What does MAG stand for?

I've searched quite a few web pages and stuff. Mostly about stats and how to create the rare mags, but I was wondering...what does MAG stand for...if anything that is? For example "Mechanical Augmentation Gear"? What do you guys think?

I don't even think it's an acronym like so many people think it is. Look a basic, unevolved mag. It says "Mag" not "MAG".

I've always thought it's a shot version of Magnet.

I got this idea once I was trying to translate a PSO page in Japanese with Babelfish. The translation for Mag was "magnet".

Also, one of the first quests is called Magnitude of Metal. In this quest Elenor says: "When Mags get damaged, they charge energy to endure the pain. The charged energy can be converted into a Photon Blast!". Well, we all know that. But if you think about it, a Mag works just like a dynamo, and a dynamo is basically a magnet.

Oh, well... just my personal version... u.u;;;

BTW, I stumbled on this site " http://www.biwa.ne.jp/~hoehoe/pso/ " that claims that Mag is short for "Magurisuto" which roughly translated means "evil spirit implement" or "wicked mind implement"...who knows the truth? Oh well, here goes another one "Mean Attack Gear"...
