I've been playing offline for some time now, and I really badly want to get online. I've been looking around for a BBA... well, that's not really my problem.

Anyway, my computer is in a seperate room, down the hall from my GameCube. I figure I could run some sort of cable from my GC to my computer. However, upon examining the back of the box-thing for my Cable internet connection, I realised that I would need to pull the cable out that connects it to my computer out to hook up my GC.

My question is this: Is there any way I could do it so that I didn't have to switch cables every time I wanted to use one or the other, and if so, would it be possible to use the internet on my computer, while also being online with my GameCube?

What you're asking about is called a router. It's a box you plug into your main broadband modem and from there will split into four other plugs that you can use to plug in your computer, your cube, and whatever else will take a DSL/cable connection plug. I recomend netgear as a brand name, but you can pick out whatever you thing is good.

Without a router, then you have to do the unplugging and replugging directly into the modem to do stuff. A router will also let you do both computer and game cube stuff at the same time.

Ah, thanks...

Do you know if I could find one at a store anywhere, or would I have to order one?

You can find them at most stores that carry computers and computer stuff. Bestbuy is a good place to go.

There's a cheaper option. You could make your computer share the connection.
For that, you'll need to buy an Ethernet network card and a RJ45 Crossover cable.
Install the Ethernet card in your computer. It's easy.
Then, use the wire to connect the network card with your BBA. Then, you either use Internet Connection Sharing(Win98 SE and up), or a proxy like WinRoute Lite to let your computer share the connection to your network card.

This method is cheaper, but requires a bit of work. If you plan to do this, tell me and I'll give you the details on how to configure the GameCube and eventually the proxy.

Internet conection sharing works fine, and is incredibly easy to set up, theres a detailed walk through on how to do this in the sticky at the top of this forum, in the question about using AOL on the gamecube.

My set up for X box live and a Gamecube BBA is as follows
USB modem on my P.C, PC runing internet conection sharing.
25 metre Ethernet RJ45 lead running out of the back of my PC, from a network card, through a hole in the wall, up through the wall cavity, into the loft (atic) then accross the loft space though a hole in the ceiling into the room where my gamecube, X box, dremacast etc are, at the end of this cable is a crossover adaptor, into which a black 1/2metre long network lead pugs into , ( coneced to my gamecube) or a green 1 metre lead plugs into ( conected to my X box), depending which conesole im using online.
