....naah, he'll just buy one somewhere else.
I'd be careful about that in the future. You may end up losing your job or something. I'm not sure how your boss feels about PSO cheaters, but I don't think he or she will take lost profits lightly.

This is too funny... Who the hell would sue because Sega wouldn't let them use their hacked items???? What possible damages do they think they'll get? I've seen the lawsuit theat on some of the hacker boards. Too funny.

i dont know what you thought youd get from posting that, alpha. but you wont get any kudos from me. in fact, your lucky i wasnt that guy or was in that store or youd of been following that guy you kicked out, with a pink slip in your hand and an earache from me and your boss.
id like to say that alpha was an exception to the kind of service youll get at a software ect. . id like to share a story with you all about my experince recently...
the salesclerk assured me as i placed my preorder for pso that my downpayment would guarantee me that when this game came out theyd have acopy for me. id heard that with the ps2 if you didnt pick it up asap that they sold your system regardless. he assured me that the policy was different for games.
about two weeks later my brother called me to ask me where to meet him so we could exchange guild cards. i was like, 'what?! they must not have it here in cali yet cause if they did id have it.' but to be sure i called the store where i was informed that the game had infact been out for several days, and they were sold out. i snapped. i told him id be down there in a few minutes, and that they better have some answers, then slammed the phone down before the clerk could reply. i sped over to the mall, stormed into the store and demanded to speak to the store manager. i told her what the problem was and she told me there was nothing she could do, and that that i should have came there the day it was released. um, arent you supposed to call me when it comes out? that is why i gave you my number on that card you handed me to fill out. i could see that this was going nowhere so i told her to shut up and get me the number of thier district manager. she gave me the number and i called the d.m. on my cell phone infront of them. after i told her what the problem she was just as mad as i was. she told me that if i had a preorder they had a game waiting for me. no matter what. as soon as i repeated what she said, the store manager actually took the time to look, and guess what. she found the 'last' one. i thanked the d.m. on the phone, whgo assured me shed be giving them a 'nice call as soon as we hang up.' i asked them why they told me they didnt have my copy and the clerk at the desk said 'uh, i thought we were sold out.' um, did it ever occur to you to actually get off your ass and look? they arent paying you to just sit there are they alpha? but then there was two more little incidents before i was able to leave with my game. at first the manager was trying to give me some crap how she couldnt honor my ten dollar preorder decause she 'couldnt find the card'. i wasnt gonna let that happen. i had my reciept, and thats all i needed. then she convienently dissapeared to the back to get a phone call, and the clerk at the desk rang up my sale. when he put the game in the bag i took it out and looked at it. it was opened. so i opened it up and what do you know, it was empty. the clerk apologized sheepishly and got the discs out from behind the counter. needless to say, i left rather mad, and with a low opinion of your stores.
you were a bigger moron that day then that man could have ever been. refusing to sell something because it went against your sense of ethics, and then throwing him out was totally unacceptable. you should have kept your mouth shut, done your job and rung up the sale, and sat back down on your thumb.
and you argues with him for 15 minutes? oh hell no. i work retail too, and let me tell you, that would never ever happen at my store. because we have a little thing there called professionalism. no matter how irate a customer gets, like i did even, your just supposed to grin and bear it. thats the privlege of the customer. i hope your boss knows how big a moron YOU are.

Lol! reluctant hero wants you to treat your job like you have your thumb on the button of a bomb and you better be dead serious about it. screw those customers man. i use to work in the toy department at wal mart. the endless barrage of idiots filing through the store gets annoying. i want good service too, but i wasn't above sticking it to the random idiot who deserved it. look, he's a register-jockey wage-slave reluctant_hero, not an ambulance driver. i appluad him for treating idiots with such candor. (besides, i doubt it went down exactly as he described it.) where do you work that you feel such professionalism? your going to be there the next twenty years of your life? come on, alpha isn't bucking for promotion. and if that customer really wanted a GS, he coulda got one same as you got your game; people aren't defenseless. Go watch "Clerks" and laugh.

hey i worked at walmart for a while there myself. but its obvious that our managers had a different philosophy when it comes to customer service. i can relate to having terrible cutomers. i worked on the ics team, stocking all the consumable departments. you just had toys? i had health and beauty aids, phamacy, foods, pets, and house hold chemicals to worry about. and i stocked from 11am to 8 pm, during peak shopping hours, did cart round ups and customer carry outs, the jobs stockman should be doing. in fact i always answered the pages for stockman customer carry outs because they were to lazy to help an old lasy load a tv into the trunk of her car in the rain. and,i too felt the desire to snap a few necks. but i always grinned and beared it. you only had toys and your complaining? lol, your a whiny little baby arent you? and the thing my manager told us everyday was that 'out there on the salesfloor customers are our top priority. after all, its not your department. its thier department. they pay your paychecks, not me.'-ics manager
customers are the lifeblood of any retail business. im sorry you dont feel the need to provide great customer service.
i work for sanrio suprises now. yeah, i sell hello kitty, bad badtz maru, spottie dottie, and chococat merchandise. its a childrens specialty shop, and there is no way my manager would ever accept me being rude to my customers, especially a child. its my job to go out of my way to help a customer find want they want be it a hello kitty lace pencil with neck strap, or a pompompurin coin purse. sometimes i have to spend up to half an hour taking a kid around the store showing them all the things that are in their price range. and i enjoy it. we have our fair share of bad customers too, with screaming babies, messy toddlers who think everything there was made to be broken, and adults as well.
oh, but you work walmart's toy department, at most 10 short aisles a ball display and a bike rack. and after christmas the holiday clearance aisle. whoopty doo. and its not like its just you out there, you have a full team helping you. when i worked ics we never had a full team. at most we had 3 people at a time doing th work that should be done with a team of 7. you got it easy pal. maybe what you need is thicker skin...

Wow ! Retail Wars ! I think this entire discussion is the epitome of 90% of the problems in the US today. Kids who care about nothing, aspiring to be even less & adults stuck in dead end mall jobs taking out their frustrations in life on people they KNOW cannot retaliate & keep their jobs- CUZ they hold the same damn position! ... then belittling them for not putting up with that crap-->that takes a real man my friend & such a delusional view of reality, it has seldom been my displeasure to witness it.
A) If you work in a retail capacity, you should know better than to rely on a 16 yr old to call you from a mall department store. Unless you owe THEM money, don?t expect to hear anything. I have NEVER gotten a call on any of those reserves- don't waste your time.
B) We're talkin about a damn video game, not the expected cure for cancer here. If it was that important, why DIDNT you go to the store on the release date ? The game was carried by everybody and their brother. I had NO problem finding several copies on the release date.
C) It is NEVER OK to beat up somebody over something that trivial- especially when viewed in the light that you are constantly in that arena yourself. It's twice as wrong when you KNOW that you have no idea if the poor schmuck u are yelling at had ANYthing to do with the course of events leading up to your 'deliberate & personal slighting'. There are probably 20 inept, underpaid, all-created-equal, long live America, people that work at that store. Do you like it when some self righteous asshole storms in to tear your head off when the 'Hello Kitty' stationary he ordered for the secretary he is ballin' behind his wife's back is not the right color ? Think before you open your mouth, as it may be your own foot you stuff into it. The only point you proved was that you believe this episode proved 'They can't screw with me!'. Reality being 9/10 of history, you basically proved what a moron you are to 20 or so NPC's.
d) Believe me, you don?t have the market cornered on stupidity or job aggravation. Whadda u want for doin your job other than the paycheck everybody else settles for ? A medal ? Try being a network engineer for 80 office dwellers who can barely turn a computer on. If I wanted a bleeding ulcer I could write the book on idiocy. What I DON'T do is waste my time trying to prove to others how great I am for explaining port filtering to some idiot whining about not being able to stream an MP3 through a Cisco firewall. It's ur job, get over it. It does not give you the write to beat on others, but rather makes you more responsible for acting like an adult than other people around you. If the guy you are yellin' at is so damn stupid, what makes you think ANY of what you are saying will have an impact ?
In fact, why I am wastin my time writing this ? Wait, I know...Cuz it made feel superior at the time. Having read this, do u feel I am superior? Think about that when you chewing up some 12 th grader tryin to make enuff money to make an insurance payment.

actually, before i started retail i nebver complained about service. it was after i started working in the customer service arena that i became more assertive with how i deal with other retail workers, and anyone else im handing my hard earned cash over to.
whenever my order got messed up at a fast food restaurant i used to just eat what i got anyway. i was spineless. now if i get fries instead of the onion rings i asked for im not afraid to throw the complete order in their face, literally, and watch over their shoulder as they re-prepare my meal.
the fact that it was a videogame wasnt the reason i flipped out at the store. what i was mad about was that i had paid to reserve something and when it arrived they didnt call me like they are supposed to. and when i did get down there they were to lazy to even look, and just sputtered 'we dont have it' when in fact they did. and that the only way i could even get them to simply look was by going balistic and going over all of their heads and contacting their district manager.
it is perfectly fine to 'beat up on' a clerk, no matter how young, for not doing his job. i had every right to start in on the clerk behind the desk because when i called him, he stated that they were out. again not looking, just saying whatever will get him back to doing nothing the fastest. the store manager go what she deverved for not calling, which she claimed she does personally, and for not making her sales associates do the jobs their paid to do. the money they need for thier 'insurance' as youve pointed out.
you are also unfamiliar with sanrio i see. we dont order special stationary for anyone. we sell what the head office sends us. your little scenario would never happen.
what i want is for salesclerks to show the same respect and courtesy id show them if they were in my store. if they dont do thier jobs right then ill call em out on it. i do it especially because im in this 'arena' and i know that when the sales associate is slacking the only way to get results is to raise hell. had i not, i wouldnt have gotten the game, would i? as you stated, reality is 9/10 of history. and so far reality says im right.
what do i want for doing my job other than my paycheck? as your statement suggests, i do my job. the focus of all my posts is not that i do my job, its that people arent doing theirs.
i dont feel your superior at all. in fact i feel your far far from it. you failed to address the topic i was talking about. it wasmt right for alpha to refuse service to a customer because he didnt like cheaters, and then argue with the customer about it for 15 minutes, then kick them out.
you could have also commented on the work ethic the other posters provided. id like to see them put the things they said on thier next job aplication. im sure wyatt would be hired on the spot for putting 'screw those customers...' down under 'do you work well with others, and customer relations'.
i belittle them for not being able to put up with it because thats what half of retail involves. and i vent on them because i know they were wrong. the contradiction or delusion here lies not with me, but in your perception of why i did what i did.

"im sure wyatt would be hired on the spot for putting 'screw those customers...' down under 'do you work well with others, and customer relations'."
Lol!! Oh that is funny. No, I don't guess I would put that. But you misunderstand me as well. Putting up with customers isn't hard. Look at old people. They can be the worst. I never got mad at them, and they were 95% of the customers at the donut shop I worked at in New Orleans. Way worse than anyone in Wal Mart. But I was so nice to them, because I liked them and I knew better than to blame them for not being to swift about what they wanted or how much to pay or anything like that. I even let them get away with calling me a freak for having big o'l sideburns, just laughing it off. That sound like thin skin? It's not about being mad at your job, or customer service even. It's just that there is a definate line, a line that many many people feel they can cross just because your on the other side of a counter. Like that's some kind of barrier for courtesy and common sense. Similar to the way people feel in cars, till someone gets out of their car and beats the hell out of a guy who never would've yelled the things he did at the stop light. (Not that i endorse beatings, mind you.) People just get way out of line sometimes, and I don't believe I should lay down and take it, encouraging some ass to do it to someone else later on; not a job that a monkey could do. Maybe for a real job that pays real bills, but not the toy department in Wal Mart. (P.S. It would be a rare man indeed that worked at Wal Mart and was'nt responsible for anything but his department. I also worked the outside garden department, hardware, health and beauty aids, mixed paint, cash registers, and 99 work like spills and parking lot shopping carts, etc... I think thats just the way it goes at that place.)
----------
Heyyyy, wait a minute....
i belittle them
Why are you trying to belittle people here at all reluctant? Thats lame, you should be here to converse with people, not to attack them. First of all, it didn't work. Secondly, be careful, becasue you leave yourself too open for such retaliation.

Reluctant...
U reap what you sow my friend. The mall is a small place, and there is a large world beyond its quai-safe confines. I would be careful about who I lashed out at- you do not strike me as the type of individual that sizes up the competion, let alone worries if that person is equiped to settle the argument- B4 he opens his mouth. I know more than one person who wishes they had kept thier mouth shut after someone rammed their fist down it- or pulled a deadly weapon.
I dont understand where u get this idea that everyone looks at what they do as the end all be all of their existence. With the exception of a relatively rare few, most people look at their jobs as a means to an end- nothing more. Im not saying I agree with that personally, or that you are wrong for believing it is, just pointing out that most people do not. They view it as something they HAVE to do just to get by- and as such they DO only as much is as necessary to get a paycheck. Going to a tailor to have a suit made, I would have a different level of service expectation than strolling in to Babbages lookin for the latest video game. YOU ARE IN A MALL for Christ sake !
I sympathize with you on all these issues, and for the most part feel the same way. But man, you gotta understand that is just not the way things are anymore- and yellin at some dork in a store isnt gonna change that. I deal with vendors all day long and CPU manufacturers on warranty issues constantly. The only time I fly off the handle at them is when they fall short of service I have PAID for- and we are talking thousands of dollars for these warranties, not about some ridiculous 'principal matter'. I am not doin it ta make some huge ethical point, Im doin it ta get my job done. I dont look 4 it, I dont enjoy it, and I certainly dont believe I am changin' tha world doin it. These people are not 'learning' anything from the experience. They turn right around and do it to somebody else. The problem is the economy is too good. When we go into recession, you will find people care a lot more about a job nobody could give away B4.
I am also very careful about how I do it, and who I do it to. I am armed 24 hrs a day. The world isnt Disney Land my friend. Be careful who you blow up at. Id rather play PSO with you than read about you in a newspaper article.

whoa whoa whoa. i stated in my earlier post that i used to take crap from sales associates, fast food workers, etc. . i didnt because i was nonconfrontational. you believe i dont 'size up the competition' or 'worries if that person is equiped to settle the arguement', and thats because your a poor judge of character. nothing would have made me happier that day then to have the clerk step outside that day. he wasnt some string bean acne faced 16 year old. he was in fact, slightly larger than me. its not them im afraid will settle the arguement, its me im afraid will. thats why i pledged never to own a gun, carry a pocket knife, or even one of those self defense key chains. when i was younger i pulled a knife on my own brother and tried to stab him. luckily he was able to dodge it. im a full fledged rage-aholic. the only reason i kept my mouth shut when i had a problem with someone was because im afraid of what i might do. thus the desire not to carry any kind of weapon. its a sharp contrast to who i am when im not angry. so dont ever believe that i wouldnt be willing to step outside with anyone i start in on.
your right, some people do look at thier jobs as just a paycheck. but when the entire staff of a store tells you they dont have something you have already laid down cash for, and then only because you raised hell actually looked for it and finds, it makes you wonder. was it too much for me to ask for the guy behind the desk to get off his ass and look? you hold a different expectation for a tailor than a videogame store? i dont. in my own store i treat people with the same level of respect if thier buying 300 dollars worth of stuff (happens all the time, all day.) or a 45 cent pack of ahiru no peckle chewing gum. when does hard earned cash fall into your category of 'principal matter'? how much money is ever just trivial when your making a purchase? you do what you do to get your job done, i did what i had to get what was mine.
you still havent given me your opinion on the way alpha handled the customer who tried to buy a gs. was he right to refuse service to someone because he didnt like cheaters, and then throw that person out?
wyatt, that wall of coutesy does exist between you and the customer. ask any manager what they would do if a customer had a complaint. better yet, see what happens to you if you bark back at a customer infront of your manager. and as far as road rage goes, im from the road rage state or new jersey. and in camden they will drag you out fo your car and beat you. but id hardly agree that people in thier cars with road rage and the world of retail are similar.
and i really dont like your comment about 'maybe a real job that pays real bills, but not the toy department in wal mart.' really makes me mad. you believe that because someone works at walmarts toy department they dont have bills to pay, and to them that is a real job to pay thier very real bills? then just what the hell do you think a real job is? you gotta save lives or pull down some serious grips of cash? naw, even a door greeter at walmart has a real job, that pays his real bills. its not the size of the job, its the size of the persons heart whos doing it.

Reluctant,
I agree with your rationale for being upset with the store clerks. And for the most part I agree with your assesment of how Alpha dealt with some guy comin' in to buy a perfectly legit product. I am not aware of any background check being required to purchase a game shark- though I can totally relate to wanting to smack a moron. The bottom line is that he should have just sold the damn thing- whether or not his personal crusade to 'cleanse' PSO of 'cheaters' will cost him his job remains to be seen.
What I meant with the Tailor vs Clerk anology was not that I EXPECT there to be a difference in the lvl of service, but more that I KNOW there willl be. I am not condoning it, I am simply acknowleding to myself before hand- the way things are. How they should/could/or will be is not relevant in reality, which is is to say, the present. I sympathize with your principal and ethic- I disagree with your immediate solution- by your own admonition, you are a hothead, yes ? Be better, and and hope the world will do the same. Its the best you can do. Save anger and physical confrontations for the truly deserving. Honestly, is a mall clerk werth a stent in Jail ? (an extreme example, I know)
There's a cheater in my school. I don't know his real name, but he's my coach's son. And I'm not sure if he actually cheats, or just gets hacked items from other players. He was deleated about two weeks ago, and started over, rising to a level higher than my own 79. He asked me abou the opa opa mag, having heard that it could go over level 200. I told him that if he got one of those and was caught with it, he would get deleated again.
Yesterday he told me that somebody had given him one, and it was at level 999. He also said that people had given him four egg blasters+99, five double sabers+20, and a Last Surviver. He's often offered t sell some of them to me, or give me some if I taught him to walk through locked doors (a nifty trick I learned last week). I just got a BSOD, so I worry about getting these from him, but he's never on anyways.
Watch out for him. He's called Gladiator, and hangs out in Titania around Block 10. He likes to play a game called LANCER, with a password of 34.

Alpha,
let me pose a question... why did u post this if you were not interested in REAL feedback rom your peers ? While I understand the desire to beat the ignorant silly, the only people that anecdote might amuse would be 13 yr olds who think Jay and Silent Bob might REALLY be prohpets from God... No working adult over the age of 21 would condone that behavior. If you cant see the contradictory nature of your response to that man, you're as ignorant as you believe him to be.
So if you can't take honest criticism in whatever form it rears its ugly head as, I would suggest that you not post any messages you cant support with a quasi-masterful use of the English language. Telling people to 'shut up' and 'stop whining' in an open forum is only going to bring you public ridicule on a world wide scale. Not one person agreed with your actions- what does that tell you ? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_razz.gif
