I've found that most people online have really crappy, uncreative names. Most of them tend to be anime names...what are some of the names you've seen the most of(Such as 'Yugi')?

I've only seen two other people with my name, Satoshi! I saw a HUmar and a FOmar. Currently I have two chars with that name, my FOnewm and my FOmar (NOT the same FOmar as above, infact I even have his guild card =P That looks weird to people when they're over "Hey!? How'd you get your own guild card?"). I've seen way too many character names based off of anime shows though... And games too... Some people are just so uncreative.

I'm the most uncreative person either. Three of my characters are named after me(Ian-Kun X, Ian-chan X and Shawna-chanX, Ian being what I would have been named if I'd been born male). One is named after an area from a video game(Granted, it's somewhat obscure, not very many people seem to like the Myst series). One is named after a character I write in a fanfic/rpg type thing who's named after a video game character, and he's an alternate version of another character in it who's also named after a video game character(Loosely based on my boyfriend, who I doubt was happy to have a FOmar with waist-length hair named after a fictional version of him. >P). Another is not only uncreatively named, she's uncreatively -designed-, since she's a clone of Ep1 Elly. One's named after a greek god(And by sheer coincidence looks exactly like Calus, damn you ST, although you have good taste). And the last one is named after my oh-so-creatively named Rati, Fluffy. I'm even worse than all the people running around with Squalls and Tifas and stuff like that. ._. Hate me. X_X

I don't concide myself to be particularly creative ( my Fomar is named Akira for gods sake and I have heard people complain about people who use anime names ) however all the same I don't concider myself to be un-imaginintave either. Sadly I have had to shelve alot of my more creative names since they don't give me the section ID that I want and I am not keen on putting spaces behind names or using stuff like numbers after names to get the section ID I want. Yeah, I understand people use names because of section IDs, but that's what section ID calculators are for. You can always find a good name that fits under the section ID you want. Of course, some people aren't into much creativity, and that's fine. It depends on who you are, I guess.

All but one of my characters is named after someone from the M:TG story line. I chose M:TG since although the game is expensive to keep up on the books are very well written and a lot of the characters interest me. So far I haven't seen anyone else with these names. If I was going to expect anything it would be a FOmar (or Newm if the person was going for the MST power aspect of the character) named Urza.

Hmm I prefer coming up with original names to all my works and characters and whatnot... but like a month or two after they appear in some game or anime that will be popular, and it just ends up seeming that I stole them, blah...like Lucia, thats a real name, for sure, but then DMC2 came out and poof, a Lucia. I had Ensa Marche for a long time now, but it seems the name "Marche" will be making an appearance in FFT Advance as the main character, go figure.

But I still have some original, if not stomach wrenching, names up my sleeve! Like...

Riftide, Colrad (for you AP/NAP people), Sigolfitz, Geromese, etc. etc. The list goes on.
I'd have to say the best I've managed to come up with as far as original names go is Bastalion. Had a nice look and feel to it, imo.
Anyways, they can probably be referenced to somewhere else or will appear somewhere in the future. The same for whatever names almost everyone can come up with, there are only so many combinations of letters of anything, whether it be PSO, or IRL (in real life). But, yeah, if you have something that works for you, go for it. In the end, its your character, not someone elses, so name it whatever you want and be happy with it.

Most of my characters names are creative, only one isn't, which is my HUcaseal Shadow, i only use her when im bored, but i have others with ones i make up or i look up japanese words and sue them for anems, like my FOnewearl Kurayami, gives me Pinkal, and Kurayami means Darkness, and FOnewearls have penatrating Megid which is darkness based tech, so it really is a planeed out character >:D

Why does everyone seem to have some crappy Japanese name. Come on people there are so much cooler names out there. Try a good Jewish or Russian name. I don't blame people for not making English names, as they always sound so corny and common (who wants to play with a HUmar known as James though it would be a little humorous for James to play against Iona-Ka-Miki-Chan). Even good French or German names would be interesting, but everyone is going for these silly Japanese names that only they know the rough translation for and many times are rather revolting.

My boyfried and I try for somewhat original names that I womeday want to name my kids (Cerridwyn and Leilani for girls, Sydney for a boy). Any other names, we still try for something different (Lau, Valice, things like that)

And don't name your boy Albert. If you name someone Albert, you thus map out their entire life for them, as a butler.

I usually try to give my chars unique names. I have a FOmar named JABARI, with is egyptian, for "brave one." And i have a HUmar named SHAOLIN, my nickname in real life. I had a HUmar named GENJURUKI way back on DC, ut i dont know of anyone else with that name

Barak is a character from "The Belgariad" and "The Mallorean", and is thus not original to you. You're right about it being uncommon though.


Barak is also the name of one of the bots in Unreal Tournament, though where Epic got it from I'm not sure. Never thought of lifting names from The Belgariad/etc. myself though. Personally, I suck at making up names, so I just don't bother. All of the names and 'net handles I use were lifted from somewhere. Including Da Wrecka. (not telling where though, nyeh) My female characters in both v2 and Ep1&2 are named after anime characters, although my males are generally taken from other sources. (I've not seen too many people with characters named Mr Driller or Mr Crow - cookie if you can guess the latter reference)

It bothers me more in concept than in reality... Mostly just the idea of someone trying to bring an established, unrelated character, known by most, and stick it into a different world altogether... Bleh... I'm sure that Senor Naka is not impressed with this practice.

SonicTeam should implent a name policy for Ep.III or better,implement it now in the curent versions (GC&Xbox)

You know simlar to Everquest's name policy: You can't name characters after dictaors,like the ruler of the Nazi Party of WWII,religious names,popular culture (DBZ,Harry Potter). For one exmple go to everquest.com

Too bad everytime I go there my IE gets a error messgae that says "IE has encounterd a problem and will need to close" after 5 minutes of entering it. One question, how can I prevent my computer from doing that?

Two of mine are based off of RPG characters I've created for pencil n paper RPgs, and for Video Games I plan on creating when I'm finished with my Game Art Degree.
Diem Nights(tone): Based off a Treasure Hunter I ran in a D&D campaign, also a main character I'm planning for my own RPG series.
Ikkaron: A Fallen Angel Wizard I run in a friend's homemade RPG. The FOmar is based off him prior to falling, with the white and purple and golden robes, and the angel wing mag.
RX-78-2: Ok, this is the only one who's not based off an orginal idea... still, it works for a RAcast. RX-78-2 is from the anime Mobile Suit Gundam, and was the original Gundam's serial number.

Yeah... I used the Red, white, and blue gundam color scheme for him, so I figured I might as well give him an appropriate name. I had wanted to name him after one of the even lesser (at the time) known gundam's, RX-78 GP02A, but that got me a crappy section ID. So I went with the original.

I created "Sedyne" from two things:

Dyne = 1. Mathmatical/Scientific equation that relates amount of pressure per sq inch applied for an amount of given force.
2. The name of Barret's frined in FF7....

and since my friend has allready used that name which I really liked, I added SE to the begining of it. Because those are my first two initials, and I thought it sounded good so i started to use it. yayay

and Rane was the name of a band i liked...so i just use that for female characters.

I find names creative >_M< but the other day i made a character named GInko Baloba cuz i was bored. And Realised i was better than the real ginko boloba muhhahahahahahahahaahahahahahhahaha

Kadou, yea I think thats right, ill check some time, when im not lazy...........
I decided to be more original with my last two characters well one of them anyway Galken was totaly made up out of other names I made (so I could get WHITILL), but Torren, well, I kinda stole it from the main character of the movie 'Bring it on' (hey I was bored and that was what was on TV) then it was too big to fit it in with Silk, the name was originaly Torrence.
Of course I kept the Silk, hey its now a way to ID my memory card (which is now labled 'Silk')

heh oh well we all have our limits of creativity just the 'Goku's' and the 'Vegita's' are a little smaller than others, tollerance is all you need (but yea it is pretty annoying)
