I believe it was Reuters who reported that the latest scientific find determines that our genes sets our sexuality, whether you're straight, bi, gay, or even veggie (as in vegetable). RANT ON!

Frankly, I feel blessed to look at hentai. ^.^

Here's a site that I found that has a good amount of information on what was found.

http://www.datalounge.com/datalounge/news/record.html?record=21035

The genes that were found not only help to explain sexual orientation but also what we perceive ourselves as (our gender (no, gender and sex are not the same thing)).

isn't it genes that figure out EVERYTHING about us

By the way, I'm looking for educated thoughts and guesses.

not everytime, your experience might also make you lean to one sexual orientation.

I've looked at the basis of sexual orientation in the aspect that you have a certain one naturally and that you cannot necessiarly change. But one can become bisexual by means of external stimuli and someone whose bisexual could lean much more in one direction than the other. So, basicly, I can see it has being either natural or as something that developed later in life, with the latter not really being "true" homosexuality, but bisexuality that leans to one side.

My belief is similar to lollipop in that genes can predispose you to certain things. Your environment is just as important.
I read not too long ago that being the third son increases the odds of being gay.
Identical twins are both gay only 52% of the time.

it doesn't really matter does it. if you're gay, you're gay. if you're lesbian, you are. if you're bi you are. if you're straight you are. life goes on.

^Life goes on yes, but Life needs to be explained to one thoroughly if he or she wishes it.

I guess the kind of person my mom(since half my genes come from her; I don't really know my dad that well, so eh, half my other gene I don't understand I guess) is, explains my sexuality. (I really don't understand this topic http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif;;)

So in a matter of speaking genes will predetermine who you will be?

Hmmm...boy that is a real dangerous ideology to accept. Why? Very simple, we will start to judge people by genes...a new and terrifying level of racism will arise. Look how bad it is just becuase of different color, beliefs, outer appearance, speech, etc etc and now we will add genes into the mix. Man I hope you guys are ready for a new style of segregation.

This is ridiculous to me, imho. What now, are we going to punish the children of depraved criminals because they might have the genes of their criminal parents. Are we now going to attempt to manipulate genes in order to make a perfect person? Is not that we fought against is WW2 (you know, the perfect "race").

This is beyond sexuallity, it is about our core existence in this world. Very scary indeed.

they never said it determines everything. they said research suggests it determines sexuality. it never said just genes determines it either, just that it does determine and is one of the determining factors. and they never really said anything beyond that.

if you're interested in genes predetermining personality, go read up on twin studies.

Twin studies are fun...but then again, so is being a twin.

Yeah really! Homosexuality has been around since... Bible times right!? ( Cant't remeber clearly shoulda paid more attention to my folks)
Well anyhoo i have a question... Since are genes can
determine these things. Can it also determine if we turn out to be promiscou...pornmisc....ggrrr PROMISCUOUS! Jeez hate not being able to spell...

Well anyway the reason i ask is because i look at myself and my other friends and let's just say our differance toward sex is kinda different.
So is it because of genes or our what we go through in our lives?

P.S. I would just hit the link and read it meself to make my own conclusion but my comp is a lil strange today... need I say more? Also sry about any bad spelling i missed

Even though scientists think so. Logic can't answer everything.

uhh, how many medievel men where gay?
Homosexuality has been around since Moses' era.
