View Full Version : Weak "FanFic Competition"
If you put some entries visible on the first page, and some where you have to click on a small number saying "2" - obviously people are more likely to end up voting for the ones on the first page, thus they have the advantage. I'd like to know how you decided to put which ones on the first page...*hehehe*
What can I say? My talents are wasted on this illogical/unfair/biased "competition".

No. They would just move it here so they don't get showed up anyway, just saving some time. I actually managed to send the 'moderators' the too long version of my one too, and the big twist at the end is JUST cut off - everything the story built up to. So...I guess that makes me an idiot too. At least I'll be open about it. : )
*laughs some more*...and it seems their system of "cutting and pasting" can't even handle speech marks done in word. If you wrote speech marks, they seem to come out in question marks, for some unknown reason. This gets better and better...
Oh, and if anyone actually reads testing 123 (you have to actually look on the second page the moderators decided to add), the bit that got chopped off at the end basically said how they all survived and it was all just part of something called the Beta test for PSO Virtual Reality. In other words, they was not in the real world but a trial version of a fictional version of PSO...whoopie shit.
Well 'moderators'? Are you willing to admit it's biased? Or am I going to get some politician-style-responsibility-dodging action? : )

I'm fairly certain they were all entered into the contest as a first come first serve basis, if not then they were done completly randomly. As these would be the two most fair ways to do it. Also I can assure you that the admins did the contest in a manor they felt would be the most fair to everyone. As for them not responding, reason would stand to suggest it's because none of them are on. Theres only one mod on, and for the most parts, its the admins that structured the contest.

This is your first PSOW competition. They have all been done like this. Just because your fanfic is on the second page, you feel like you have to rant a rave about it, eh? Let me ask you something: How many people do you think are actually going to go through all the trouble and read each and every story? I read one, didn't like it, and didn't vote for/against it. This competition went a little over the heads of the "Average" user of this site. Your story won't be the only one that gets overlooked, so don't sweat the small stuff.

Maximum word count: 3000. Entries over 3000 words will only have the first 3000 words posted. Unless it's 300 for the short.

All submissions are final, NO EXCEPTIONS!
If you are submitting a direct copy paste of a WORD doc through a PM, be sure to check through it for markups. If you are submitting a WORD doc through email's, the same procedure should be given. Staff will just do a straight copy and paste and will not entertain requests. Please be aware of " becoming ? when you do a direct copy paste from Word into text fields.
The staff will not correct or edit any entries even upon personal request.

no because we are just going by what the system allows for the maximum number of votes per page. and i am sorry that we sleep, have lives, responsibilities and jobs while you're on a completely different timezone.

1. we don't have to hold contests. we are under no obligations
2. admins don't actually have to do anything on the site except fix broken things. everything else we did was gravy. we do not receive benefits or pay.
3. we are paying for contest prizes out of our own pocket.
so, if it's weak, look go hold your own contest. go make it better, i welcome you too, all the best for you.
every damn contest there is arguing whining and complaining. we'll make it really simple and just stop all contests and events. not like we have to have them. after all, the original intent was just to have them for our members so you guys can enjoy something.
really simply put, i will no longer be paying attention to this thread.

I have a damn full time job and a life. I just got home from my job after working all day and find this nonsense. It was random, we stated the rules, We can't do that much else about it. You should at least be a little damn conciderate being we run this site for free on our spare time.
We buy the prizes out of our own pocket.
And then we have to deal with inconciderate people that just love to complain all day.
Thanks alot you really made yourself look like a jerk.

I entered, but i shoulda tried harder because im almost positive im gonna loose, but there will always be other contests aslong as annoying people dont piss the admins off, aka you.
Well, it's good to see someone has taken my point in - and put them all on one page. But it's a bit late now, at least next time it can be fair. As for the testing 123 thing, I am the guy who wrote that - I was flamming myself for mailing the moderators one of the versions before I had cut it back to 3000 - thus ruining the whole whole climax. It's pants anyway, 6 hours worth of work, literally.

I see we had some classical politician style dodgeing from Lolita- nice. : ) The fact that I submitted the wrong un-edited version, and then OPENLY ADMITTED my mistake doesn't mean you should not just come out and say -
"Yes. The people who organised the FanFic competition screwed up, when splitting the enteries onto seperate pages thus giving the ones on the first page the advantage." : )

The majority of votes are for the ones that WERE on the first page, before I pointed out seperate pages was biased. DUH # 1.

In all the other catagories the content of the plot was dictated to you, so logically, you have to be more creative when you are not given a set guide for your plot - like a "fight scene". The fact I had to include PSOW members was your choice, not mine. Plus, I am as certain as I can be without knowing you and the others, that I am more creative and more talented at writing. Obviously, I can't be sure - but I would bet my bottom dollar I'm not wrong. DUH # 3.

P.S Last time I checked, every single vote for the fight scene catagory was for ones that were on the first page (prior to them realizing the mistake and putting them all on one). I am amazed you people are moderators. You are supposed to be all uber and everything. *chuckle*...you just CANNOT say it to me, can you?

moderators aren't supposed to be uber. where the damn blue hell do you get that idea from? mods are people and are like other people, humans. besides mods aren't the ones running the contest. and admins aren't uber either. we're all the same. so i don't know where you get your uber idea from. and we don't have to do anything. we don't have to run the contest. we don't have to run future contests because of whiners like you. or we can be like other mods and admins and ban you because we want to.
besides psow is not just forums and this and that. the majority of the traffic psow gets is because of our game information and content. and i'd rather be focusing on that and expanding the site than people like you.
btw hey have you checked the voting for short. the leading story would have been an entry on the 2nd page. omg, how did that happen? and most of the votes for it were entered before we changed the layout. and why did we change it, to make it easier for people and membrs to vote. god forbid we think of the members.
good god, go pick another fight about something else, this is getting old. why don't you put all that energy into making a guide. at least you'll be helping someone else out.
