So, I decide one day that I am going to start up a new character after coming to the conclusion that Purplenum is the single worst section ID you could get, and Nei will never find anything worth having.
So there I am, running around with my new character Neifirst, with a nice 200 level mag that she got on loan from Nei, a brand new section ID and a Double Saber that Nei wasn't using either. Ten minutes into the game (on Puck 9 no less!) i get bombarded with people telling me that I am cheating. After explaining that A: I earned these with a different character, and B: If I was going to cheat i think I could do better then Baraja(sp?) and a fricken double saber, not to mention that I would be level 100, not level 2 they still gave me problems.
Anyway, I leave it to you, my peers to decide, is item transfer cheating?
Kind of. You start a new character to have a fresh start don't you? Well, giving your new character stuff from your old character kind of disrupts this purpose.

Item transferring is definitely not cheating. You earned those items, so you can do with them as you see fit. I just started a new Hunter, after playing with my Ranger forever, and he had quite a collection of Hunter rares to pass on.. And a lvl 200 mag that I raised along side my regular mag. So I get the same thing all the time. My lvl 15 hunter has a lvl 200 mag and god/power, so most normal monsters drop with extremely little effort.
For what I think is the perfect solution to this, see my previous thread: The Gauntlet, A Return to Honor.
A perfect example right there. John your level 15 right? What level characters do you play with online? Mostly 1-20 right? Well, your kind of cheating them. How many people that you play with have a level 200 mag and a god power? Very little if any. Your big advantage over them is causing them to level up alot slower than they should.
I hated it when I was lvl 7 and playing on normal and all of a sudden a lvl 25 character comes in with a spread needle, or any other powerful weapon that had a much bigger advantage than my handgun+5.
But then again, if your not an "exp hogger" than that's different. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif

I'd have to agree with dt2 on this one. I suppose it's no big deal if you transfer your legit items from one character to another, but if you use those items before you normally would be able to wield them, by all means, make sure you are playing online with people not of the same character level, but of the same threat level. In other words, if, with your transfered gear, you are doing 75 to 80 damage to the creature at level 3, it is unfair to enter a team with a bunch of legit third levels. Instead, find a group of level 30 or so people, and hack along side them.
Oh, and be prepared to be accused of being a sharker or cheater; it's an understandable assumption, given the appearances. Just explain yourself, and understand that they are likely to be wary around you until you can prove that you aren't some lame cheat or item whore. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_wink.gif

You are what they call a twink in EQ. There supposively wrong to use....but everyone even the one who complain about twinks eventually make there own.
My advice would be to explain it and if they don't like it then there loss when they tick you off halfway through the ruins and you don't throw in your firepower to save there butts.

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with giving your lower level char other items... I mean, it's kind of like going online, and giving a complete level 1 newbie a weapon they won't find until they hit the ruins. BUT! If you give your char a higher level item than what they should be able to use right then and there (ie have a lvl 200 mag, and able to use a claymore or something to that effect), then I'd keep it offline, and use something more normal. I mean, my other character, Plague, has a lvl 70 or so mag (my husband really wanted my red mag, so we traded http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif, and a Storm Edge, but I refuse to use it online until I reach a level where it won't be so obvious, cuz' it just isn't fair to other characters my level still using mundane daggers.

I support twinking since the main arguement against it is from lower lvs who are jealous imho.
