I've tried searching the net for a GC keyboard, but can't seem to find any official information... do they still exist?
I think I saw a keyboard-controller combination, but it seemed terribly overpriced (I think it was quite a bit over $100).
Is there some way of connecting a regular computer kb to a GC?

A quick Google search produced this:

http://www.goldenshop.com.hk/AI-trad/gc/keyjoyconv.htm

That should work.

Also, I recall seeing a converter for the GC that allows you to use all sorts of controllers, including Dreamcast controllers. Theoretically, you could use a DC keyboard (which I would do, but I can't get online with this firewalled T-1!)

Hope that helps.

Consider running a Proxy server program, and using your computer as a Gateway for your GameCube. You may be able to work something out with your sysadmin.

It is quite small. You'll have to break in into it before you can type like a normal person. Hehe

Or, if you're going for a cheap keyboard you could always just get a powerboard (http://us.codejunkies.com/shop/product.asp?c=US&cr=USD&cs=$&r=0&l=1&ProdID=167&CountryID=US).

Playing online without a keyboard is kind of akward. People say things too you and by the time you pound something out on the in game keyboard the people have already moved on to another topic, its pretty annoying.

One word to describe using the software keyboard online: Hell. You'll definately want to get a keyboard to use if you're going to play online.

soon, soon...
I bought a Gamecube to play PSO (I was on Dreamcast before),
I just got my broadband adapter this week,
I ordered PSO for GC which should be arriving any day now,
and I'm off to buy a GC keyboard (I finally found a place in Montreal that sells them cheap)...

So you guys should be bumping into me any day now!!!!!

argh!
I'm so impatient!

ooo!
I just beat the mines' boss on my DC.
he was a LOT easier than the cave boss!
and I'm now level 31 on the DC.
been playing 90 hours.

I got a fairly inexpensive keyboard called powerboard something and it was 25. I was not interested in some $80. jobbie that the guy at FuncoLand was trying to talk me into and found one online somewhere for way less. Online play is easier with the keyboard because it just takes so long to type with the controller thing. And like the other poster said... by the time you get your response typed out everyone is on to another bit of conversation. Not that I talk all that much anyways (coughs).

Playasia.com sells the keyboard/controller combo mentioned earlier for about 70 bucks. They also sell an adapter for about 18 bucks that will allow you to conect any keyboard that has a PS/2 type connector, (which is a round-end connector...your computer keyboard is probably either a USB connection (flat end), or a PS/2 type connection (round end). In this case, PS/2 does NOT stand for Playstation 2. This adapter is what I currently use with a keyboard from an old sony computer. It works well, however some of the symbols do not come out the same. Still, all the normal characters come out and the shortcuts work too.
