Hi

I just started playing PSO recently, and after having leveled several chars to around 40, I'm starting to have trouble deciding which I want to concentrate on.

I was hoping that perhaps someone here could offer me some guidance as to which path would be most appropriate for me.

-I'd like to play a male character, simple because I'm male. Admitedly, It's not a requirement, as much as a strong request.

-I'd like to be a "Jack of all trades" I'd like to be able to cast fairly well, and shoot. Melee is important.

-I prefer melee. I like getting up close and personal.

-I want to be able to use cool rare weapons, like my stag cutlery and delsaber set, but still want to be powerful.

-I'd to be able to Defeat Dark Falz at lvl 53 (My best, a lvl 53 HUmar, with Del Saber set can't do it, not sure why.)

Basically, that's it. Anybody got some suggestions? I think this might fit a HUnewearl. Not to mention the fact that they have Shifta and Deband. Stuff I can't get with my Humar.

I dunno.

It's why I'm asking for help.

I'd really like to play a Force, for the cool high level spells. But I hear their high level rare weapons mostly suck...

Oh well.

I'll leave this to Veterans! ^_^

FOmar sounds like it would fit pretty well. They can cast techs, and have good ATP. You could play as just a tech casting force with a if you wanted, or you could also go melee. They can use a lot of different weapons, and not all of the high level weapons they can use are bad. They are also pretty fun to play.

guns are your friends http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

and based on your description... your character dosent exist,

Fomar is about as close as you'll get if you play a male, and ether Ramarl, for Hunewearl if you dont play male, those are "jack of all trades" chars IMO

You sure have lost of requirement.
And to agree with everyone else, FOmar is the cloest that you can get. But then guns won't be too nice for them since their ATA is abysmal. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

... But, if you don't limit yourself to males. RAmarl is your jack of all trades, with guns and can melee quite a fair bit (excellent evade!).

If you still insist of males. Well. FOmar is your best bet. :/

I set unrealistic requirements purposefully so that I could be pointed to the nearest requirement.

It think I'll go ahead and try out RAmarl. She's actually the one class I've never tried.

Okey Day.

No,
Saying HUmars are good for nOObs is for nOObs. There are some decent HUmar players out there, you know. Not every HUmar is a noob.

What!? Only one Humar can cast S/D and its an old dead man!?

>>; Im sticking with Foneweal now!

ON topic however, a Fomar with an Dex/Pow High Mag will really work well! Strong and can actually hit!
Prehaps a Frame with slots being used for Elf/Arm and Ogre/Power and Crap. Plus the Force ability is also good for Techs.

Hah! With Some Tweaking the Fomar can act almost as good as a Humar!

My HUmar's just the inverse! My mag's got 59 DEX and 131 MST! Makes it kinda tricky to play, I'm not able to equip stronger weapons so early as I would had I raised a power Mag. So I've gotta mix it up with Techniques and use a lot of strategy. Gibarta saves my skin many a time.

I would definately go for a HUnewearl, preferably Skyly or Redria - I didn't regard them highly previously, as I much preferred accuracy to power or techs, which is why i liked HUcaseal so much. However, after finding that i could get into ultimate, from scratch, by level 55, i was pretty chuffed! Skyly I know for certain can find heaps of god/arms and god/HPs if you look in the right places, and used with a decent 4-slotted armour, can help amazingly. Also, shifta and deband, once they get powerful enough, are a godsend - Kaori, my hunewearl, gains about 130 DEF when i cast deband, which will almost guarantee you kicking Falz's ass...They look pretty neat as well http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif much more pleasant on the eyes than a chunky HUcast, regardless of their superior power.

I'm torn between Me newly Mind Mag boosted HUmar, HU... um... HU... Newman Female character... and my new FOmar. I like my FOmar alot The spells are amazing, and the variety of them. They make up for lack of cool weapons like Partisan. (really wish I could use a Partisan). I struggle with maintaining TP though. I burn through fluids uber fast, even thought I have a 268 thanks to my mag... A TP/Restorate is my only saving grace. Anyone know a way to get around the whole quick loss of TP? Anyway... I don't like RAmarl. Don't know why...

Well...

If I can find a way around the whole TP draining thing, I think FOmar is my new class choice. If I can't, I'm gonna play a HU... female newman char.

Want to use a partisan with a FOmar? Luckily they can use the Soul eater:
http://www.pso-world.com/items.php?op=viewarticle&artid=68&sortby=class

The soul eater is a scythe that is anoying to get your hands on, as it involves completing lots of quests. However, if you're willing to go for it, as it's not hard, it justs takes a while. These are the instruction to get it (course you might know all this already....):

If you can't be bothered with the Soul eater, but you like challenge mode, complete offline challenge mode and get the chameleon scythe:

Try using a weapon with the special attack that drains TP from the enemy, that will help to restore your TP. Otherwise, Forces in General blow through TP quick if you using alot of Techs, Though it is not so bad with Newmans since they have huge amounts of TP and that makes Trifluids more efficient. If you can't take blowing through TP quickly, then don't use techs because you will have the same problem with the HUnewearl

This is to all newbs, not just the slime guy. Overall I've found that in the long run forces are the best. You should raise a mag with high mind. Specifically, FOmars can really be a solid balanced character when you give him a good boost with the mag. FOnewearls are incredibly good, except for her power can only be seen under a microscope. My little PSO offline group has found that hunters are the second best. HUcast has great power, defense, and HP, but a lack of spells (namely Resta) can be irritating, especially on quests like Unsealed door. Uuugh, Mome. *shudder* HUmars have pretty decent power and limited spells, but limited is enough. I know a lot of people like rangers, and don't let me discourage anybody, (Don't get me wrong, rangers don't suck.) I have a ranger. Bazookas baby, it's all about the heavy artillery. Anyway if a new player happens to read this, I hope this helps. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

playing as a ranger is certainly NOT abaout the heavy artillery...

the "heavy" artillery in this game sucks. its slow and weak from say vh forest upwards. its abotu a decent pair of high hit% (charge)vulcans, and this goes for hunters as well.

as for the original guy, well a fomar seems to be good. to avoid excess tp drainage, learn to ration technique use and also learn enemy technique weaknesses. if you can kill say a booma with a foie and a normal attack, dont use 2 foie's. also, if you are running out of cash, try using the medical centre. sure its a long walk but its only 10 meseta.

and i have a ramarl un into the 120's and i have to say she does indeed rock. she has the techniques to make life extremely easy(s/d,j/z,rabarta.resta) and she is both accurate and powerful enough to take down enemies easily. so there ya go lol.

FOmar....thats all

I've been playing with new chars of both for a while, albeit mostly as the my FOmar, Cor, and I'm slowing becoming torn again.

The lack of armor and the ability to use cool weapons kinda makes the FOmar unappealing.

I realise it's lower levels, but still...

Top think one day I may get a Red Partisan, or a Lavis Cannon, or even a and never use it makes me sad =(

I'm tring to train them both at the same time... But the decreased pace perturbs me.

Oh well.

I think Cor and Macellarius will just have to deal with it http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif
