I apologize if this has been covered before
(I couldn't find it while searching past posts... maybe I used the wrong words to search)
my friend and I are playing offline, GC, 2-player, collaborative, episode 1. We're in the caves. There are doors with those 4 circle thingies you have to step on to activate. except that they seem to say that 4 people have to stand on them to unlock the doors... there's only 2 of us. is there something we're missing? (other than 2 other players!)

Well, 99/100 times you don't need to go through doors with 4 way switches. Avoid them like the plauge. And that 1 time out 100, there is another way to get to the end of the level so don't worry.

almost all 4-switch doors are detours..
they lead to items or some extra enemies
i always ignore them online, offline too when i'm in a rush http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

i play offline multimode all the time. those doors are detours to extra items and experience. If you dont have 4 people playing, you cant open them. Unlike single player, in multi you have to have one standing on all of them.

I remember playing trough Episode 1 for the first time, when I thought those touch-pads were mines because they were hidden in the water (Caves 2, with the plants) and they were glowing like traps http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

You really don't need more than two people for C-mode, but it is recomended. The thing about C-mode is the challenge, and luck in getting an easy map.

Well, I've just played through caves for the millionth time, though it's only been a few times on my GC (I'd been playing DC before). And those doors that have 4 "locks" on them do NOT lead to simple detours... I've come across at least one where the locked door is the only way through, there is no alternate way. I have no idea what lies on the other side.
When the only way to go on is a 4 switch closed door, then the switches dont need to be pressed all the time, just press them a moment and it's done. If you have to keep them pressed, then it's not the only way or the right way.
Or maybe your Gc is mad about you, and is conspiring to get rid of you, so it's free at last from your tiranic domination X_X (I need to get some extra sleep...)
