First off, let me say a quick hello to everyone, and my compliments on a great community site.

Anyhow, main question. I'm still awaiting the arrival of my PSO CD in the new few days, and I have learned there is only a 1 character per VMU restriction. Is there any way around this if you have an official release 4 page unit? Thanks. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif

Well, its 1 Character per VMU, and yes you can have 4 characters with a 4x card of any type.

I was thinking of picking up the keyboard adapter myself if I can spare the cash just in case the "quick talk" menu is way too limiting. Plus I have to see those special Alt poses. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_wink.gif

Not a Sega 4X? Well there's your problem...

I hate to say it, but VMUs are really one place you should never skimp.

Buy Sega. Out of all the people I've talked to, they never seem to give errors. (Which is suprising for a multicard on ANY system)

If you just can't bear the thought of buying a Sega one (why the hell not???) then try MadCatz... Their stuff is usually decent, although I've had to throw my MadCatz Keyboard Adapter against the wall on a couple occasions to get it to work. (I'm not kidding, ask Russian.)

not skimping at all, if I could find the frigging thing I'd own it. Guess I might have to buy online or something.

edit- also note there are issues with segas own x4. Just so happened PSO made me need memory bad, and the *only* option I found having more than 200 blocks shopping all over was that one. I'm also trying a memory/feedback combo for the hell of it, which seems to work ok memorywise, just not sure about the jump.. lol.

Well DC, I'm sorry to hear you can't get your hands on a Sega 4x. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_frown.gif I have a gaming store a few blocks away with a whole shelf of them they are trying to clear, so they don't seem that rare to me. Maybe you should try to find a smaller chain store, or one that handles import games... those seem to be the ones with the largest selections on accessories.

And Seut, you had to throw the adapter against the wall? I hope mine isn't THAT tempermental. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif

The night I got my mad catz keyboard adapter, it would get stuck and repeate certian keys like:

kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

unplug, put back in and then it would work fine.. Once I played again the next day -- no problems.

I bought a plain ole sega VMU for PSO ONLY. no other saves. Everything else, I keep as is.. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif I like to keep my stuff safe.

Actually, not all 4X memory cards work, I know Pelican doesn't work. And I can't seem to get mine to save PSO snapshots either. Don't buy those whatever you do. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif

And the Interact's memory cards work, you just can't have other vmus or memory cards plugged into other controllers when your loading/saving. My new interact 8X memory card works great, and it supposedly can transfer saved files to my PC using the included software program and cable.

BTW, this is KLin304, I haven't gotten my password yet so I can't log into the site. :/

Actually my favorite save choice isn't Sega at all now for PSO - it's a combo vmu/jump pack.

Not a hitch yet and the damn thing LOCKS IN PLACE, so it won't pop out like a lit firework when my controller hits the ground.

I still think the cord should enter the controller *from the backside*. My controllers drop off my table all the time :b

I have a Sega 4X VMU, and I had a problem. My controller unplugged and my data became corrupted. This really bit because it was my first character, and I had worked him up quite dilligently over my first week of play. Then POOF. Gone. Nice thing is that I was able to keep my guild card library, so I have no idea what the technical cause was.

Whenever I get disconned, It prompts me to save, but that time it had a message saying that I could NOT save. What I believe happened was this: Sega has all sorts of safeguards against piracy, right? Well perhaps one of those safeguards kicked in when the controller unplugged, causing the DC to think I was copying my VMU data or somesuch thing... and said, "No, no... can't do that!" and denied me access to the file.

Other than that, the VMU works wonderfully, and I have 4 seperate characters running on the card with no difficulties whatsoever. Put your money into Sega. Then need it. =)

PS Seutekh wasn't lying. He was running around saying, "AAAAAAAaaaaaaAAAAAAA" for about 5 minutes. I thought he'd gone insane. Turns out it was just his Madcatz keyboard adapter. He threw it against the wall and it worked. Go fig.

I had trouble with my 4x card I bought last night. I noticed that you have to pull it out, and then put it back in now and again. For some reason, the Sega doesn't keep it activated or something. Anyways, it says VMU required, which I'm sure just means Memory Card, but I notice better results with my VMU then with my 4x card. Another thing is that if I have my VMU in one slot, and my 4x card in another, it won't read my 4x card but it will read my VMU.

I'm kind of nervous about it erasing my characters because of this though...

I wonder if the same holds true for taking snapshots in PSO? The Pelican 4X still seems to not be working, but then again I can't seem to take snapshots no matter what I do so it might be because I'm not pushing the right buttons. I'd have to backup the saves on one of my VMUs to test to see if only VMUs work for snapshot taking but I'm kind of worried they'll got lost in cyberspace. :/ It would be really good if the multiple memory cards could store pictures, then you could take more than one picture while your playing.

Got the Nexus 16x card (woot!) and it works great. Since it has PC backup I can have TONS of characters (now I just need the tons of time to play them). One thing I noticed in the docs that came with it are the fact that on it you need to wait at least 15 seconds after changing a page in order to have it recognized. DCkaz perhaps your mem card is going through the same time of switch time.
