Projectile weapons more useful later on?

Dark Force 0, Varista 3.

By the time I get to the mines, with the quick flying enemies and the robots that bounce back when you hit them, I find projectile weapons are easier to use there. Then I get to the ruins, Daminians are so fast, it's easier to just stand back and shoot at them. On the lower difficulty levels, I can handle the later stages. But as I went through each level, even going 'I'm gonna use a sword this time' I ended up going back to a hand gun. I finally found a Double Saber after looking long and hard, but I just seem to take lots for my trouble in the Very Hard ruins, and spend a lot of time missing things darting around in the Mines.
For the final boss, he tends to be moving, or out of reach, so again, handgun time.
Opinions? Stragedy used by other hunters?

I have to agree with your opinion, generally. For the first 2 levels of the game, I typically use a sword, but for Mines and Ruins a gun is usually so much easier as a weapon.

However...the bosses are a different matter. Here's what I use...

Dragon - Handgun
De Rol Le - Partisan or Soul Eater
Del Opt - Partisan or Soul Eater
Dark Falz - Handgun

That's how I fight. Dragon 'cause I hate when it flies, worm because of the multiple body parts, machine because it also has multiple parts, and Dark Falz 'cause she's always out of reach.
