Worried about the RANK:1 hack users. A dilemma...

Do I report these little shits to Sega or not? The trouble is, EVERYONE using the RANK:1 code is also using the E code, and I don't want to alert Sega about the E code. What's worrying me, is this hack might just change their rank in the Famitsu Cup tourney. If they've sussed that too, and end up with Sega cup:1, it doesn't matter HOW much tourneying we do all day, we won't be able to get in the top rank, because I'm sure there must be more than 16 of these dipshits with RANK:1. Everyone I've talked to has seen them, and not the same person as the Mussolini guy. It's pissing me off, because even though meseta is server side, somebody's obviously found a hack to bypass the tag that the server gives you as you log on. How long will it be before they find out how to make themselves KING:1? And how to win in official tourneys, doing nothing at all?

Sappharad, do you know where this code is coming from, and who these little fucks are? Need we worry about the Sega cup and future events?

interesting question would be, how exactly does this code work. does it just overwrite the 'above-head'-rank? or is it also affecting the server side ranks.

A good way to test would be to have someone that's NOT a Rank to log on and see if they are still King or Lord or what have you... Of course, they'd have to find the code first.

ive seen more than one god. ive seen 2 people side by side with GOD status. Ummmmm about 1 rank in my opinion i think is stupid code that only show 1 RANK on your head but real stat are server saved so on server he is 9878987:RANK but with this code he has 1 RANK on his head. God, I believe, is the top 1% of current total players, so there would be able to be more than 1 God... Saw a couple shots on the Visual BBS with a few Gods standing around on first day it opened.

Well you can try reporting these people. It's kind of unfortunate the E users might be under threat too but maybe they can use the original english code until this blows over?

I think it's highly likely though that ST won't do anything. They never do.

I suppose the one good thing about them at the moment is you can spot them a mile off and so you know not to play with them.

You dont know if its a code or hacking. It could be either and I would think hacking more.

Also it doesnt harm anything yet. Rank 1 who cares. Everyone knows they cheated to get it and didnt earn it. As long as it doesnt affect the actual gameplay I wouldnt get worried yet.

I could do a lot more than that but I wont because I like playing it legit. Its fun. Also im not going to ruin it for everyone.

You are forgetting a 0. GOD is something near to 0,1 %. Going nearer, around 0,12%.
KING around 1.9% less 0,12% of GODs. LORD around 10% less king and gods. The others I haven't looked much.

Nope. Whoever made it has not released the code anywhere, so I cant really find it, or who made it.

I suggest reporting it. I dont even think it's a good idea to use the other English code online anyway.

Question. If I report this to Sega, am I right in assuming that if they respond by patching the English support too, then our code won't work (at least until they release the US version, because I'm assuming then English will work). If they disable English till English release, which I'm assuming is easiest for them, then this will inconvenience people. Of course they could just run code to detect the E code and ban people, but I'm assuming they MAY just patch English support for now. I don't know. Any ideas?

I now know that both codes are different, but disabling English will take them both out, right? A blanket sort of thing. Another question. Can you make people stop using this stupid code, by adding an extra one to yours that puts card names in English? Or is that tied in somehow to the E on your name?

Warning to everyone, I am on the verge of reporting this RANK:1 thing. Because I think it's just a matter of time before somebody figures out GOD:1. And that pisses me off, sorry to be a dog in a manger, but I worked hard to GET into that manger. Yes I speak fluent Japanese, and have got people banned before. So from now on if you want to be safe, DO NOT USE THE RETARDED E CODE. Use Sappharad's original. And take like 3 days out to learn katakana, the abbreviations on the JP cards are less verbose and easier to understand anyway.

Not really in the manger (I'm barely out of Rank now that I haven't played for a while) but this is pure and simple cheating, or a start at it, and I will not tolerate it. It depends on how they would go about blocking it. For them, the easiest way would be to check the game version and language setting on connecting to the server. (This information is aparently sent every time you connect, along with your serial/access, so the server knows which welcome message you should see) If they blocked it that way, no, my code would not be affected.

The other way to block it, is to check part of the memory for either the leftovers of the AR (I dont even know myself where that goes) or check for the modifications the code makes. If they'd check for the AR, yes, it'd block my code out. If they're just checking for the other code, then mine would be fine once again.

No, I cant make my code translate card names. They happen to be stored along with the Japanese names. Everything else I changed happened to be separate for each language, which is why I could pull it off.

So go ahead and report it, but I doubt ST will do anything about it. If they manage to block my code in the process, I could probably get around it, but it might not be a good idea to do so depending on how they would block it.

So everybody, if you see a RANK:1 user, pm me their name, and what ship you saw them on. I'll do my best to keep a look out for them. If they then appear as GOD:1, Sega get the email.

Actually, I have a feeling they would, especially if it were to affect their Famitsu contest. Investors don't like that kind of thing interfering with one of their promotions, it's bad publicity. And Sega would hardly lose market share for banning cheating people that *should not* have the game yet anyway.

I think the change of rank is based on meseta.
Back in the beginning when you had rank 700 or so and you were a Lord, but now people over 1200 get Lord.
I also found it very fun that after 50,000 meseta I got the Lord status. Too much coincidence if you ask me. I forgot to check what it was for Champ(was around 25-30k meseta or something) or Master/Senior, but I will keep my eyes peeled for when I hit King (if that is another nice round number then it wouldn't be a coincidence I think). I also think God is not affected by this "meseta rule" I made up. Because all Gods I have seen are Rank 10 or lower. The first rank I saw was after that was Rank 12 and he was King (while we have over 12,000 users so that 0,1%=God rule wouldn't hold then). So I think to be God you must be in the Top 10 or else you won't get the rank.

As for what was said on the page, people were surmising that the rank was from an ST employee, during the Famitsu Cup, and things like that. Someone finally said cheat, and called the cheater a Gaijin, which is a very rude name for a foreign person. The next person, nameless on the forum, corrected that person by tossing in "koku" making the word Gaikokujin, which is perfectly acceptable.
