This is the first best PSO piece of Fanart I've done to date; the rest is either in progress or sketches. At any rate, to the picture!

Note that on Webshots you can adjust to have it fit the screen (which looks ugly) or the normal size. For best viewing, click on the bubble for normal size.

Artist's comments: The pose should look familiar. One of my main purposes behind this rendering was to get the feel for how the HUmar outfit works, and what it should look like. Basically, I wanted to stick my character Solin (not from the Phantasy Star universe) in PSO clothes.

When I scanned it, I didn't realize I had forgotten a few minor details... http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_redface.gif So eventually I'll rescan it.

A colored version is forthcoming, but don't expect it anytime soon. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

Edit: Changed the link to the new uploaded pic. Update notes are below.

Good job! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif A few places look kind of strange, but over all its very good!

nice. Add a bit more shadowing to it and it would look a lot better http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

But thats just me, I like the shadows O_O

The shadows are just smudges that came through on the scan. Hopefully with the next scan they'll be cleaned up better. ^v^ And by the by, I do my shading when I color it. For a general idea, look at the shading on either of these two other pics:

Since I won't be inking this piece, though, the first picture is the best example. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif The hair will turn out more like the latter pic.

Awhile ago, I finally finished tidying up the lines and added details to the HUmar pic, but just a week or so ago I actually got around to scanning it and piecing it together. (My actual art pad is considerably larger than my scanner - but that doesn't matter so much anymore because the bloody thing is falling apart. Note to other artists: always buy wire-bound sketchbooks and not the adhesive-binder crap!)

Anyway, I've put most of the base colors down and have managed to shade the face and hair. I think I got the eyes colored and all spiffed before I really did any other coloring...

Here's a preview pic: http://community.webshots.com/photo/30382882/82829226PuVWwR.

It came out considerably darker than it does while I'm working in Photoshop...mrr. Maybe I'll play with the brightness/contrast levels later...
