I'm very very new to the PSO universe.. so bear with me.

I don't understand the use of Technique in PSO 3...

What is TP used for?

I looked over all of the guides, but didn't find any info on it. If someone could clue me in here, I would really appreciate it.

The TP of cards and characters is the technique damage of the card. You start to use TP when using Technique action cards.

Techniques don't use up your TP, only your action points, at least in Episode 3.
For a broader explanation of what techniques are, they are basically special abilities similar (note: SIMILAR) to your basic spells in RPGs.

In Episode 3, the amount of damage techniques (for example, barta, foie, or zonde) do is dependant on the total TP of different things.

If you are a Heroside (Hunter) character, technique damage is Story Character TP + Weapon TP + Technique TP (and any other boosting cards).

If you are a Darkside (Arkz) character, technique damage is either your Story Character TP + Technique TP (and any other boosting cards), or your Creature TP + Technique TP (and any other boosting cards).

As you can see, Technique damage is calculated pretty much like physical attacks, except that it uses TP instead of AP.

Ohhhhh!

I have most of those cards, and I had shrugged them off as attack modifiers, like long arm, that just give weapons a larger area of effect.

It's all starting to make sense now http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Thanks for the help!

Isn't it weird that techniques require an Tech OK item or monster to be able to cast it?

In PSO Ep. 1 & 2, it was possible to cast without a weapon...

You can cast without a weapon in Ep 3 as well. Wouldn't recommend having a naked Hunter though.

I noticed when using Zonde I couldn't select what I wanted to attack. There was an enemy monster and HU one the field with two Weapons. When using Zonde the entire attack field was Red and it attacked only the HU's sword and not his gun. This was wierd. Any help, or is there some mistake with my story?

Zonde is a single attack Tech, so it will only target one thing in it's range. It's also not Rampage, so it won't hit all the opponents items even were it a multiple.

I'd also point out that while it's not impossible to block a Tech attack (or at least resist it), there are far fewer options for defending against tech-based damage than there are for blocking physical damage. So (and this is just an off-the-top-of-my-head example), while Sil'fer's Diska of Braveman with Stab attached may do the same 8 damage as Glustar's Wand's Foie, you can Guard, Reduction, or Protection the Diska, while you can only Dodge or Companion the Foie (in my experience; I'm sure there are more options later on).

There aren't THAT many defence cards for techs, sadly, but there are enough, imho. Protection (+5HP for Ally only), Resist (+10HP, for your or Ally), Patience (+5HP, tech only) and Counter, which has a 50% chance of blocking the damage and bouncing it back to the attacker.

There are also AP/TP swap cards, so you can decrease tech damage by swapping it with a lower AP. I used TP Defense once against Pollux (who has 0 TP), and her physical attack did 0 damage.
