My melee force, on Ultimate Ruins, was doing 500+ damage to enemies. Of course, I had S/D from a chain of PB blasts (I had an ATP of 1500) and they had level 28 Zalure on them, the enemies.. but still... doing 500+ damage, on Ultimate mode, with a FOnewearl and her Gladius does rule... it made my night!
No al rappies either!

For the mellee FO there's not much of a difference. But for the Al Rappies there is...

Meleeing with a FOnewearl... *does not compute*
Well my FOmarl can deal over 500 with only Shifta in Ult Ruins (RED SABER), just to point out FOnewearl should not melee :?

Heh...when I finally decide to take the time to make a Force, it will hopefully be a Bluefull Fomar, and he's gonna use Partisans and Elsyion. Well...thats the plan anyway. But I see why a Melee Force would be great, since they can buff themselves up a lot by themselves, whereas Hunters (except Hunewearl) cannot.

But that is what makes the whole thing so fun! Its challenging as all hell - plus all the comments people make about never seeing a melee FOnewearl before.
My interest in PSO was dying, so I figured to make a melee force to make the game difficult... oh yeah, its really hard. But its fun, and right now my force is 3 levels higher then my hunter (levels 111 and 108 respectively) and I find it too boring to play with my hunter.
Long live melee FOnewearls! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

More power to you! I am sick and tired of people telling us forces how to play! Grab your weapons brother and sisters! Let's have a national Melee Force Day! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
PS. I got a FOmar at 185, and melee is all I ever do (S/D/J/Z are constant of course). I just put Spirit on my S-rank twin. With the aid of a power Mag, and someone elses Zalure S-rank Shot, I was doing 1600+!!!! with the Spirit special. Just amazing! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif GO FORCES!

But remember, a good melee force knows when its acceptable to hit something with their wand (or Mind Gladius with 30 hit in my case!) or when to cast magic. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
I love casting S/D/J/Z since the SDJ are all level 30 now and Z is level 28... I traded photon drops for all the disks and it is the most rewarding thing in the world to cast the magic and see the enemies cripple!

I melee with my FOnewn and FOmar as well, but for enemies such as Delsabers and those Megid-spitters I must break out my lvl 30 Rafoie and Rabarta.

if you are the only FO in the game, just s/d z/j , resta a bit and use your [insert weapon here] then no one will complain i guess ..

Heh.. welcome to the club. Those are pretty much the same reasons I started a Melee FOnewearl back on v.1 for the DC. I get tired of going into games and seeing the exact same characters, with the exact same equiptment, with the exact same stats - it's horrible. You can be a great PSO player without having to have the "Best of the Best" of everything.
Too bad you're on the Xbox, or I'd say we should hook up for a game sometime. I'm curious to see how well you're doing with her by seeing her in action. The most damage I've ever topped in a single strike was 850 with a 4way PB combo. I probably could have boosted that into the 900's or possibly even break 1,000 if I'd have had my Combat Gear and a stronger weapon back then. I try to stay away from the stronger weapons and focus on the multi-hit weapons like Partsians and Daggers. Of course - that covers about 8 weapons she can use out of those classes total - but they really do make a difference.
The closest I've come to cheating with her is putting %'s on her weapons - which is almost a necessity when playing a character as inately weak as the FOnewearl in open games with characters toting BKB's, Guld Milla's, TJswords.. ect. Playing a Melee FOnewearl is an excersize in squeezing every last drop of ATP potential out of a character - and utilizing %'s is just a means to an end. Average damage is still fairly light. She can kick out about 290 (350) on a normal hit and 550 (600) on a hard attack. With SD/JZ in place of course. (Numbers in parentesis are for criticals - of which I usually get anywhere from 1 to 4 per combo regularly)
I wouldn't necessarily say she's all that much of a challenge though. Her versitility with support spells make her much easier to work with solo than any HU or RA with the exception of HUnewearl or RAmarl.

By seeing her in action? I'll get into Ultimate Ruins offline and record a video of her playing. Online I get slaughtered, but offline (I did Temple and with S/D/J/Z and some equipped items) the Arlans would smack me... and surprise, not do a cent of damage to me. On Ult!
Though I do have to admit, I do have a God/Body and a God/Arm equipped... it makes a difference, though I could probably ditch the God/Arm due to the 30% hit on my weapon, and I could probably replace the God/Body with a Metal/Body since I have one. Its just that I traded many Photon Drops I've collected for those items... though I still wonder if I should use them even if they might have came from questionable sources.
So perhaps I'll replace them with lesser equivelents, such as a Metal/Body and an Elf/Arm++ and I probably will do just fine. Might be harder, but what the hay... thats why I chose melee FOnewearl anyway. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
I'll get a video of her playing offline Ruins with her equipment change (I get owned on online Ruins unless I get the awesome 4-chain PB), so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
And I'll the video on here, too!

Meh, the video wouldn't do much. For me anyhow - I don't have DSL to download it with. It's just that I've been set in my ways and expirimented quite a lot with her to tweak her out in the almost three years I've been playing her. I just like seeing different people's approach to overcomming the ATP hurdle. I might be able to pick up some hints on things I haven't thought of, and I might be able to offer some advice.
Offline ruins are a cake-walk for my FOnewearl - and online is very do-able. She preforms much better in a team - as her main tactic for online is to come up from behind an enemy and attack. She can drop an Del-Del and below in just barely over 1 combo if she hits every time. This is why it's helpful to attack in a team, whereas my party can deal out damage and weaken them enough to where I can drop most monsters there in a single combo. Even if there is no damage delt by my team-mates, being able to attack from behind ensures a safe combo even if I miss the first strike.. and enough time to start into my second combo before they get a chance to turn around and target me.
Even without a team though, she's more than able to take out multiple Delsabers, Indi Belras, Chaos Bringers by herself. It just takes her a little longer. That's the tradeoff. A HUmar or HUcast can take them out faster than I can - but they're at a much greater risk of killed. Mana's support spells are her vercitility - and she's able to last much longer in a fight than they could.
