I wasnt able to sleep for a whole week with my first wisdom tooth out.

True story.

Then I took my second one out a year later. It barely hurt on the second day.

I had to have 8 teeth removed... When they were baby teeth it really didn't matter, because I knew that I would eventually have them replaced.

But lucky me, they had to pull 4 more teeth once they were "grown-up" from the same places the baby teeth were pulled.

Then, one of the teeth was not coming down, so they had to cut open my gum and put a temporary brace on it to slowly bring it down.

As for my wisdom teeth, I really hope I was born without them... Or else surgery will commence once again http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

I got all four of my wisdom teeth out at once. I went under general anesthetic because I was too scared to have local anesthetic.

Really, recovering from the anesthesia was the worst part, since I was very groggy for many hours. But the rest wasn't so bad. By the next day, I was feeling good enough to have a friend over; I was a little tired from the prescription painkiller, but within a few days I was able to go off of those.

However, I lucked out, and my teeth were what the guy kept calling "poppies" (meaning they could just be popped out easily). My sister's were impacted, and she had to go through a longer recovery period.

holy shit i just got mine out on the 18th! it hurts like CRAZY for the first day you get them out. My mom told me I was turning pale and she was getting a bit scared I checked in the mirror and yep I was getting pale. It hurt alot! the numbing helps at first like for about 3 hours then the pain gets bad. Take some tylenol as soon as you start to feel some pain because it hurt like crazy. I was walking around the house just wishing I could die...Then the next day it hurt ALOT less. It still hurt but just more of an annoyance. I went to a friends house that day and played some halo, ffcc and nightfire i did actually ok for the pain. Also wear a icepack (they gave me one) and just leave it on for a while (they said 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off). And what sucks ALOT is that I had alot of blood coming from my mouth the first day. I swallowed some of it which I couldn't help because my mouth was bleeding so much. I went to the bathroom about every 2-5 minutes to spit blood out. And it sucks cause I was told not to brush my teeth. Plus stay away from hard foods for atleast 5 days. I tried some on saturday and eating hurt. Just eat like pudding, jello, apple sauce really soft stuff. It was said 2 weeks to recover but its today and I can eat harder foods (pretzels etc) with little pain and on the night or like 3 hours after your surgery try laying down and going to bed. I managed to fall asleep in around 75 minutes. This is pretty much for all I want to remember I might edit this though to add more crap to it.

Saiffwin and Answer man, you guys are just a bear claw short of a box of doughnuts aren't you?

Back on topic, as if there really is ever a steady topic in FKL, I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth out at once. They were all impacted (meaning that they had to cut deep holes in my gums to get them out) and I was put to sleep for the surgery. After the 30 minute surgery I went home and was fully ungroggy (is that even a word?) within an hour. Past that the only problems I had were the balls of gauze that I had to put in the holes in my gums to keep from drowning in my own blood, some vicadin that the surgeon gave me (it relieve the pain, but I hate the stuff so after a few hours I switched to advil). A few days later I was eating normal food and I never had much swelling. So I was pretty well off, I've heard of people vomiting for an hour or two due to a rection to the anesthesia and others whose faces swelled to ballon size.

Technically a bearclaw isn't a donut.

So, perhaps a bearclaw short of a box of pastries would be more accurate, but alas it wasn't meant to be.

..........I guess even mods go crazy sometimes.......
But that is far beyond the parameters that encompass crazy, that moves into the realm of psychosis.

wtf? I never knew you had to have surgery to remove your wisdom teeth... what are you all talking about?

Do you normaly just have a baby crock grab a hold and pull?

Amiadon
Feb 24, 2004, 12:53 AM
Ha, that's bloody hilarious.

What I meant was, I never thought wisdom teeth had to be removed. I have personally never heard of having people scalpel into your mouth on your 18th birthday, and plan not to personally experience this.

I still have no idea why you go get them removed though.

geewj
Feb 24, 2004, 12:58 AM
Because mosts peoples jaws aren't large enough to fit all of their teeth. The wisdom teeth don't come in until later in life and when they do, there might not be room so all your teeth get shived aroiound trying to make room and it really hurts (the worst pain I've ever felt. Couldnt fall asleep for 4 straight days cause it hurt so bad). Not everyone has to get them taken out because there is either room for them on their jaw so it doesn't hurt or they never even come in. The ajority of people do get them out though.

Amiadon

Ahh, 0k i see. Well, you learn something new every day.

My teeth are perfect though, as am I, so i don't need to worry.

geewj
Feb 24, 2004, 01:04 AM
It has nothing to do with the condition of your teeth. Unless you have a rather large jaw, then it's probably gonna hurt when they start to come in.

Amiadon
Feb 24, 2004, 01:07 AM
It's not the pain I'm worried about, It's the surgery. I don't get along with people who want to use a sharp knife to cut into my body and take things. Not at all.

_Ted_
Feb 24, 2004, 01:21 AM
Do they use crocidile's teeth as scalpels in Australia?

Don't worry about the whole stabbing you with a scalpel thing. You would either be drugged to point that you could feel nothing or you would be put to sleep. When I had my teeth take out, I went to sleep, woke up and they were gone. The only thing I had a problem with was the deep holes they cut into my gums which gushed blood for hours on end.

Amiadon
Feb 24, 2004, 03:53 AM
Blood isn't a problem, just the fact that a possible psychopath could butcher me and my teeth at will.

(Crocodile remark)

Well, of course Ted. We also have no phones, internet, or communication of any type, live in caves, and go tribal hunting on weekends. We also wear loincloths and primitive clothing, and Steve Irwin is our president.

wow! first, I'm getting laughing gas, second, my teeth ARE impacted. yay. This whole bleeding eternally is kind of disturbing, I'm worried now. On the plus side, though, I get to play PSO. All. Day. Long. YAY.
