Technically dupes are almost the same as legit items. you can't really say they aren't. dupes are an exact copy of a legit item, and as long as the duped item wasn't hacked, then dupes are technically legit. if you make an exact copy of a legit item then the dupe is legit too, cause it's recognized as the exact same thing as what you duped it from. my point I'm trying to make here is that dupes aren't in that sense then, as wrong as people make out since they are exact copies of legit items. just thought i'd point that out....

Well said. As I mentioned in another post we need a sticky about the Facts and Myths of duped items. Then hopefully, when John Q. Noob registers at these forums he can read through it and not post stupid rumors about duped items.

Good point, but its cheating to have a copy of a legit item. Like you could dupe a TJ and keep trading it for other stuff. Plus its not fun to right away get all the really rare items. I still think the game would be better without dupes.

that may be true but the reason i play legit (well one of my characters) is because im using items that i found myself and it feels sort of cool to know that you found this rare item that is pretty hard to find (if there werent any dupes) but thats my opinion ( im not trying to say dupers suck)

I started playing pso about 2 months after it came out. Being connected to a Clan since Starcraft, i knew how to dupe, I didnt have all the items right away. A lot of people think that dupers can just whip rare items out of thier ass. they cant.

I think the basic point has been completely overlooked. Dupe is short for duplicate. In other words, a copy. The copy may be identical to the real one, but it's still a copy. You could copy a CD, but it's still a copy and still against copyright laws. ST didn't create the game to have the items copied. It may not be a copyright law, but it goes against their original intent (not to mention their stand against duping, even if they can't stop it), so it comes down to the same thing. This is a dead topic by now. People should stop bringing this up. Legits will continue to bash dupers, and dupers will continue to bash legits, no matter how good of a point someone comes up with. I myself am a legit, although at one time I used to be a person that would trade quite often, knowing most of the items were duped. Now that I am playing legit, though, it makes the game MUCH more enjoyable when I find really rare things, like the Heavens Punisher I found or the Psycho Wand I received. These things make you come back to play more. And the situation earlier in this topic about dupes ruining a game, I don't think they meant dupers trading items to them, I think they were talking about when they're in a game and someone is using duped super-rares, becoming a super strong character taking down all the enemies before anyone else really gets a chance to do anything. That is the only real problem I have with duping. Ok, I've stated my opinion, I just had to get this out because I've read tons of threads and articles about duping and legits, yet I've never stated my opinion, so this is the only time I will ever do so.
