I know the basics about the storyline of PSO (Wanting to inhabit Ragol, looking for a home, things get out of hand, infested with monsters, etc). But I just can't help it. I gotta know what happens, and the whole mystery revealed. Could anyone who has beaten both Eps, explain to me the storyline, and what about the ancient Ragol civilization? So to anyone who has the knowledge, tell me everything! What exactly is the meaning for everything? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Even though I can't stand the author, here's a link to a theory that I buy into that might clear a few things up a little... and stir the pot amongst those here.
Ragol is NOT Earth... (http://camineet.net/theories/ragolnotearth.shtml)

I think the story is too big to be told here, but I'll state some topics on Episode I.
*spoiler alert*
- On Pioneer 1, the government discovers some unusual photon readings from beneath the ground on the Central Dome. It is possible that they knew from the start, when planning to emigrate to Ragol.
- They immediatly start a secret mining project. They discover some ancient ruins, which later see that it's an alien spaceship. Inside the alien spaceship is a strange and misterious creature.
- According to the studies, the spaceship (Ruins) was sent to Ragol from another planet. Possibly because the beings from that planet encountered the misterious creature, Dark Falz. They couldn't defeat it, but sealed it off on the spaceship and sent it away from their planet. It arrived on Ragol, and stood there for years.
- The miners find Dark Falz, which has awakened in this millenium, but closed inside the spaceship. When they opened the door to study Dark Falz, he was released from the depths of the spaceship.
- Dark Falz infected several animals on Ragol, which infected other animals with its virus and so on, triggering a chain infection with all the creatures on Ragol. The creatures infected with the virus (D-type factor virus) changed visually and became aggressive.
- One of the creatures was found out by Dr. Osto, one of Pioneer 1's scientists. It was called Beta772 (De Rol Le). It was infected with the D-Type factor virus, and kept growing in size and hostile behaviour.
- Dark Falz is an entity which possesses people, and fuses their body with his main form. The big monster you see in the end of the game is the combination of several humans, animals and mutants, fused with the D-type factor virus.
These are some of the topics I think I got right. If someone sees a mistake please state it, I don't think I'm 100% correct on what I posted.
Besides, some fanfictions in this site cover the plot in Ragol very well, such as "The Angelus Saga", or my own.
I suggest you ask for some fanfictions which cover the plot in Ragol in detail. There is much plot to read, enjoy!

CAUTION! TOTAL SPOILERS OF THE ENTIRE PLOTLINE!

I think after Phantasy Star 2, Palma (The nice, cool looking tropical planet) blows up, and the people settle into 3 ships. One goes to the Desert Planet on which PS2 is set, another goes to the Ice Planet, and the third goes to another world named Coral.
However, the Algo system (Palma, desert world and ice world) were the seal for Dark Falz, and a bunch spawned in PS4. The Palma-coral people, who know nothing about Falz, destroy their own world accidently, probably the same way Palma was destroyed, by relying too much on technoligy.
So Pioneer 1 is sent out, unknowingly, to the place of another Falz seal (probably NOT the same one as in PS4 and defininatly not earth) The Central Dome gets built, and the military starts a secret mining project beneath the surface of Ragol after (most likely) noticing the photonic seal of the ruins.
Red Ring Rico, who set out (obviously) after the Military(because she says these weapons arent hunter guild regulation) and finds the ruins after a huge battle between Falz and the Military. She then becomes absorbed by Falz and her body is mutated.
Flowen gets injured fighting Falz and begins to mutate as well. He wants to warn Coral to not send P2. But instead, he mutates into Olga Flow, and a AI is inserted into his brain to control him. He goes abit insane ( I think) and is dumped into a Garbage chute.
Pioneer 2 arrives, and Falz, now at full strength, destroyed all the people in the central dome.
Then the REAL story begins.

Oh, one more thing. Who is that knight-looking guy, at the bottom of the ocean, in the Ep2 movie?

I think Dark Falz was never released for study; I think he is "released" when you activate all the monoliths.
Also, a scientist in the game says it was De Le Rol that infected all of the forest creatures--caused by the sap or whatever in his spikes (the objects he shoots).
How did De Le Rol do this from a sewer?
Now that, is a damn good question! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

...umm...maybe
-PH34R the spoilers-
What I gathered from my ventures was that Dark Falz is the ultimate evil entity and seeks the perfect body, it isn't a being, maybe something like a wandering conciousness. I don't aggree with it assimilating many different lifeforms. I believe it controls it's minions through mind controll, or something along those lines. However it only controlls "Dark" creatures. The "Dark" creatures are inorganic, it seems to me, and don't seem like they mutated from a local creature; especially the Delsabres.
Then there are the vicious robots in the mines. Possibly since there was all this millitary secrecy rampant on ragol with Pioneer 1 it was the people themselves that set the robots to attack intruders. I think this was a measure taken to protect the secret discovery and excavation of the ruins. Notice that Vol Opt, the big bad robot of them all, seems to be the last ditch effort of the mines to protect the door leading to the ruins.
What was said about De Rol Le infecting monsters and mutating them is sort of clearly stated in Rico's messages, she says that she witnessed De Rol Le inject a creature mutating it. Also some stuff that Mome says on "Unsealed Door" quest. I wouldn't say a virus though. Possibly just some enzyme that De Rol Le produces.
By the way, I have no clue why Rico seems to fly out of Falz's final form after beating him. Maybe she was the perfect host or something. Doesn't explain Falz's appearance though.
On to Flowen! He's the guy you see in the water that looks like a knight.
What I understand to be is that Flowen had volunteered to be the guinea pig for the military and they tried to create a weapon/ultimate lifeform/genetic experiment type thingy. I don't think Falz had too much influence on these events. After this failure they did dump him off in that big hole that you fight it in. I'm not so sure on this one as I've only played through Episode 2 once in single player mode on Very Hard. It could be different in Ultimate, but until I can refrain from dying five times in every room I enter in the Seabed, I won't be completing it any time soon.
The trick is, check all the little orange messages and little message thingys in Episode 2. Also, talk to people on the ship. Mainly the people commanding you in Episode 2. Elly and the other two people change what they say to you after every level and it can provide some insight to what the heck's going on.

and what about red ring rico, didn't dark falz need a soul to take form, and when we kill dark falz on hard or very hard/ultimate it loses red ring ricos ring and you se red ring rico get released, and the boss on episode 2 flowen get released end you will se his sword wanish.
So the bosses don't have pysical form and needs a soul to take an physical form

Here is another question my good men. What is the story behind the Bernie and Sue subplots? I remember in the Gran Squall, Bernie kept on telling you stories of how he hated the government and the Gran Squall was meant as a military ship of sorts. BUt if you tell Sue your name then he will die in the Seek my Master quest and states, "I had no interest in Ragol, or the government." What could he mean by this? Also, why did fellow hunters go crazy on you in quests like Kireek, that force, Anna's sister? And what is this "IT" that Flowen refers to in a billion of his messages?

Olga Flow. It's Heathcliff Flowen infected with the D-type Factor virus, which mutated him into that being.

What I want to know is how the hell your character manages to avoid becoming infected with all this crap, too. I mean, I would certainly hope that Rico and Flowen would be a bit better trained and stuff than John Q. HUmar. Probably whatever makes you so damn special that the government sends you, by yourself, to go find out what happened on Ragol and clean up Pioneer 1's messes. >P

Maybe Rico and Flowen got infected by the virus when they were too injured to fight back, near death.
I think that, when they lose the battle, they get infected by the virus.
That's one of the reasons the game doesn't end forever when you die: Could you play knowing that if you died, you would turn into a monster like they did?
*Thinks*
Hey, not bad!

Rico likely was infected when she was too weak to fight. Flowen, however, was injected with the "virus" by the genetic researchers at the Olga Base (i.e. the Seabed), having volunteered his body for a scientific project of which he knew nothing about. He mutated into Olga Flow, then went somewhat insane and was dumped in the garbage chute.
As for D-Cellular creatures, they are beings that are and always were made up of the genetic "virus".
The reason your character avoids being infected is because, though he/she comes in contact with the "virus", he/she never has any of its parasitic cells injected into him/herself.
If anyone can PM me on the story of the previous Phantasy Star games, I'd really appreciate it. There are several things in OnnaWren's theory didn't make sense to me seeing as I have no idea what most of the things mentioned in it are (Alisa III, The Profound Darkness, etc.)

To Kadou:
First and foremost: IT'S NOT MY THEORY. That somewhat dubious honor would go to the author, one Mike Ripplinger (Ack! I said his name! Ptui!), and his site, Camineet.net (http://www.camineet.net).
Secondly: Even though I harbor a deep-seated grudge against them, THIS SITE (http://phantasy-star.net) should get you started in previous Algolian history.

That picture explains Black Paper.
And the reason all the Hunters go insane is because Falz seems to be spreading his influence among the people who go to Ragol.
PS: KIREEK goes insane. And Camineet.net rules.

Yes, I believe it is said from a Technician after you beat Olga. He is describing how most Labs have connections to the military or illegal operations such as orginized crime. This describes GranSquall and Black Paper, who gaurd the Lab, I think,
