Hiya. I need help convinsing parents about PSO.

Hiya.

I'm new, and I have been a PSO fan since I heard about it, but I was afraid to admit it to the Final Fantasy fans.

Anyways, I really want to play PSO, but my parents are wary about letting me online, to do gaming with others.

So, could anyone please answer my questions?

1) How much does it cost to play?
2) Are there any nice players out there? Ones that won't backstab you?
3) Is a keyboard absolutley required?
4) Any thing important I should know?

Thanks, and when I do get online someday (Maybe in May), I'll be there to help out others and be kind to them (It's something I really wanna do, help others out).

2) There are plenty of nice people online. Come to Puck Blk 9 and you can meet all the nice people on this board.

3) It's not abolutely required. But it takes away almost all the fun of playing online without it. So I say keyboard is a must. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif

4) To help convince your parents, you can tell them that Sega has a swearing-block. There is no cursing online. Also, you can tell parents you can meet other people around the world on PSO. People in Europe, in Japan, in Hong Kong.

Hello,

1) Obviously you need a DC, internet connection, a copy of the game itself, and at least 2 vmus (if you want to create several characters. Get the Official Sega 4x vmu (around $29.99) if you need to buy one. No fees are required to play the game.
2) Lotta nice people yes, but also quite a few, how shall I put it, less than pleasant people (just like in life). Most of the folks here on PSO W are really nice and will help you out. Read their posts to get a feel as to what they are like.
3) No, not required, but highly recommended as it makes typing messages much faster and easier than the ?soft? keyboard.

Hi, well i am about 36 (kinda depressing, just wait and see!) anyway, i play with my 3 boys. we have to play for about 1 to 1 1/2 a piece on weekends. We sit there and help type for each other and just give general advise...(uhh behind you or you better cast resta...so on and so forth...) anyway, its a fun game. its not like you will be online chatting because most all people online in this forum just want to play. i play with a guy from Taiwan and he has been a trusted player from day one. I have played with someone who now lives like 3 blocks from where i grew up (chicago) i live near Los Angeles now. An ISP does cost a few dollars.. (i use Sega NEt..21.00 a month..(a good price, I think) its a local call so no major long distance toll charges apply. a keyboard helps but if you spend the time before hand and set up your controller with most of the basic commands you cn get by....but it helps..
yes there are nice players out there, but there are those out to steal from you and other nasty mean things that people will do online...but if you stick with us here from this board...if your low level, i will take you to the highest level you can go and will help you level up as will most people here.
What should you know...hmmm if you have a rare item don;t use online until you know you can trust those that you are playing with. Watch what you get as gifts from other..hacked or duped items. but overall, it is an enjoyable entertainment. if your parents need more info...heck I am a kid at heart but with 3 boys, sometimes you need to be a parent all the time. have fun!

Don't worry, I think my parents already know how addicttive some games can get.

Anyways, I talked to my dad, and he said 'Wait for tomorrow, then we'll talk'. He didn't say no, and he asked 'Does it cost alot?' I told him that playing PSO is free, but you still gotta pay for ISP charges. Well, that's good.

Well, I shall stop boring you. I must go and write PSO fiction now... ehh... I've researched the game, so I know a little bit about it.

I can tell you that online gaming is very addicting, since I started in Asheron's Call, and now am completely hooked on PSO.

the folks I play with are all long time online friends of mine and are very nice people.
