just gotta get this out of me. I took a long time on friday to open up all the levels of the game in single player so that I could just scour the ruins online and find the good stuff. This was a fruitless endeavor.
I'm level 77 now and I have very little in the way of rare stuff. Everyone else I run into has power gear, Lavis Cannon, Punisher, Spread needle... you get the picture. Know what I have? Meteor Smash!! Meteor Smash!!!! I find these damn things by the dozens when I go into the ruins. Last night I went down into ruins 3 and picked up ten SPECIAL WEAPON items, when I had them inspected I wound up with two Blade Dances, a Club of Laconium and SEVEN M&A60 Vise's. I'm ready to kill someone! When the hell do I get to find the power gear that everyone else has? What the hell is wrong with me? My luck rating is 50!
Then to make matters worse, I sat back in my chair and wound up pulling the cord out of the back of the DC deck causing it to shut down. When I logged back on I found that everything in my inventory that wasn't equipped was gone. My P Arms Blade, My C Bringer Rifle, my brand new mag that I slaved over for days (giving it Star Atomizers exclusively) and ALL my money (I was in a shop when this happened).
So now I'm leveling up way too fast (i really don't want to max my character out, I really like him) and I have nothing weapons wise to show for it!
For God's Sake!! When the hell do I get to find the good stuf?!?!?!

Meteor Smash is a good weapon; since you've found so many I presume you've got good photon bonuses on them.
For sheer hitting power, try a Charge shotgun type weapon. Look out for them in the weapons shop and/or play in V-Hard Caves or below (otherwise, you'll only get Crush Bullets and Meteor Smashs from shotgun drops). Sure, it's not "rare", but it'll outperform rares...

Don't feel so bad about not finding "Mega Rares" like the Lavis, Heavens, etc. Not everyone who plays finds them. I've started playing again from Easter week to see if I could get some of them, but I haven't. However I'm more than happy with what I've found, which is very similar with the collection you mentioned losing:

S-Beat Blades

Sacred Guard

Secret Gear

Hero/Ability

common weapons with high specials, like Burning Laser and Chaos Diska

lots of materials
My luck rating is in the 80's (primarily due to the Materials), and that's all I've found. Also, Luck has no bearing on what rares you find, just Critical Hits.
As for your lost stuff... yeah, that really sucks. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_frown.gif
If you need someone to help you out in the ruins, I'll help.

arrr... just needed to get that off my chest.
I realize the meteor smash is a good gun. It's really helped me out in the past and it's a big help when a playing a very hard game with 4 players in the ruins. Mobs of monsters become a lot easier to deal with when you can slow them all down with one shot. My only problem with the MS is that I've had it for a very long time and it's been a mainstay of my character for so long. I just want something new and impressive. I feel like I'm missing out as everyone who I game with has uber-rare weapons.
I feel bad for some of the people I played with last night. After identifying 10 SPEC WEAPONS and getting nothing cool I had a minor meltdown and began ranting and raving like a lunatic. There was a little girl hunter character with an Inferno Bazooka, my friend with his Lavis Cannon and another character with a Spread Needle and I think the rarest weapon I have is a Supressed Gun at this point. I used to have some decent stuff too but I either traded it away in my lower levels because I couldn't use it or it got lost last night... I'm just VERY frustrated with this game.

I've found lately that the semi-rares are more fun to play with. The only times I use my spread anymore are quick falz whomping, and offline for quick room clearing. I've also started picking up elemential weapons of the top rank, such as ???? Raygun and ???? Gladius. Those are much more flexible than any special, since they have such a wide range of effects.
Don't worry none about having no super-rares. And if you really really want some, go get that 'easter' quest. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_wink.gif

Sorry you lost your stuff. But Pan Arm Blades and C-Bringer?s Rifle are pretty good stuff (I?m assuming you found it) and nothing to sneeze at. 450 hours (3 characters) and I still haven?t found these 2 items. Try making and using different characters. Ummm...... there is no where as the really good specials can appear anywhere, but section ids, the section Id of whoever creates the game, and real luck all play a part (and possibly some other factors that I neglect to mention).

actually, the Pan Arms Blades were given to me by someone who had an extra set(!). I did manage to find the C Bringer Arm, though. A delsaber dropped it, I don't know how it worked out like that but it did. I loved that gun. The special shot cuts enemy hit points down to 1/4, it helped out a lot. I could drop a Dark Belra in three shots.
my frustration stemmed from not finding something high profile. I've since dealt with the frustration, but the amount of lame special weapons in the ruins is still pretty ridiculous. How rare can a crush bullet be if I find a dozen of them in one run?

"How rare can a Crush Bullet be if I find three of them in one run?"
I don't think that the Crush, Varista, etc are meant to be rare. They're just named versions of the standard weapon progression. The only thing making them stand out is the weapon color shifting between two. That's why I tend to refer to them as 'semi-rare', rather than the truly rare, such as the top level of the standard stuff (Durandal, Gae Bolg) and the uniquely modeled weapons (Double saber, etc)

Well if its any consolation the super-rares are pretty much worthless anyway.
Experienced players know the best of all classes are the charge/spirit/berzerk class weapons.
You can find a charge spread with 50% dark at the shops that easily out performs the heavin punisher's and spread needles. You can expect about 800 pts of damage with for the critical hits or around 550 for a regular hit.
Personally I use a charge breaker with 40% dark and its funny to see people's jaw hits the floor when they see that 4-digit damage applied to ALL the baddies =) I am instantly accuse me of cheating or they question the validity of applying 1100 pts of damage per baddie. Thats when I whip out the DB'S SABER and show them what 1600-1700 pts of damage per attack can do to a Dark Belra! =)
Anyway...
I started a new character and beat the game in offline in v-hard at level 47, and I found more DB'S sabers than you can shake a stick at. It reminded me of the way it used to be when my main character was at a low level. You tend to find more of the junk that everyone talks about. DB'S SABERS, VARISTA, etc...
So I think the closer you get to 100, the better your chances of finding the rares become, and I think you'll get a greater variety of the semi-rare weapons.
Another thing to remember is that almost all of the uber-rares you see are duped. With the exception of the spread needle (people HAVE been finding these on their own), things like HEAVIN PUNISHER, OPA OPA, and EGG BLASTER are either hacked or duped. I suspect less than 1% of them are legit!

Stop worrying about the pursuit of all these stupid rares and super-rares already!!!You're ruining the joys of the game for yourself. They're all pretty useless unless you've got the basic character well built and leveled anyway.A super-rare will not make your character a god.

Rares might not be the best weapons around, but... some of them are just so frigging cool! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_razz.gif
And finding one... wow. When that Garanz dropped a ?SPECIAL WEAPON in hard offline, I figured it was just a semi-rare. Imagine my surprise (and delight) when I equipped it... and it was a Photon Claw! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_biggrin.gif
I almost never use the Claw... or my Delsaber's Buster, which I found the arm for in hard offline... (odd that I have better luck in hard than vhard!) Both tend to get my character killed, but there's just something about finding rares.
Oh, and by the way... what IS a suppressed gun, anyway? I found one with my hunter, but she can't equip it so I have no idea what it is. The item description is rather general...
[Edit: The smilies here are weird. Since when did a > and a ) make a wink?]

A supressed gun is just a normal gun but strong. It has no special which is very dissapointing.

Just a quick side note, your luck has nothing to do with finding items! Luck is for critical hit, so the higher it is, the better your chances for a critical. I posted earlier that I got the P-arms and s-beat for a varista?! But like I said in the post the guy was a ranger.
Just a quick tip, hon. You can equip 'special' weapons, even before they're identified (as long as your character can equip it that is), so you can check and ditch Vartias and DB sabers and such without carting them around and getting your hopes up.
Personally I've seen so many DB sabers and Clubs of Laconium that I recognize the stats now. Since I can't equip clubs of lacinium to check in advance, it helps. Shir can't equip Visks or shots either, but I'm sorta familiar with what those do to her stats.

Man I know exactly how you feel. Last night i got BSOD'd and lost my unequipped items and as I was logging back on (still quite steamed I might add), my VMU started slipping out. Frantically, I pushed it back in only to disconnect myself and CORRUPT MY FILE!!!!! I lost everything! Bank included. And to add insult to injury, it was "kind enough" to equip me with a basic saber, frame, and 4 monomates. You wanna talk about a bad day!

God no! Bish what character was it? Did you loose that chain sawed?
Rapscallion I have sooooo been there! Don't worry. Eventually you'll except the fact that super rares are reserved for the folks with gamesharks and dupers.

Yep I lost the chainsawd and the Lavis I was borrowing from my friend. Uhhhh, he doesn't know yet. I'm going to have to break it to him gently....

*Gulp* Ouchies! You sure have had bad luck with BSOD. I got it four times now, but each time I've only lost fluids and mates....or nothing at all. I have yet to be victimized by a thief, FSOD, or BSOD. I've been real lucky. Especially the way I get killed around strangers. It's one of the benifits of being legit. All my items suck.

FSOD would be the frozen screen of death, which I've heard of. I (via Ragged Robin) have met the lovely RSOD, or reboot screen of death. This beauty reboots your DC right in the middle of whatever you're doing! Yee haw! She didn't loose much except for the Varista I had given her, and I get those like candy. I feel for your situation tho-I was luck and only lost what wasn't equipped on my chara.
I am curious how certain groups of things are lost in the screens of death. Why everything in the bank or on the person, but not X, Y, or Z?...

Don't feel too bad about not getting your hands on the uniques in the game. While I agree that the best weapons are the charge/berserk/spirit/drain series weapons, noneof the uniques, you'll notice, are any good for multiplayer (with the possible exception of the spread needle). If you care about multi mostly, then consider the uniques a treat, not the focus of some ego contest.
The named weapons are there to well...serve as your online weapon, so if you die, and your weapon DOES get stolen, you'll end up losing a Varista or Blade Dance, and not your Heaven Punisher or S-Beats Blades.

yeah I've wondered that myself. One time I got BSOD nothing happened. And then this last time, all unequipped items. My losing everything wasn't due to BSOD though. This was ummm...errr...*cough*...unforseen human error.

I was playing about a week or so ago during a thunderstorm. Well as you might guess the power went out. I thought I had lost hours of work. But when I got back on, I didn't seem to loose jack other than my unequiped mates and fluids. I couldn't recall if I was lucky enough to get booted at some point that allowed me to save, or perhaps is there an occasional save that occurs during the game? I should have lost a TON of experience. Seriously, like five hours worth. Doesn't seem likely though. I must have been booted.

If you use a Sega 4x memory card, you can see the light on it blink whenever some bit of information is getting saved. It does "mini-saves" very often--every time your meseta changes, and usually when you drop or pick up a high value item.
There's a picture of the Suppressed Gun in the rare weapons section of this web site. It looks real cool and that's it. A typical Raygun or even a Varista is better. Still, I love it! No ugly photon glow!

well, thanks for the moral support guys. I fell into a pretty childish spot having a tantrum over not finding any of the unique weapons.
anyway, the supressed gun, being a weapon of unique design (it looks pretty neat, a pistol with a silencer) is a pretty big let down. Someone stated that it has no special attack and that's the biggest bummer. It racks up some high damage but playing in some of the higher levels, I really need something that's going to get me out of a tough spot and the S gun just doesn't cut it.
I got a new Meteor smash with 25% Native and 40% Dark so I grinded it up to +9 and it works really well. The slow rate of fire is the only thing I don't like about it. I still miss my Pan Arms Blades (the paralyze attack was awesome!) and my C Bringer Rifle but I can always find others, I suppose. I've been told that the S Beat Blades are even better than Pan Arms so I'm on the lookout.
