Every now and then I dye my hair black.
(Helps me look older. Nothing more embarressing when people think your 15 when your 20!?) Long story.

I've heard the dye itself (Ecspecially black) is quite nasty to the skin and can severely irritate it. But I've had no problems with it until recently.

Last week, (Ironically the very day I started my new job) I woke up to find I had a large bright red sore rash across my forehead. Didn't think too much of it at the time.

Well over the days It's got sorer and sorer and I've found I now have a really really stupid amount of 'Dandruff' in my hair. And when I say stupid? I mean it's everywhere. It's just disgusting. I've washed my hair thoroughly over the last few days over and over (well not over the top, that can be bad for your hair too) and I still can't get rid of it. I've had it bad before but this is ridiculouse and also very embaressing. My Head itches like mad and I've noticed I now have a very sore rash behind both my ears and I'm frequently get headaches.

During the week I mentioned it to one of my co-workers.
Turned out they'd had the same problem at one time and discoverd it was because they'd died they're hair black.
It then clicked into place as I'd only done mine the week before.

I've now got this special medicinal cream to rub on my forehead and behind the ears.
Thing is, I'm supposed to apply it to my skin 2-3 times a day. But when your working in a busy, hot, sweaty shop I found that when I sweat it tends to get into my eyes and irritates them immensely.

So obviousely I'm not feeling very good, am having trouble sleeping as my head is driving me mad and have started a full time job, whilst still trying to make a good impression! (>.<)

Never gonna dye my hair again. (Well black at least)
If it's not any better by next week, I'm going back to the doctors.

Well atleast you still had your hair. For awhile, my hair was falling out and I didn't know why. It could have been due to malnutrition or because my scalp was so dry, but I don't have that problem anymore.

I really wish you'd stop spamming everytime I have something to say, it's very irritating.

::bans shattered::

anyhow, i relate to your problem. no, not the hair one, but the one about looking too young. i'm 19, but i seriously look like i'm a lot younger. and i have dark hair. so, i figured that growing facial hair might help. well, because it is against uniform policy at my school, i realize that i'll have to grow my facial hair on my days off. but then, i realized, i can't really grow facial hair very well. that's ok, i really don't want to look like a wookie anyway. i'll just have to look 15 for a while longer...

I have the opposite of your problem, Joel. I am 17 with a decent amount of facial hair and most think that I am 23 years old. Not 24 or 22, but 23 is the response I get from most.

I'm 20 (21 in a couple of weeks) and people have told me I look 12. At work they give me the benefit of the doubt and say 14. I will occasionally get a 16 or 17.

That sucks about the hair, though. I wanted to dye my hair black once, but now I'm definitely not going to bother. I like my hair right where it is.

I'm also another young-looking one. I can't dye my hair to another colour to make me look older though. It's already black, and dying to another colour makes me look younger. I'm 20, and people think I'm in my mid-teens.

Although people did think I was crazy when my hair was blue...

I dyed my hair blue once too.
But whenever it got messy and flat It looked like my Bedroom carpet.
Never gonna do that again too... :D

I wouldn't mind doing it again, because I liked it a lot. I'd also do it to piss off all of my family. There's only one bad thing about it for me, though, and that is that I'd have to bleach my hair, and be a blondie for a few hours.

Bleach totally ruins your hair, too. And it's nasty on the scalp.

Yeah, it isn't exactly great for your hair. I remember the first time I showered after dying my hair, my hair felt horrible, it didn't even feel like hair!

I tried dying it blonde once. It turned ginger and I cried for hours.

Hah! You're supposed to leave it in for longer. If you have dark hair, it goes from light-brown, ginger, then finally blonde.

Once I wanted to die my hair blue. I was lazy and didn't want to go to the store so I mixed green with bleach. When the green washed out I was blonde.(my natural hair color is brown)

Muhahhahahaha!

Thats funny. I love to dye my hair once in a while because well, its not fun to do (just a pain in the ass) but I always get the 3 dollar crap from K-Mart and I do it myself at home. Yup, 19 year old guy doing his hair at home... primarely because I'm bored and that in an area with 6,000 residents there isn't too much to do (northern Wisconsin people! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif)

My hair has been blonde/orange (for a parade I bleached my hair to be Fred from Scooby Doo), red, auborn and light brown, all within shades of each other (nothing too drastic, really.)

I mean, its $3 a box, and it lasts a while and it takes up an hour of your time... what else could one wish for? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Oh, I think black hair dye is nasty. Choose dark brown instead unless your hair is naturally black.

I know a girl that died her hair black, and then put it in dreads... she looks like the guy from POD.
