It affects the chance of getting a critical hit.

i think it just increases your chances of getting a crictical hit. it also doesnt affect the items you will find either.

thx... but do forces need any luck then??

if your a melee force or use guns a lot...then yes, luck would be benficial.
Basically, the only characters that don't really need Luck are FOnewearls and FOnewms, since one of them going melee is just wasted potential.

Not necessarily. If you give them the right equipment they can melee quite well. =D I do with mine.

i was wondering. does the luck stop at 100. if it does, does that mean each time you hit the person does it do critical damage?

I would suppose, somebody told me whatever your luck is thats the chance of doing a critical in a percentage formula. Example: if you have 20 Luck, you have a 20% chance of doing a critical hit. But I don't know if his acusation was correct

I've said it once and I'll say it again.
LUCK IS FOR CRITICAL HITS AND CRITICAL HITS ONLY. IT IS IN NO WAY RELATED TO FINDING RARES!!! I HAVE 50 LUCK AND I ONLY FIND RUBBISH RARES NOT VERY OFTEN!!! LUCK DOES NOT EQUAL FINDING RARES!!!
If anyone brings up this again... i swear i'm gonna do something bad...DID I SAY THAT OUT LOUD?!?!?!?!

That's just stupid. You should already know that the FOnewearl has the lowest ATP, and thus, the lowest non-technique damage potential in the game. Trying to do most of your damage with attacks while using a FOnewearl is just wasting potential. A FOmar or FOmarl would be very much better suited to this task.
As for FOnewms... They have a little less ATP than a FOmarl, but they really are better off using their Gi- and Ra- techniques in almost any circumstance. Unlike FOmarls, FOnewms have multi-target technique enhancements (as well as a lot more MST), making them better stuited to using these techniques against enemies and most boss fights. In other words, FOnewms have some melee potential, but they're better off using techniques as the main offense.

Sure you could melee with the FOnewearl if you want. It would make the game more challenging, but as Kent said, it is wasting potential. However, it is your character, do with it what you will.

Well. When you are offline and don't want to spend too much on fluids, using a gun isn't too bad a thing. Or, when you are a lazy ass like me who hasn't even finished Hard mode at level 95, meleeing isn't such a bad idea either. But yes. As you said, the techs are a lot more powerful than gun damage and easier to execute. I do that when playing online and boss. =}
I am not very happy with the melee damage my FOmar is doing though....

Always have Shifta, Deband, and Zalure cast (Jellen if you're taking too much damage) and get a god weapon for him, such as Brave Knuckle, Soul Eater, Double Saber, Angry Fist, Booma's Claw, and S-Rank Twin.
Also, get plenty of power and dex on your mag, and power units. Your damage should be pretty decent with that kinda of setup.

making a melee Fo is as foolish as making a Fo-ranger... its jus not right nag-damnit!! making the game more challenging is pointless. It makes the game harder, and less fun.. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

My FOmar melees well with my G-Assassin's Sabers. They are easy to get and a strong weapon for a FOmar.

...Do you know what the term "hybrid" means? A mix between two things. The people that make melee Forces want versatility. My FOmar can kick all kinds of ass with his weapon and his techniques, that's a damn good character-type if you ask me...

I wouldn't exactly say it's wasted potential - it's simply diversifying your character by covering a weakness at the cost of a little degradation to your strengths. At least, that's the way most people would do it.
When I made my FOnewearl - I maxed her out on ATP and LUCK to begin with. Used all of her material limit and most of my mag potential to do it - but she was maxed around lvl 70. From there, I remade her mag to be ATA oriented - as FOnewearls already have the best ATA of all the forces. She was maxed on ATA, ATP, and LUCK at lvl 120. Now, all that's left is to equip her right. God/Battle from my Redria, Elf/Arm++, Metal/Body.. and of course a Wizard/Tech to boost my spells just a bit. Since you cannot do massive amounts of damage per strike, you simply have to substitute with more hits. Dagger type weapons have decent ATP boosts with good accuracy boosts - so those tend to be my favorites.
The point of a Melee FOnewearl is not to try to match HUnters or RAngers in damage potential. The point is to have one that can survive the riggors of Ultimate mode, help deal out the damage, get monsters off the HU's backs so they can do their jobs, and to provide support.
Melee FO's have an important advantage over "FO-Humars" and "FO-Rangers" hybrids. FO-Meleers have access to level 30 spells, have access to ALL spells, and have a higher MST to make those spells effective. My FOnewearl has, for the longest time, been a more competant melee character than my HUmar - simply because of lvl 30 S/D, J/Z, Resta, and RAbarta. If they ever run into a situation they cannot handle with weapons - they have a full arsenal of attack techs to fall back on to help get them through.
Offline - there's nothing that can stand against her. Online - she relies a bit more on her team, but then again, this is a team game - on in which I'm already filling an important role with by casting high level support techs. Pure tech casters are also known to be an annoyance to the team, in my experience, because their techs cannot match the damage alot of the HUnters and RAngers do - but they cause monsters to reel back from the attack, making HU's and RA's miss their shots and giving monsters and oppertunity to counterstrike while the HU is still comming out of his (now ineffective) combo.
Not to mention it's also priceless to watch the expression of people - expecially FOmars around my level - when they see my FOnewearl land 3 hits out of a 6 hit combo which do just under 600 dmg per strike (The other hits do about 450 dmg) and can take down most monsters in a single combo. Now while that number isn't impressive next to the HU's 1,200 - it's quite good for the "Weakest character in the game". Not to mention that they wouldn't usually be doing 1,200 dmg if not for MY lvl 30 S/D & J/Z. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
Also, as someone pointed out earlier, there's the element of challenge added to the game. It really helps keep you on your toes and keeps the game fresh - as you often have to employ quite a bit more tactics in raising and using one effectively than any other class in the game.

My fonewearl can melee and use techniques It isn't bad either she can do something else beside using techniques all the time by the way my luck is 100 and I get critcal hits on almost all my hits http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

You must be lucky BR. In all the time I've had my FOnewearl's LUCK maxed, she's always hovered at around 50 to 60% hit rate for Criticals. It's almost like finding rares actually - as some nights, I can't get criticals if my life depended on it (And as a Melee FOnewearl, it sometimes does) - and other nights the Criticals just flow like water. Yet in all that time, I think I've only seen her critical with every single strike in the attack about a total of 10 times. Almost always it's 3 to 4 Criticals and 2 to 3 non-criticals.

My favorite character so far has been my FO-RAmarl. Using Level 20 Rafoie, Rabarta, Shifta, and Zalure techs (still haven't found any 19-20 disks to test if Devil/Battle can have them reach higher than 20, the highest I've found are 18) in combination with with the new Yasminkov 7000R I got is the most satisfying character to play yet. I've completely forgotten about my forces.
