Why does it have the scent and taste of metal?

No, I've tasted it on accident some time ago. It's tastes AND smells like metal...like that of a Quarter.

Well, blood does have iron in it. (Thus the red color)

Well, when it rusts, it turns reddish. Ever seen red dirt? That's because of the iron in it.

Blood gets it's reddish color when it meets oxygen, it's "un-oxygenated" color is blue. Like your veins.

Sorta reminds me of my cat. When it's normal, its a nice reddish color. However when I hold it for long periods of time, it turns blue.
