Has anyone seen some of the really inappropriate symbol chats? Its like part of a woman that should be covered, or one that is showing an inappropriate finger symbol. Isn't there a way that ST could do something about this? Of all things they should at least be able to implement a simple language filter, or eek out minimum wage for someone to sit in a lobby all day to monitor symbol chats. I find that these symbols really take away from the enviroment of the game.

The problem has been around for ages, dood. ST had forsaken PSO long ago. If you don't like it, go to a different lobby, or stay offline altogether. There's been dozens of rants about this. It wont go away. Best thing to do is put up with it, because there's really nothing anyone can do, sorry.

This has been a problem ever since DC ver. 1 and mit's not going to change. All we can do is deal with it.

Hide the sexual organs of the female form? Why? Reproduction is what EVERY LIVING THING is programmed to do. If people want to extend that onto PSO, frankly, who gives a rat's ass? Don't spring that, "think of the little ones" on me either. Kids can't be all THAT young if they go on PSO, and it's not like they will be mentally scarred from seeing a symbol of something they've probably sucked milk from for about 3 years of their life (or however long it is). Cussing is not a big problem either, just leave if you are all that botherd. Go and preach in another quieter lobby, about "what the online community is coming to these days" - to all your morally sound, politically correct and enlightened friends.

Actually, I agree with him on the nude symbol chats. Those are like, totally uncool, and way too common. The finger thing I don't really care about, because no one can draw a proportional hand in those little boxes yet. They all have sausage fingers.

Yeah. Hilarious. I wouldn't mind it so much if they just used them once in a while, but they lose all meaning after the first 10 or so times that I see some girl flashing her pixelated breasts. They're not funny, they're immature.

I think you've missed the point of the "rants forum". It bothers people, even if you desensitized towards certain things. Seeing those images generally aren't going to make a person turn around and rape a girl (I hope) but it's still annoying. In some ways it demoralizes the public, you missed our rivetting "pro-life/pro-choice" board. I agree the problem isn't major and that's why nothing is going to be done about it. Nor is anything going to be done about the racists on PSO.

Trust me, there are a lot more problems in the society outside of PSO that people should be concerned about. Hell, I am willing to bet that the majority of PSO players are sheltered suburban kids.

Also, J_, what is your obsession with pointing out

nothing you say strays from those two things.

I don't have online yet but my friend said people can do some crazy stuff.. I think it's cool when people make stuff like that.. I like the symbol chat idea because it gives your characters a personality.
Making a porno thing is pretty stupid, but then again, people are stupid!
let them do whatever they want.
but give them a simple reminder that they're jackasses..
( by saying jackass I am in no way offending the television show jackass, for it is brilliant )

I'm not online yet either, but I doubt I would be too greatly offended or shocked by what people say/make/show. Rolling my eyes would probably be the most I'd do. Just as long as someone doesn't make fun of me or my characters or friends I wouldn't care.
Besides, I'm a uh... VERY open person when it comes to my personal life...like, uh, lets just say I go much further than Kissing and Telling. So the boobie thingy wouldn't bother me, and dirty talk wouldn't either.

I don't care about the symbol chats, no matter how....explicit. Most times, I'm only in the lobby for about ten seconds while I search for a game to join.

And as for the Nazi freaks: Fuck 'em. Remind them that Hitler has been dead for almost sixty years.

I despise the symbol chats seen in most Apatite lobbies nowadays. (I hang out in Epdote because of this)

I mean, sure, it's clever to make a smiley no one else has thought of yet or you haven't seen yet. But on and on forever go the Hitler symbols, porno smileys, and people just flat out trying to offend someone with their finger smileys or their "F*CK off" smileys that they're so proud of. I mean, I really wish they would just shut up and leave it alone. I mean, I have nothing wrong with making smileys, but I HATE it when people use Symbol Chat the wrong way. I myself make random smileys I'll flash once or twice in a game. Nothing really inappropriate (sp?) I usually just make ones like a DJ with the CDs or some guy picking his nose saying "Cool" and stuff like that. All in all, the only smiley chat I found funny that someone ran around the lobbies using was the Smokey The Bear smiley followed by "Only you." I don't remember who had it but It made me laugh.
