Also: sometimes, *randomly* when I'm on a topic page, the background is blue (I picked that) but then, when I open a thread, the thread itself is in black/grey, meaning I'm not signed in.

page comes up in blue (I'm IN)

personally, I this (is a personal) problem because the black is kinda hard on my eyes....

Sounds like a browser issue and not consistently loading the cookies. I used to have a problem like that where it wouldn't reload information when it had just changed. (Rather annoying.)
