Rares

Everyday I log on to PSO and the first words I hear from people are "Does anyone have (insert any rare item name)." A couple of days I was like them, until something happened to me. My silence claw got stolen by a guy (won't mention name). Of course I was pissed as hell and spammed his mail. However, guess what? I began to think about rares and thieves and I finally reached a conclusion. Most of us have a bunch of rares, I mean, a whole collection of rare weapons. However, let me ask you this, do you even use all the stuff you have, or is it collecting dust in your bank. I know some people just like collecting rares, but look at it this way:

PSO was not made so you would be able to collect rares and let them dust off in your bank. PSO was made for you to enjoy the game and play it with your friends and have fun. The rares were put into it so you could have different weapons that you could use so you will not get bored of the same weapons look. I have a couple of rares in my bank and I have come to realize tha:

1. Don't like using the rares because I hate look or little damage it takes.

2. I am afraid of encountering thieves so I put them in the bank.

The rares I have collected are just that, rares that I don't use, scared of losing them. Heck, I don't even have fun with the rares because of thieves. Now, I have decided to use my favorite rare weapon (Orotiagito) everyday and maybe get my other rares and lend or give them out to someone who likes to use that weapon. I am not going to trade anymore because, the Orotiagito is my favorite weapon.

I collect "rares" myself, but only types specific to my class.. laser and arms on my racast, for sure. I got a couple Arms that are super-worthless. Burning Arms and Tempest Arms.. but.. fully grinded them and threw them in the bank just for keepsake.. *shrug*

I don't play many public games anymore due to how people can actually flat-out kill you now. And if I did I'd certainly use one of my more easily acquirable weapons until I fully trusted everyone there..

I don't know why anyone would bother to collect rares anymore and not use them. None of them are rare anymore, since about 10,000 people already have them. So if your not going use them, why bother?

You could always set up a better/cheaper 'Rare Weapons' shop! hehe

i dont bother with rares anymore, it seems that no matter what you have or how many times it's been duped, it gets stolen.

i just stick with my good ol' dragonslayer (legit), it works well and if it gets stolen i have 2 more in the bank (both legit), and if i need more i'll just go fight that dragon a couple of times.

and i only use that cause its better than your run of the mill swords, or else i'd use one of those.

so now i dont collect and i dont trade, i just play

I agree with you guys to an extent, but only to an extent. Rares are exactly what they're called, RARE. I should know and you should not forget how long it took you guys to find those favorite weapons and what-nots. I know it must've taken a while to find that Orotaigito, right? I'm sticking with my favorite weapon and my favorite class wepaon because it's the only rare I've searched for, everything else I sell or give to my friends, and they are a Silence Claw + 8, Suppressed gun + 14. Because of all the rares I've sold or traded for Tech Disks, I have around 600,000 in the bank and about half that much with me at all times, plus all of the techs at level 10-7. (with the exception of reverser and ryuker that have no level) People complain about dupers and thieves, theives can be avoided if you can but I know that they can trick even the best of players, and dupes were pathced out last I checked.
