it. PSO on any system is good. It isn't the games fault for the cheats/hacks, it's unfortunatly the unhonest players. Please stop fighting about which version is better, because when you bring it down to just the game not the wrongful exploits and players, it is the same awesome game!
