View Full Version : What a difference...

Before last night, I never tried playing on the Japanese servers. My curiousity got the best of me yesterday though, and I took a trip over there just to see what was going on. The difference between the US players and Japanese is AMAZING. First of all... if the Japanese know about item duping/cheating, not many take advantage of it. On the US servers, it seems everyone and there brother has a MAG cell, and extremely rare weapons. I played 4 Japanese games with characters in the 70-100 levels and not one of them were using a MAG cell.
I had forgotten how great this game was before the dupers came along. When rare items are *truly* rare, and every lvl 50 character doesn't have a Opa Opa cell... finding a double-saber seems much more monumental. The game has so much more depth and playability to it when you actually have to play with some level of strategy, instead of just having 4 people with spread needles blow away everything in the room.
I know I am not the first person to complain about how dupers have cheapened the game. I also know I am not the first to extoll the virtues of the Japanese players. But you all should take a trip to the JP Ships once in a while... you'll be amazed at what a different experience it is.

mmm... dupers don't make the game any less "in-depth", the programmers who thought up making the ultimate gun that anyone can use (aka, the spread needle... and heaven punisher to a lesser extent) are the ones to blame for that, every other "rare" weapon has a slight jealousy factor, but no real importance. But my overly long rambling has already been written about that subject...
Japanese are more respectful of course. I used to play there, but the using of the prewritten phrases finally got to me... can't say hardly nothin important with em, so it ends up bein not so fun. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_frown.gif

I disagree... you can't blame programmers for a bunch of level 40 players running around with spread needles. If people weren't cheating, a spread needle would still be a fairly uncommon weapon. Sure, it's powerful... but that's why it's meant to be rare. So that everyone doesn't unbalance the game.
I already responded to your questionable ethics about cheating in your other post, so I won't get into it here. The point of this thread was that I was amazed at how there was little to no duping cheating in Japan, and it is like an infestation on the U.S. servers.

Nah.. i'm not surprised.. it's because most of the cheaters are unmoralistic Materialistic children who have probibly gotten everything they have asked for from mommy and daddy. They probibly don't realize how to earn something since it was probibly always given to the... The same people that are on GSCCC ranting and raving how they can do anything they want and they don't care who it effects.. I DO play on the Jap servers, becuase I don't have to deal with all the begging, duping, Item creation, theft, and just plain annoying assholes.. I have alot of friends on there and have a better experience..

That's awesome shala__.. what time do you usually play? I only speak very broken Japanese, so it would be nice to find some other English speakers on there to play with.

STANDARD NOTE: Feel free to just hop over this one.
Well, one thing about the japanese (far as I know, which is very little) is that their culture is based more on my favorite traits: Honor and respect. American culture on the other hand... 9 out of 10 times if someone gets the chance to cheat, they will. Why do you think lawyers are so hated? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif
But on a more curious note: I still wonder if a Diablo game was ever over in Japan. That game is basically the hole basis for the obsession of cheating online. Gameshark has been around for as long as video games too (among other cheat tools), so that also contributes to the console side of the cheating.
I'd probably sound like a hypocrite (sp?) for this, but I don't mind too much on the cheating, what I do mind is the people who have to show off that they have cheated. Sadly you can't do anything along the lines of keeping someone you know is cheating out of your games (much like you can't shut up those annoying beggars). I wouldn't mind if someone was cheating on their own time, but I DO mind when they decide to involve me by walking over me (aka: spread needlers coming into my force's game, and outright bypassing the fact that I am IN that game and I MADE the room, and they are too LAZY to make their OWN room to do the same thing they set out to do, play the forest level).
I always make a room titled Wandering. Always start alone and let others join as I go on (one way to meet people). 7-10 is my ratio of finding outright jerks to good people. I often have to stoop to the jerk level just to keep a meseta flow coming to my Force (now that he can use his mind guns, I can finally step back a bit). Low level people just outright being greedy just because "oh, I'm so low I'll probably hardly see this area at this difficulty". I am almost to the point of just letting the people that do that just sit as a corpse while I kill everything, get the xp and the items, then debate to revive or leave. Almost.
*cough*stopranting*cough*
Ok, I'm done. The few times I open my mouth, the train starts a runnin and don't stop till it hits a dead end.
