An Honest Mod Question

I address this to Prof. Frink and Abdur in particular, but i welcome replies from saladwood, eRUPT, dj_dan and Guntz as well.

how did you achieve modhood? was it epic in nature? were you simply the right person at the right time? did someone hold a gun to your head?

Please note that I am NOT asking how to become a mod; I couldn't handle the responsibilty, and i hear the dental plan is crap.

I am simply curious about our more powerful PSO-World members and contributors; I like to stay on good terms with the bosses and all.

As a former mod (not here, obviously), I can tell you it all depends on your capacity to ensure no one harms anyone, and also the time you can dedicate to the forum (and your knowledge of teh rules, and that you see to it they are respected).

A lot of people think I am a mod >_< I think that has surely happened to Ketchup345 and VioletSkye as well, but even on PSO (GC), when people realize I'm Kef(ka), they say "he is a mod at PSOW", and when I reply "no, just a regular member, like you", they add "well, you should be" (funny part is "should").

In the case I do have some knowledge, that I hope is helpful, this is not a moderator characteristic, believe me... (reference to the two remaining mods at CG 'homepage')

eh, fkl works just as well for my purposes; this way, Frink can explain in very scientific terms that he is rotating around the son (which is good! not knocking the science now!), Abdur can make a terse but pointed reply intended to inform and condescend at the same time (a skill I thought I was good at) and Guntz.... dang I just dont know him well enough yet.

I remember that I was "accused" of being a mod just for posting a useful Form letter to anyone new that posts in the Lounge and posing what should be obvious (don't bump old topics, etc).
