Master Breaker, how does it work exactly?

I have a Master Breaker +1, it says that it takes 8% of an enemies expirience. Call me thick, but I don?t understand how it works. If I just walk around killing everybody with it my exp will increase ie. ATP, ATA, MST etc will increase? I tried but didn?t notice any difference.

use the special attack button and when you hit them bastards you'll see baby blue +Xnumber when you hit em.
