Look, I hate cheaters and thieves as much as the next guy. Probably more than the next guy. But I sort of look at the situation like this:

Think about RPGs. Or fantasy novels. Or anything sci-fi. In anything remotely related to the genre of PSO, you always have rogues. You'll always find thieves, black market traders, shifty characters. They add to the atmosphere.

I mean, am I the only one who thinks it's kind of interesting that there are thieves' guilds? Am I the only one that thinks its kind of funny someone using a game shark can go behind the desk in the lobby, pretend to be a non-playable character, and say to a newbie: "Welcome to Cordelia 03. Would you like some tacos before you start your game?"

To me, stuff like that adds something to the game. Look, I can't STAND having something stolen. I never trade, because I consider it a lost cause. But I think it's kind of funny that a kid used an ice spell on me in the lobby once.

Look, if there weren't supposed to be thieves, Sonic Team wouldn't have designed it so you drop your weapon when you die. If there weren't supposed to be thieves, there would be a more reliable trade system set up.

I mean, come on. Even Han Solo was a smuggler. You NEED bad guys in a game so sorely lacking in story. I may hate thieves and cheaters, but I also believe they serve a purpose.

HUmar, Oran, Lv 100. In one week lost an Oriagito, Last Survivor, and a Brave Knuckle. Damn thieving bastards.

You're trying to make thieves look good. They aren't, and they don't add any extra atmosphere or whatever. They just add another pain in the ass.

I wouldn't say that I'm trying to make them look good. I'm just saying it's not as horrible a thing as most people make it out to be.

As far as online games go, PSO is pretty tame in the department of thieves. In PC online RPGs, PK'ing is usually legal. Being a newbie in Ultima or Graal is downright fatal. In PSO thieves and cheaters are more a nuisance than anything else.

I'm not saying love thieves and cheats. And they definitely are a pain in the ass. I'm just saying people are a little overzealous about their hatred of them, and definitely let them get on their nerves more than they should.

i kinda think theiving does add to the atmosphere. In games like Asherons Call once you die your stuff is up for loot. It kinda adds to atmosphere

Thieves do add to the atmosphere of PSO, but they are not scum. Do-gooders are the real scum of PSO. loud-mouthed heroes and pathetic vigilantes are the people that ruin games by complaining about the aspects of the game that they don't like, or talking about thieves like they are scum. Don't judge a thieves until you have been both the victim AND the thief. Once you do that, you put some facts behind you arguements rather than using childish profanities and insults to make yourself look like a dumbass. If you want to fight do-gooders, then contact me at cbwing0@hotmail.com to join the original Thieves' Guild of PSO.
