After the disaster that came from the Version 2 trial server, I am less convinced that they will make an online trial >_<
However, an offline trial at least sounds quite likely.

Disaster for whom? Sonic Team? Perhaps. For cheapskate gamers? Nope http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

there were patches to make the full version connect to the trial server, thus free online play for the full version, and yeah id probably get it just for fun

Well, from what I've heard PSO Episode 1 and 2 will feature server-side saving of characters, so you couldn't really cheat and try to get the game for free.

it was before you log on that you do it, it edited the PSO login to set it to goto the trial server instead of the full version server

If there IS serverside saving of characters then that means that your character is stored online on the servers am I right? which means you CAN'T access your character to play "offline", unless you can have characters just for offline mode in which you can't take online.

No,your character data is not saved on the server...that would be saving your character on Sonic Team...doing that you would'nt be able to replay as your character,I just know it isnt character data that saves like that.I believe it works as the GC does...I think...

Most people who play PC games prefer online PC games anyways, so offline isn't really a big loss. If you REALLY want to play by yourself, just create a server with a password, no big deal.
Though you might get a wider ranger of players on the PC, the hacking that would take place will be unbelieavble. Anyone here ever heard of Broomop? He has a ton of hacks out, most of them are pretty lame, but they are much easier to create on the PC then on X-Box/GC.
I would enjoy a PC version of the game myself.
