Unless you're tweaked. I can get a new level 1 char into Ult in less than 4 hours easily. But if you are playing mostly legit, than like the other poster's stated already...its gonna be awhile. I'd say alot longer than 12 hours.

I got into Ult offline with a level 44 FOnewearl before. Of course, I gave her lots of good stuff, and a good mag, and lots and lots of legitimate materials I had been saving up for her. I think I saw a level 38 in ult on the JP BBS a long long time ago.
Anyway, I suggest skipping episode 2 completly, and focus on buzzing your way through Episode 1. It may be a little less flashy, but it is a tad bit quicker if you are going for speed. Just make sure you have enough HP and Dark resistance to survive at Falz.

I twinked my HUcast fairly well. I got into Ult at L51. I probably could have gotten there sooner, but I wasted a lot of time playing split-screen with a friend who was raising a FOmar.

Hmmmm. I made it to Ult at level 39 once and that was near impossible. I made sure I had maps with low enemy counts and I BARELY made it. I was religious in not killing anything i didn't have to. Wonder how they made it to Ult at level 38. Impressive http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Reaching Ultimate at gusto requires a lot of 'twinking'. If you're doing it with a first character, it will take a much longer time.
But imagine this: A Level 1 FO can feasibly fight Dark Falz on Very Hard. With 125 HP materials and the attribute materials evenly distributed, that gives you decent stats and 250 extra HP. That gives you around 275HP already. Now add a 185+ Mind MAG and 4 God/HPs. You have enough Mind to whoop the asses of all the enemies in Ultimate Ruins and around 600 HP to survive very convincingly. Falz only does around 420 damage max, so you could easily beat him.
Of course, getting to V-Hard Falz at Level 1 is totally impossible. Even with hacks that unlock all the levels (do such things exist yet for the GCN and XB version?), entering Ruins 1 and killing even a single Claw would instantly level you up and a V-Hard Ruins run would probably net you around 30k exp at a guess, meaning you'd reach Falz at Level 20-25 minimum. I have no idea how you can fight Falz at anything less than Level 40 having worked that out. You would simply gain too much EXP from doing the whole run from Normal to V-Hard...
Rambling session over.

Nice try but you're incorrect. You can reach Ult at level 39 if you are selective about the map you use and are also very careful to not kill anything you don't absolutely have to.

If you do the math, you will see that by going through the least populated areas (usually) you will come up with this:
Total EXP for Forest 4545
Total EXP for Caves 32998
Total EXP FOR Mines 37886
Total EXP for Ruins 32904
Total EXP from those areas = 108333
Total EXP from all bosses through VHard Falz = 49050
That gives a grand total of 157383
Total EXP for a level 40 char = 154103
A difference of 3280.
The above EXP counts are for killing EVERY ENEMY in that area. You can easily get by without killing alot of those enemies. If you take a straight course to the next level, you're bypassing quite a few enemies. Therefore, like I said if you are VERY CAREFUL to go straight through and only kill what you have too, you can barely make it to Ult at level 39. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Well, I may have been incorrect, but Level 40 wasn't a bad guess, you gotta admit! ;D
As for Level 38, are you sure you took into account some external factors, such as killing moths or slimes splitting, and Darvants (although the slimes splitting is hardly a difficult thing to control...)? Although it's highly unlikely and I seriously doubt those alone would push you up to 39, considering that with that total EXP, you are dangerously close to Level 40.
Better yet, does a 'No EXP' hack exist, so it is possible to see how far it is possible to go through the game at a meagre Level 1? I'm guessing that you would probably get caught out at Ult Falz - everything up to that point is possible to dodge, with an insane amount of skill and luck. At this point though, Grants / Falz Swipe would kill you outright - Grants could be survivable through some Resist/Holy units, but the Falz Swipe could not be survivable. Anyone willing to state ways in which this could ever be avoided is welcome to! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

I am kind of skeptical actually of anyone reaching Ult at level 38 (but I'm assuming you are referencing the other poster since I never claimed to get there at level 38). As for a "No exp hack" I don't know of any for GC, although i agree it would be interesting to experiment with. Like I said I BARELY, BARELY scraped by at level 39. I leveled almost immediately in F1 to level 40. I'll have to try it again sometime and record exact numbers (it only takes me less than 4 hours to do it.) I did have to exit and restart LOTS and LOTS of times though to get the maps I wanted. I don't think you can do it just going through with whatever map you randomly get.

Yes, I was reffering to the guy who said someone reached Ultimate at Level 38, not you. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif For now though, it looks like Level 39 is the lowest possible level possible to reach Ultimate... unless one of your maps was incorrect or those minor factors I mentioned made such a big difference (which, considering how thorough you were, I'm sure you minimized these factors as much as possible). In a related note, is it possible to just defeat a Mothnest in order for the next door to open, or do you have to kill all the moths first?

Unfortunately, you must kill all the Moths as well. Otherwise either the door will not open or it will not release the next wave of enemies. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Hey, if a confused enemy kills another enemy, do yu still get EXP? I'm guessing you do, but if you didn't...

hey.,, good question. I believe you do still get exp considering you would have had to either use a trap or wep to confuse them. I'm leveling my legit char at the moment but I can try it later unless someone else wants to check it out real quick first.

you will get the exp IF its your trap. if its a trap thats already there. it confuses the enemy, they kill each other, you dont get the exp because the trap didnt come from you.

In reference to the confusion on the level 38 getting into ULT, I said I think it was level 38, and it was a very long time ago, like last October. It could have been level 39. Fact is, I'm not sure, and I thought I made my wording clear that I wasn't 100% sure on it.
Sorry for the confusion.

Your wrong there if we were on the DC version. You could unlock all levels and then do walk through walls cheat.
If a level 1 defeats Ultimate Falz online and gets the kill, he/she would go up to level 26. But that is impossible because of the level boundary online.
