Anybody get that freebie when they preordered PSO from Sega?

I read on Sega's website back in January that if I preordered PSO I'd get a promotional item. I have never received it and now Sega reps tell me they never heard of that offer.

So...
1) Do any of you remember that there was a preorder promotional item?
2) Did any of you receive it?
3) What the heck was it!?!

Well, in Japan, when they preordered it from sega, you got one of (12, I think) different kinds of dogtags, each with a different section ID on it. Maybe they were going to do the same with PSO here, but decided not to in the end.

well I ordered 3 'preorders' through sega-

JGR- supposed to get music sample cd
never got it, they said ship when they could, finally I gave up harrassing them. Finally found said CD in Circuit City and bought it for a penny (it was promotional and I was buying another game, lucked out)

Shenmue - supposed to get limited edtion CD, but even though the web still showed pre-order, by the date ordered it really wasn't.. supposedly anyways. I heard it was mosty a crap extra anyways so I didn't push it.

PSO - I saw it for $39.99 and snagged it. However they dropped the free shipping, so it went to $44.99.. still a nice deal. The $10 off went away shortly afterwards, so maybe that was the 'bonus' you're trying to recollect?

i'm not positive on this, but I read somewhere (planetdreamcast maybe) that Sega signed a development deal with Microsoft to do X Box. whether that's an exclusive deal or not is unknown to me but that would be cool since that's the next deck I'm going to buy. Screw pokecube and playstation2.

I've seen on ebay a phantasy star art book. could that have been the promo item?

To the gent who posted earlier, no, it wasn't a discount that I remember seeing. It was definately a promo item. I vaguely remember it being an art book. Man! It's no wonder Sega is hemmoraging money. Their Sega Store is run by blind, idiot monkeys... I once ordered Space Channel 5 thru them. I didn't get my sound track, so I called. They still didn't send it, so I called again. Then I got another copy of Space Channel 5 in the mail. LOL. FINALLY, my "soundtrack" arrived. Geez, it was some dance albulm with a picture of Ulala on it. Meanwhile, everytime I call Sega, they taunt me with the Japanese SC5 soundtrack in the background while I wait for a rep to answer...

first off never support nintendo!! they are the devil, its like microsoft, out for the money not the fun ofr the game, obviously cuz they stick to all of their franchises, and make them practically the same and dont risk anything, spend a lot of money on advertisement. anyways haha yeah im sure sonic will come out for ps2 from now on sega has allied with microsoft ::shudder:: and sony ::grin:: and ::shudder:: nintendo. and anyways the bonus you are all talking about was only in japan and it wasnt sega's website that was talkinga bout it you got confused it was other websites and they specifically said that they were only gonna do it in japan to their knowledge. dont worry about it, they have to pay for the service, thats the price of getting some stupid dog tag, we dont have to pay for using the service jus our isp and free isps work with it, be greateful with what you got not sour of what you dont.

No, I specifically read that there was a preorder item. Otherwise, I wouldn't have paid for the shipping to get the item from Sega. I would just have bought it locally. I was also told by several Sega reps that I would indeed get the pre-order item. Mention of the pre-order item disappeared on January 31st... Now they tell me I imagined it. Grrrr...
