After being married for awhile, i learned something. They smell fear and weakness, give in and they will tear you up! dont look them directly in the eye they can see everything. That and treat them equal dont spoil em, will get you more in the future then treating them like your child<"will get you more in the future" isnt what some of you maythink it is!>

Hell back in the Dc days when you met real female gamers i could have sworn there was a good few of them. Dont know about now but i dont treat females special, i treat em the same on how they act. If some female asks me a in a "cute" kinda way for something thinking i am gonna be "I am man! buff and heroic! Here little girl!" naw.... not gonna ^_^. Course if they ask me if they could have it like anyone else and i didnt need it i hand it over.

some parents have no problem with cuss words once their children are a little older, but would have a problem with talks of cybering and such. don't ask me why i'm not a parent.

great now I'm not sure I want to try and get online. I play a FOnewearl, but I'm a guy. I already have had enough people that have mistaken me for a girl and have flirted with me in public. I don't need it online.

In my experience, ive only run into a few girls on PSO. Everyone else in the game was giving them special treatment. It was actually kinda sad. I personally treat them like any other gamer. And since i play X-box, its a little hard to be mistaken for a guy or girl, no matter your character.

Thats the beauty of pso right?....being able to be someone else. I know from experience that there are lots of guys that claim to be girls, and the funny thing is so many suckers fall for it.

Basically when I finally met up with him again, I found he had a loyal band of dorks following him about who all thought he was a girl. I challenged him and them about this, and ever since this confrontation he blocked my guild card.

This sort of thing happens on forums alot, people making out they are girls, mainly for attention. Im not saying there aint girls ou there, as I used to play with a few on PSO. What am am saying is that there are a whole load of funny people out there that claim they are girls as well.

This is just my opinion but I believe the reason why most guys'll suck up to females because they believe they'll be getting something out of it emotionally (you know what I mean). How do I know? I used to think that way until I matured a little and started being stingy with my rares. =P

On occasion, playing PSO has made me wish I wasn't female. I hate the special treatment, getting flirted with, being asked for handouts (what, do these people think I'm more sympathetic than guys are because I'm female?)...Hell, I play better than most of the guys I've played with, so they don't even bother to think I might be a girl.

But some of the stuff I see being said in the lobby...sheesh. It's not even worth mentioning.

AGREED! I get asked a lot if I'm a guy or girl, and I just let them think what they want. I'm just here to play the game. There are a few people who I meet online and we end up chatting off topic from PSO but other than that, we're mostly all focused on the game. I don't like the special treatment, and worst of all the flirting. Its like "dude, are you that deprived in your life right now that you're flirting with someone in an online game that could possibly not be who they claim they are?"

I agree, it is sickening. Watching some guy practically drooling all over himself, talking to someone who may or may not be who he thinks it is. I'll agree that female gamers are quite rare, but that's nothing to get all excited about and try to hit on them, it's a game for goodness sake. Personally, I couldn't care less if the person behind the character is a boy or a girl. The only way I could care less if I ignored them completely. Ahhh...the wonders of being apathetic, this is true equallity!

Heh. I've had this problem for oh, about six years, ever since I entered the Wild West that is the World Wide Web.

I started out on the PSDB, where my persona was female, as am I (same name). I was accepted for what they percieved me to be, no problems, no "special treatment" there.

After a disastrous falling out that split that community in two (viva CC!), I looked for a while for a place to go. I found it in GameSages (RIP). I started out as a male persona (Lord Siren) simply because of the lack of female gamers on the forum. Later I "came out" as being female in a thread bashing female gamers, and things snowballed from there.

I was either worshipped or reviled, never really a happy medium there. There were those who believed that my vast gaming knowledge came from a male friend, or regurgitating what I had read in magazines, etc., etc.

After the demise of GameSages, I wandered from forum to forum for a while, sometimes with a male persona, sometimes with a female persona, noticing that we (female gamers) are treated much the same as I was at GameSages, either bowed down to, or mowed down at will.

This will probably never change, as long as the gaming community at large is still over 90% male (thie gender shift probably occurring in the early '90s, with the rise of one-on-one fighting games). Hopefully, games like Dance Dance Revolution and Final Fantasy, popular as they are, and with a rising percentage of females playing, will serve as "gateway games", easing them into other gaming experiences (like PSO, natch!)

I've played PSO since it first debuted on the DC. All of my characters were male, and I didn't make a point of having fifty cute girly chat symbols or flaunting the fact that I was female, so no one noticed.

Most people seemed to think I was a nice person/player, and I'd say 95% of the people on my 16 pages of guild cards had no clue as to my gender. The only time people would find out is if they asked me my real name, at which point I would tell them, and they would be shocked or amused (or both).

I never asked for handouts, nor did I want them. I could play the game as well or better than most guys, so I didn't need some worthless "protector" following me around.

Females DO play video games of all sorts, not just DDR or Kingdom Hearts. I know I've been an addict since the NES/master system/atari days. Right now my cube is sharing time between PSO and VIEWTIFUL JOE!

YESSSS!! We aren't only into the cutsey stuff! Thank you for mentioning that! Sure I'm into DDR and FF and all the stereotypical "female" favorite VGs, but I still miss those classic NES games too... man Ninja Turtles rocked!! *ahem* yes I'm okay. : ) And you like Viewtiful Joe too?! Man, when I demoed that game at EB, I nearly fell over, it is so kick ass! I put a deposit on it after trying it for 5 minutes. Record time : )

There are plenty of female gamers on PSO. I happen to be good friends with about 10 other females on this game. Man...i lost so many female friends cause of pso stalkers/"lovers". my last friend wanted to leave cause of some "guy" named general rock belittleing her cause of her gender and her love of ballet. there are plenty of female gamers and it makes me mad when im called gay for using a female char (whiped a hucast with my hucaseal and racaseal that time). FF is a great rpg and i think PS is ok too and its an RPG (Role Play Game) if you wanna know if someone is male or female fine, but dont bash or change on them cause your not getting any wordseks or they arent the gender that you think they are/were. i forgot the subject/topic so im gonna stop here. i think.

How devilish? I had a char on Dreamcast that was notorious for being bad, TinkerHeLL (she's sitting pretty on my GCN, as I play my Xbox). Yes, I do roleplay my chars. I guess since most gamers are male, it's almost like a "wow" factor. It's the kinda like the same attention if a girl was playing on a male sports team (or vice versa). The same can be said if you saw someone with a super rare weapon that ya'll never seen, and it was legit (assuming the game just came out, and there hasn't been hacked/duped items yet, ala PSO, D2); you would be very interested in knowing more about the weapon.

Think of it this way, if a guy saw a cute girl outside, at the very least he would look at her. I know in videogames, we don't normally see the other person's face, but as a girl, the guy is intrigued never the less. I would also say the situation is also heightened, knowing a female is playing videogamers, sharing our (guys) interests. I know alot of girls out there that like to play games, but not too many that play it almost religiously (or at least not too many admit it or you see). Female gamers are rare to most guys.

I had the dc ,pc,gc,and xbox,i currently most of time play gc version of the game for reason im not discussing because its out of topic,anyway back to the topic . Hmm, I agree with that. I think this one guy I used to talk to online (he tried to ask me out on a PSO date and I told him hell no *LOL*) was dating a girl on PSO. He ignored me and never played with me during this time and one day out of the blue asked me to hang out with him. I asked him bout his girl and he got pretty ticked off saying he didn't want to talk about "her" *LOL* Guess he was a victim the role playing thing : ) He was a jerk anyway.

MY wife had some problems in everquest on her female character. Of course there are quite a few female gamers on there, and it does get bad manytimes. To the point we had to introduce a sexual harassment thing due to it all long time ago. my wife was around lvl 30.. <that take.. a long long time.> There be a ass every once in awhile, she tell me about it.. i logg onto my lvl 60 magician account.. tell a couple rangers and druids in my guild to tract the sob, hunt em down, threaten them with giving them a lifetime subcribtion to mob training, ksing, and a few other things. I give my wife her ability to fight her own battles on the online games we play, but i get into it if it gets out of hand. which is sad since it usually gets to that.

Whats really sad, is when you meet a female gamer, and you hang with them, become their friend, and they usually think you want something. Not their fault i dont think, frm the attitude they get from so many men. Not all are like that but you can usually tell the ones who been treated like crap.

next time ur playing pso at 9pm walk down to ur local public house (ale consuming room) if its a friday sat or student night even better look at what the women wear / dont wear and watch the attention they get! they love it guys buy drinks they jump ques to the bar etc and now all the women are complaining about the attention they get

i work in a pub myself and the amount of times guys snigger and swear at me coz i serve a woman before them supposdly because "shes got big boobs etc" i have a wicked gf thanks just coz she got to the bar before them dosent mean anything of course and if i give a smile thewn im flirting of course not the fact that its in my job description (im actually told to smile 24/7 at work)

I also treat my girly like an angel and i know she dont complain i give her so much attention and she loves it and gives it back

For the most part I play the game the same regardless of who or what you may or may not be on the other side. To me it doesn't really matter enough to influence how I really play. I only reason I ever pay attention to someone's class is so I have a general idea what the character is capable of. And males playing female characters or vise versa isn't strange at all, due to the fact that they all combinations have different capabilities. Anyways ... I think the whole female favoring thing is all fine and dandy until an asshole comes along and starts throwing insults at them. As for girls getting treated better? Guys like myself have a lot of respect for female gamers, but I guess some of us have dilusions of forming relationships with the girl gamers.

Oi afroman, what your saying is pretty true. Though their is some exceptions. I myself have pretty pale skin and wear glasses, but on many occations people have complimented my on being a gentleman and my sense of honor. Yes, I'm a soul that should have been born hundreds of years ago, when chivalry and digntiy were commonplace among men. Truly the number of the "gentelmen" are extremely low. I don't know what it is about men and wanting to be all protective. I can tell you, I've been through several boyfriends who just aggravated the hell out of me because they figured that they were the only male being I could talk to. Silly men.
I seem to run into a lot of people who get all freaked out that I play male characters a lot. Actually, it surprised me when people thought I was a guy just because I played one and once they figure out I'm a girl everything changes. It's the hormones I guess.
I honestly don't know what guys are thinking half the time. I mean, I could be having a normal conversation with a guy I just met online somewhere for awhile and once he figures out that I'm a girl everything just changes. It's like it's suddenly so hard to think of anything to say to me.
Not to say that all guys are poor confused creatures. To tell you the truth I only have one really close girl friend. The rest are guys. I seem to get along with them easier as long as they don't look at me just as being a woman. And all you guys on this thread that said that you treat women equally...I personally would like to be your friend. Hehe.

I am actually a very weary chick. I don't like the special treatment or attention given to me as a female gamer. If I wanted that sort of attention, I could go to a bar or a club. I prefer just to receive the same treatment as the guys do. All the attention, more often than not, makes me rather uncomfortable. There's only a few guys I've met online who I'm not uneasy about talking to, but for the most part, once my gender gets founded, I tend to avoid those guys from then on because of the unusual treatment.

my only char is a girl. I tend to ignore the strange
guys that firlt with me. I never answer if I am a guy or a girl and tend to keep in touch with people that never bother to treat me different. But this is a role playing game and sometimes I play the role of a girl, after I try to give my character a personality that fits her. But in the end bieng a good force and supporting people well, keep up with S/d and J/z resta and anti and the like has gotten me much more attention. Are there really that few good support forces out there that I can not get on with out getting mail in 10 minutes?

On the DC version i had a freind that used to play PSO and she had a HUnewearl and called it. LOOK UP MY SKIRT. It was kinda funny cause every1 thought she was a guy(no voice chat) cause obviously only a guy would pick that name. haha it was funny too cause when she convinced them that she was a girl they gave her all of this good crap.

I think that a lot of female gamers are nothing more than attention whores. The creator of this thread is an example. I don't give a shit what games you play or if you play other games besides Final Fantasy..big whoop, just play the game and shut up about your sex. This does not go for all female gamers, but it seems to be the case.

But on the other hand, guys have a habbit of treating girls like shit online.

"Hey are you a girl?"
"R U SINGLE?"
"HERE R SUM FREE ITMZ"

It's sickening and I usually leave the game after awhile. Pso online does strike up good friendships for a lot of people,if its only the game you wanted to play its got an offline option...Soon as you come online your open to all the emotions mankind has to offer...

lets be honest how many would still be playing PSO if it were offline only?

or if it were online and no one talked (remembers keyboard saga), lots of good decent people online and an equal amount who behave a bit over the top, to get attention I guess....but its the friends I play with that keeps me going online now and again and I'm afraid a lot of folks in this world are hung up on sexuality. Typically, I don't care to check the forums, but my Fiance took an interest in PSO back when I had a dreamcast (Now if memory serves, she IS the one who told me to get the copy of PSO v2 I found). Initially I was concerned about how males would interact with her characters, they are all short, cute and quite deadly, and I feared throngs of obssesed male players coming at her from all angles like Boomas on a lvl 1 FOmar, not a nice picture.
(I have yet to prove it, but I believe 90% of FOmars seem to lose their anal virginity to Boomas)

One the other hand, I've been online many times, and femal character (not female players, just characters) seemed to be quite.. accomidating, to my at-the-time level 25ish RAmar.

I tend to stick to myself, and I also prefer the one-man slaughter fest that is the online hard mode Ruins.

It would seem that females I've dealt with are either guys, or strong minded individules who saw an oppertunity to rack up some good karma. I don't care who joins my game, if you use resta on me when I need it most, you can expect the same, if you've reversered me a coupla times in one sitting, I'll try my best to express my gratitude some how. (usually a fire scepter AGNI or other FOrcer weaps)

I am quite indiffrent to sex, because online it is about as much an issue as wheather you are wearing underwear or not. Play well, help me out, I'll do what I can to recipricate, otherwise, get in my way, steal my stuff and when I negelct to take out the rappy whos chewing on your ankle, don't be suprised if I drop a Moon Atomizer next to your lifeless form and walk away.. and then come back to pick it up and feed it to my mag. (Pushan LOVES Moon Atomizers)

Female gamers on PSO apparently is quite rare (I did not know this, even though almost everyone I have ran into has been a guy.. hmmm.. yes I'm dense *L*) and for the most part, get quite the star treatment apparently. Any other chicks out there playing PSO? If yes, then do you find you get treated differently because of that?

Every now and then yes a guy will give me speshal treatment because im a chick ...
