All I can say is that Sega of America would be quite stupid if they didn't release it in the US. Cause fact is, it would sell more copies than the original PSO.

Hey people, look at my new sig image. Notice anything different. That's right, I downloaded the PSO font from the Japanese PSO site!

I think we'll hear something more towards the end of this month or around the time of E3. Hopefully.

i'm never quite sure what to believe when I hear things like this. since consoles are so fan driven a lot of websites tend to post a lot of rumor. I heard that at first the append disk wasn't coming to the states, then a few days later PlanetDreamcast confirmed that it WAS coming to the states. then I heard some more news saying it would only be in japan and then it would come to the US but not europe.

personally, I think it will come to the states. This game was such a standout success that the numbers people at Sega couldn't possibly find a rational reason not to bring it to the states.

now... is this standalone or is the append disk going to be available in a cheaper version for people already owning the game? I'd hate to have to pay for an all new copy of the game since I've only had PSO for a couple of months. I can't justify dumping another $50 on a game I already have.

The append disk has to be merely an add-on to the game, after all, it is confirmed that your characters you allready have now can be used in V.2. If it was stand-alone, you would need a new ID#, which would mean your current characters are fucked, and this is not the case. I'm sure that the retail for V.2 will be about $20.

Here is the information on v2.0 as I've seen. 1st. it will cost around $40 US if it makes it here(it should)
2nd. I believe that it is an addon, meaning it will just contain the new stuff. However this raises a question, Sega has said that players with v2.0 can play with regular PSO players, how is sega going to handle the new items?
3rd. Access codes will not have to be changed in either case. The serial numbers and access codes are saved server side, along with your dc serial number. As long as you are playing on the same dc you should have no problem playing.(I know this from personal experience)

i'd be willing to bet that 2.0 items will be dealth with as such: they will be usable in 1.0 games but not by users of 1.0 characters. we'll probably end up re-registering our 1.0 characters in 2.0 so that the server recognizes us as 2.0 characters.

If you can play with people in 1.0 game servers, the game will disable the new items and weaponry that you gained it 2.0. PSO version 1 disc's wouldn't know how to handle the data and would crash instantly.

Version 1.0 can't display graphics of the new items. The version 1.0 users would crash horribly when a version 2.0 user equiped their Dreamcast mag or bunny-headed staff.

Version 1.0 can't display graphics of the new costumes available with version 2.0.

Not to mention bug fixes in version 2.0 might cause synchronization problems, especially with the movement bugs.

Version 1.0 won't understand packets sent out from version 2.0 users, so there are only 2 solutions.

1) limit version 2.0 users to the data of version 1.0 when playing on 1.0 servers. Items will still be in inventory, but will not be usable or equipable. Or..

2) pad packets with data that version 1.0 users can understand. For example, version 2.0 users may see that you have your Dreamcast mag equiped, while version 1.0 users just see a baby mag. Version 2.0 users can see the bunny-headed staff while version 1.0 users view just a regular scepter.

My feeling on this is that version 2.0 won't be coming to the states. Although the most hardcare fans would glady pay for the new disc, I'm guessing Sega thinks Americans in general aren't willing to pay for a minor upgrade because we are so greedy. Americans (especially teenagers, sorry http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_frown.gif) want something for nothing!

Yah well us adults are stupid because our brains have been pounded into a gob of mashed potatos from all the shit that we have to put up with =)

FYI Spy you give teens a good rep. no doubt about it. =)

Hehehe if there is one advantage of being an adult is that your mom can't take away your shit, like your Dreamcasts and PSO's and stuff hehe http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif
